As we near the end of 2017, we wanted to look back into this year and share our achievements with the community. Although we have a bit more to go with our technical roadmap, we’ve successfully completed everything we set out to do in our business roadmap. In the world of blockchain, sometimes business side can be overlooked. So big round of applause forour team!

2017 Business Roadmap

The business roadmap the ICON team has set for 2017 is as follows:

ICON team has worked tirelessly to realize the vision of hyperconnecting the world in 2017. After a successful token sale within just 6 hours, we have focused our efforts in actual service implementation and business expansion. ICON achieved all the goals on the roadmap for the year 2017 and more.
Successful achievement includes launching of Chain ID service, the world’s first blockchain authorized service; running a trial of blockchain platform services such as U-Coin for university communities, listing on top global exchanges, and forming a Blockchain Interoperability Alliance. We were able to achieve incredible results in various sectors of the blockchain ecosystem.

2017 Achievements

LOOP-ONE: loopchain, the core engine of the ICON network, is distributed as open source software. We also had a “Blockchain Demo Day” with software developers and financial experts.
Chain ID: 25 Institutions collaborated in the Financial Investment Consortium at the launching event of the Blockchain ID, a blockchain shared certification service. The opening event gained media attention with Don Tapscott’s attendance, who serves as an advisor on the advisory board.
U-Coin: U-Coin is a blockchain platform that makes it possible to pay, charge and transfer money using a smart vending machine. The U-Coin was well-received at the pilot service run atSogang University and Postech University.
Insurance auto-claiming service: In December 2017, Kyobo Life Insurance launched a consortium for insurance auto-claiming system. The response was hot in the Global IoT exhibition 2017 which took place in COEX.
Weebee Coin: We partnered with Woori Bank, one of the top-tier bank in South Korea, to build a service where digital currency is used as cash or card in franchises. Weebee Coin is expected to expand to university communities and regional societies.
Blockchain-based Document management platform: theloop, the blockchain technology team behind ICON, signed a MOU with ChainToB, a blockchain startup company, to collaborate on developing blockchain-based document management platform.
Blockchain Interoperability Alliance: ICON, AION, and Wachain formed the first Blockchain Interoperability Alliance in the industry. The Alliance’s main priority is to collaborate on developing a global standard for interchain communication and transactions. This will be achieved by conducting Interchange Transaction research, developing common industry standards, sharing research, and collaborating on protocol architecture.

Our current ICON Network is as the above. In 2018, the ICON team will focus our efforts to connect more Communities to expand our ICON Network and come closer to ‘Hyperconnect the World’.

In hindsight this was a very cheap Ico. Even without the big mass knowing icon it never dipped below 2 for a long time on the first day. A lot of ppl seem to recognize the potential. A potential similar to the growth like somewhere in between of neo and Ethereum. Based on some random numbers and a hunch.

Recently I came across ICON randomly through a youtube Video. It got me so much interested that I have been reading/learning only about this project from last few days.

ICON's white paper shows its plan (However, i still need to read few more times to completely understand its technical part), which is completely different from other regular white papers. Many white papers simply deal about one block chain application, but ICON is concentrating on creating a complete Ecosystem of block chains. They are allowing different institutions like Financial organisations, insurances, hospitals, universities to create and govern their own blockchains, but they could all hyper connect with ICON network. This would be mind blowing if implemented according to plan. This is not just their vision, but they already got head start in many of these. We will come to know about those success about in an year.

I watched several interviews of Min Kim (Member of ICON Foundation Council). He seems to be a honest guy and I kind of connected with his vision. I came to know that actually around 100 members are working on ICON project (But the website shows around 30 member only. May be, 30 members are involved  in the ICON ICO launch & 100 members are involved in the ICON project. Anyways, I am not sure). Overall, I got confidence on him and he is definitely NOT someone who wants to  cash out on ICO hypes.

Finally, I got very good confidence on the project and started some position yesterday and I will hodl this for long time. I don't have enough knowledge in doing price predictions and hence wont touch that subject.

The only thing that needs to frighten you is a relatively large suppy to my humble opinion. The ICO price was simply below true value I think. After the mainnet lanch I expect the price to skyrocket even more. That's why I gathered some more ICX. Icon should be able to reach the value of at least 1/10th of Ethereum. Probably even more. But hey; forecasts. Who knows what will happen? But with $5,something I find ICX still to be a good investment for the long run, or even short run, since mainnet lanch will drive its price up, I think and hope.
