I read somewhere that I might be better to mine Litecoins.

Was wondering what the thoughts on this one is?

They are easier to mine but from what I can tell harder to exchange because you have to go through mtgox. If you have a rig that can mind either btc or ltc I would go with btc.

Much easier to mine but worth a lot less. LTC are only better if you expect their price to appreciate vs BTC IMO. This could very well happen.

Keep an eye on www.coinwarz.com and www.dustcoin.com to compare the relative mining profitability of each.  At this very moment they're fairly similar so it's probably easier to just mine Bitcoin.. But if the Litecoin value rises in proportion to Bitcoin, or Bitcoin difficulty increases quickly (which is supposedly likely in the near future) then Litecoins might be the way to go for GPU miners.  But the charts on those sites should reflect that if it comes to pass.

It changes moment by moment.  I suggest you look at CryptoSwitcher (linked off my site), that auto changes to maximize profitability.  It also, converts the currency you mined back into BTC, so ultimately you under up with more BTC than if you mined BTC directly.

BTC for now, but make sure your rig is LTC ready because in 4-6 months, GPU mining will be rather impractical most likely

I like em, easy to mine and relatively easy to trade. Market cap is 5% of bitcoin or so, the next coin is a fraction of 1 percent.

LTC does look alot easier to mine from what I seen but not as much in it as BTC but I suppose its the investment in BTC to be that profitable

LTC or any other quick flip start up scrypt coin. Mine what you can and turn them into BTC as fast as you can. Use Coinwarz.com to evaluate profit

DGC: D94C7TQdxLqPz5CtR47MigKwARqeTeUdAW  |  LTC: LazjxiafdkLw8HRWeyLrabU6f5zhyyrqEr  |  BTC: 1K5EP1DoE6fEmc2pwYXrbXbQbHcRvFee91  | I mine real coins, not trying to be the best at exercising.. my gpus.

I mine litecoin. till this days mining litecoin was about 1.5x profitable compared to mining bitcoin. Moreover almost all new altcoins are based on litecoin's scrypt algo, so when you ready to mine litecoin, you ready to mine almost all new altcoins.

I like the idea of ltc. faster transactions are definitely going to be important in the future for real world use. when paying for your food in a restaurant for example.
