i.e. 600 watts is 15 kwatts a day or 3 usd a day at my summer rates of 20 cents I earn about 8 so 8-3 = 5 bucks a day so  the time has come to stop buying gear.

in 1 month my power bill will drop in ½  so 8-1.50 = 6.50 a day which means very tight margins for now.

 summer = 16.7  I add ac cost bump to            20.0  as my ac runs more due to summer mining.
winter     = 12.7 I subtract heat saved lower to 10.0 as my furnace runs less due to winter mining.


so it is 12.7 to 16.7   but my  adjustments    10 to 20 cents a kwatt are accurate.

USA  tends to bill higher in the summer  lower in the winter  in many places of the country.

This summer was the first summer  I could run cards the whole summer and make money since  2013

I now have   18 1080 ti's  and 1 1070  and I won't be doing much for a while.  cards still turn a profit and are paid off  but buying has to stop.

Hey Phil,

I have the same exact steel shelving. Make sure you have an assistant when assembling as I think it was meant to be assembled with 2 people.

Me, I stubbornly attempted to assemble it alone so it took a longer time and my body was sore for 3 days. So take care.


On another note,  I tried to ordering a B-class card from evga and was rejected. Apparently, they don't ship to freight forwarders or mail box holding facilities i.e. the plan was:
1) order from evga
2) have them ship to my forwarder
3) have the forwarder consolidate the items and ship to me overseas using air freight.

Any Idea how I can get gear from evga?

Supply and demand.  In the summer, more people run their AC so there is more demand for electricity and puts more strain on the grid... thus the electric companies charge more.

if you can swing it look into a business class demand service , the rates are far far cheaper than resedential

How poorly would I fare if I just mined whatever random alts were on top of whattomine for a year and just held those coins instead of regularly trading for fiat or something more stable?

I guess I'm asking, is a coin being on top of the whattomine boards an indication of its long term viability?

It really depends on why the coin has become most profitable. Is it because of a sudden spike in the price or a drop in difficulty? If it's the latter then it has no bearing at all. If it's the former it could just be a random pump by traders or some more fundamental news. You need to dig deeper to see if that news is significant enough to be long term or not.

Please do let us know how you end up wiring the sata and molex ports. I could be wrong but it looks as though the molex are output ports for fans though...

What did they charge you to have that installed?

The electric company only charged for the city permit $200 or so since they had to drop and new transformer for the overhead service, I paid 15k though to ghet 600amp service installed by a certified electician
but that included 15 220v outlets and 4 20amp outlets, new lights etc

Phil (and others using Nicehash).

Are you guys just running the Nicehash miner (2.0 or Legacy) and letting it pick your coins or are you pointing your own miner software to the mining pool?

Reason I am asking, I set up a miner on Nicehash 2.0.1.1 and benchmarked it (4x 1080ti).  It bounced between Lyra2v2 and Dagger but when I look at the calculator they have on line it is showing 1080ti's should be most profitable bouncing between Lbry and Keccek and Equihash?  Mine has been steady mining Lrya2v2 and Dagger?  When I look in the Benchmark section I don't even see Keccek Skunk or any of the other algo's 1080ti's are supposed to be good at?

1) Did I miss something on the setup?

2) Dagger?  on a 1080ti?
