I tried contacting Theymos for the last month but he's been unresponsive: I lost the password of my main account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=120821 , just the password, I have full control over the associated mail (and over the mail I originally associated with it over 4 years ago, too, if needed).

When I try the password reset procedure I get the following error message:

"Sorry, this account has not yet been approved. If you need to change your email address please click here."

not sure why, the account has just been inactive for some months, I accessed it fine in november 2016.

Any other staff member who can kindly help me getting this issue sorted out?

Thanks in advance.
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)
