Hello World,

Just wanted to say hello & try to grasp some information from all of you intelligent investors. First off I would like to say I wish I got into Bitcoin sooner than this, but thats life. Second off, I would like to hear other peoples take on Bitcoin.

-Is now a good time to still be entering Bitcoin?
-I am starting with little funds so I do not make large mistakes and lose everything, so is there any specific Youtube Videos I can watch to learn more about Bitcoin & Ether? (I learn better with Youtube rather then reading)
-I am a little overwhelmed with the tech & financial language, therefor it is hard for me to understand exactly what I am investing in. Does it get easier with time?
-What do you guys think about Ether? What exactly is Ether?

These are just a few questions I have, would love to get some input from some highly ranked, long-term investors.

I am 25, interested in putting small amounts of money into something, and I hope Bitcoin is it although every adult who invests in stocks and owns businesses has told me to stay away.

Thanks Guys,

MrMabe

you are asking plenty of questions that no one has the answers too.

There are multiple youtube videos, if you are brand spanking new.. Learn about wallets, the exchange and so fourth.

Everything gets easier with experience, i've already learnt from my burns.

If you read / Study / Watch patterns you will find where to hit, and where to miss.

BTC shouldn't let you down, not yet anyway.

You said you were overwhelmed with some of the financial language so I'm trying to explain this in simple terms, but this can have the unintented consequence of making me sound rude so please don't take it this way.

I'm an adult who invests in stocks and owns businesses.  I want bitcoin to succeed and exist for philosophical reasons and I'm more interested in the mining side rather than speculation in bitcoin because I like to build computers and fiddle with them as a hobby.  I do have a little bit of bitcoin I'm holding on to.   At best bitcoin is a risky volatile investment and no more than 1% of a person's net worth should be in volatile risky investments.  If bitcoin succeeds as a currency and stabilizes it will be more akin to cash and no more than 1% of a persons net worth should be held uninvested in cash. Bitcoin is a way to send money to people so I'd only buy bitcoin to send money to someone now or in the near future.   Speculators holding bitcoin are clogging up the network by holding bitcoin when they should be spending it and generating fees for miners.  People are always going to speculate in bitcoin because people speculate in everything.

Altcoins are worse to the point where I'd consider them more akin to gambling than an investment but that doesn't mean you can't have some fun playing around with them.  By my definition a real investment is buying something that some consumer is consuming time or energy somehow and paying for thus earning a return and just buying something and speculating that it will go up is just gambling.   But most of what goes on in the stock market is gambling too, although some stocks are legitimate and give you an actual return. Not that there is anything wrong with gambling, I just prefer to do it in Vegas where a cocktail waitress in a miniskirt can bring me a free drink while I'm doing it.

If you really want to get into bitcoin you might try mining and since you stated that you don't understand a lot of the technical stuff you could have someone else host the machine.  Hashnest is run by bitmain and you can buy as little as a single share of a machine if you want to make a small investment to try it out.  Reinvest the proceeds and one day the machine will be yours. But they only take bitcoin as payment so you have to buy some to transfer the money which is what bitcoin is supposed to be used for in the first place.

As for ether in my opinion it is either a scam or just the platform that a lot of scams operate on,  so I've always stayed away from it because of the drama in that community.

ether is token of this platform called ethereum which is supposed to be a platform for smart contracts which use that token. but that is just the front. in reality it is a big pump and dump project. it has a huge amount of coins premined (72 million) and it also had a big ICO!
there has been lots of bugs in this platform, many of which have never been fixed and also it has a lot of easily exploitable ones.

Okay guys this is a start,

It is good for me to absorb knowledge that everyone else has, or has experience in. I am still curious about the back-end of how ether and bitcoin started and how it exists. Currently I am researching right now just the basics on both and hoping to learn a descent amount in order to keep up with the talk on the forum. This is a learning curve. Like i stated earlier, I am not familiar with the language but I want to be clear that I know about technology and business. I am not completely illiterate in this category, its just that it is difficult to process all of this when everyone is already experts! So the beginner end of the forum is now my go to friend!

I do have a friend that has been VERY successful with Bitcoin and he is also helping me along the process. Its great to get some feedback and I look forward to running into you guys in the future.

I will be consistently checking this thread for updates on YouTube personnel that I should follow, that anyone suggests. Also, websites that I should be checking out. So do not let my last post end the thread. If you have a go to place to learn information I want to know! Please list below even if you just type a single address.

Sincerely,

MrMabe

I appreciate your decision to join crypto currencies earlier because I believe that we are still in the beta phase and we have a long way to go. I would advise you, invest your time before investing any penny into the Bitcoin, Ether or any other crypto currency. We have experienced members on this board and they don't hesitate to share their valuable knowledge with us. Read as much as you can and try to understand the topic.

Now coming back to your investment query, I don't think this is a wrong time to invest in Bitcoin or Ether but only if you are considering mid or long term speculative gains. You can either go with trading (which is for the micro or short period) or investment (mid or long term period). Bitcoin and Eth have good scope in my opinion and both cater the solutions of the different issues so I don't consider that those are competitors of each other.

Is it worth dealing with Ether in general?

Why on Earth would you listen to these people you talk about who trade in stocks ? Are they stupid ? They must not be very good with stocks and losing alot of money. Stock market is more money Mickey mouse profits and Monopoly money.

What businesses do these people you speak of own ? A popsicle stand ? If you want to make money stop listening to people. Think for yourself. Let these people bad mouth Bitcoin while you make your millions. Then rub it in their face.
