We all know about the fees right, and think nearly twice or thrice before we decide to send any small amount like a 1$ or below cause the fees is very high, and it's a bad idea sending it to. So yesterday out of the Blues, I get a message from coinbase.com that someone send me 44 cents lmao, and look at that I'd he's sent so many smal transactions. Though I don't use coinbase.com any more, I hit the send button and it's needs more than 2$+ in fees. I am yet failing to understand why would he do this and here's the I'd for you all to see.

It could be a mass payment from a faucet or something. They can combine all the micro payments and pay a single fee.

Yes that could be true , also it's true that paying bitcoin network fee is a pain in the as* for most of the people who have to send bitcoins regularly.

This transaction isn't something unusual. You can see lots of similar transactions. Some small payments in one transaction. The sender has spent only 1 mBTC  for 0.190 BTC

You can take this in a positive way. I had a chat a few days ago with one of my friends who have been collecting Bitcoins ever since 2011. He told me that in 2011 and 2012, he used to receive a lot of dust transactions (amounting to around BTC0.0001 each) from unknown sources. His wallet contains at least 100 such transactions. But he was able to profit out of them, when the prices increased in 2013.

Nothing weird in the tx. He maximized the transaction by compiling small amounts in one transaction. Smart move I say.

The person was just hoping to get the best out of it and nothing more. You shouldn’t even be bothered about those kind of things

this looks like one of those classic micropayments. you have probably signed up in one of them long ago with your bitcoin address and had some referrals or something which is now generating some dust for you which they are automatically paying out.

specifically when the tx includes a 60 satoshi/B fee, it makes me more sure that this is a faucet payment!

This is the nearest thing possible regarding on this matter on which micropayments might have been made by faucet payouts since they do really charge up a single tx fee for those micropayments. Besides that i cant think off on anything related to this situation because sending a micro amount basing on todays fees i could say its really a dumb decision to do.

What I am thinking? There's a lot things I think right now, I think if the campaign where I join will accept me. Especially, the thing that can go outside my mind is about our physics subject, because physics is too hard for me 'cos I don't get it. In reality, next meeting is our quiz so I feel nervous of what score I can get. Second thing that i think right now is what should course I will take up in college and where school I will go because for now, we don't enough money  to choose a good university because mostly they are expensive; and it is the reason why I am using bitcoin to sustain everything especially for my college life.

That person use very low fees, only 0.00124868BTC for 2,014 bytes or 0.00062000BTC. It's wise decision since most micro-payment such as faucet or micro-jobs don't require fast payment.
Also, coinbase use high fees to ensure the transaction can get confirmation quickly.

I think low fees are OK, because unless you need Bitcoin asap usually it will clear within 24 hours and youve got your money.

I would expect that bitcoin transaction fees by now is lower due to the implementation of segwit and the split of the currency yet why there are still high fees isn't segwit supposed to solve this kind of stuff from happening ? All those debate of a scaling solution to be activated. Yet, we still get higher fees from sending transactions but ive heard that bitcoin will have another split maybe segwit hasn't been implemented yet so that's why. Maybe it will really take effect after November.

Smart move by the sender. My wallet contains too many small transactions and the fee is not worth moving the coins in one swoop. Do I just set my own fee to send and hope it gets confirmed at some point in the future? I am in no hurry at all.

Maybe he is a novice miner and thus wants to increase the number of transactions to be processed and to receive benefits? In any case, it's stupid. But by itself it is a problem for online stores and cafes. In the absence of fees for small transactions, the bitcoin economy would have developed faster.

that's also what i'm thinking the sender use small fee and those who's included from his list might received it not that quick but it will be send
as long as the fee has been paid, so with your question if you are not in the hurry you can proceed with sending your coin just needed to pay the
minimum mining fee i guess.
