Work in progress, 2 x boards, 6 x 2 = 12 x ZOTAC P106s, 2400w Delta and 1 x EVGA-G3-1000w powering 3x2=6 SATA and 3x2=6 Molex.

Without the SATA and Molex powered, only 1st GPU works.

My local supplier told me that P106 has been restricted to bulk/farm orders and not for retail sales anymore  Huh

Thanks for the info, citronick. How do you boot up the rig? the reset button does not work for me. I have to unplug and plug in again the mb power to start it. And when I connect sata to the first sata power in, the second pci-e did not work. Did not try first since my sata hd cable is blocking the gpu.

In BIOS, set automatic on after power failure/off.

That SATA connector in between slot 01 and slot 02 - I think is for the mSATA SSD.

I dont use the mSATA because the smOS runs off a USB stick.

I need to finish some work related stuff because of due-dates and will continue to work on the rigs as soon as possible.

I have sent a unit to Phil to review. I have got a few units of the 8-slot Colorful board and will send one to Phil too.

LOL - some of you guys PMed me for free boards... my group's GPU farm keeps about 3% of daily revenue to "R&D" account and I buy new stuff every now and then. Sorry, I cant spare any free boards/stuff all the time - they get eventually put to good use in the farm - I am not Santa Claus LOL  Grin

I do have soft spot for uncle Phil though because he is a very good troubleshooter and detailed reviewer - and I think that's good for our mining community and info sharing in this thread. Like Phil, I am also pro-riserless rigs.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Looking forward to the colorful board review! I had a heart attack last night, my entire remote farm went down. Called the internet company this morning and they reset something on their end. Huge relief that everything is up again lol. If not I have to take a flight.

Spacing for the 6 x slotters

The Aorus 1080ti takes up 2 slots.... so this board maybe max 3 x Auros or mixed GPU with the Aorus inserted in the last slot but that doesn't make sense since you would want all your 1080ti in a single rig. But 6x1080ti Ref/Blower type will do this board justice.

GPU Lineup - MSI GTX980ti, Sapphires R7-370 Nitro, RX-470 Nitro, Gigabyte Aorus 1080ti

LOL - my group's GPU farm is in a warehouse 15mins drive my house. But all ASICs are at Labrador, NFL-Canada.

Teamviewer, VPN, CCTV, Big Digital temps and decibel meters and SRR -- are mandatory for remote monitoring, access and control.

Of course, the cellphones of the onsite engineers at Labrador is good to have too  Grin

Hi Citronick. So i followed your instruction to set that power on failure/off to ON and still, the reset button will not work.

Also, I cannot make the first three pci-e slot work. Only the fourth pci-e will work for now. Did not test the fifth and sixth yet. I insert all three sata power in as you did in the pic and leave those three molex power out open. Did I miss anything?

Please advice. Really need to make it work before my vega delivered.

Can you power the molex too - looking at the mobo design, the sata and molex power ins - it appears that would the risers would have needed.

I am using low power GPUs like P106s for this mobo and later testing the RX470s - I am not confident yet that this mobo can take heavy duty GPUs like the 1080tis until I test them.

Note: I am not at warehouse today - I got my office people to take pictures this morning.

Maybe Asus Turbo 1070? The blower style card might be better for this setup. Also because Asus turbos tend to be cheaper.

Thanks Citronick. Maybe I got a bad mb. Tried to insert molex as well. Just did not work. I am using a 570 on the fourth slot. It hashes but the result is not stable. from 8M to 26M/s.

From your previous post I learned that I may use smOS. Turned out it works great! Now seemed everything works! Thank you!

Anyone have one of these?  Asus A B250 Mining Motherboard With 19 PCIe Slots

Isn't that the one where the pcie ports are too close together and usb risers can easily touch each other, shorting out (or frying) if they are bumped or lean a little in either direction? I think someone posted a picture of one with scorched usb risers after that happened, but I can't find it at the moment...

You are thinking of the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+. The PCI-E slots are right net to each other in a row and barely have enough space for the usb risers. It's a stupid design. The solder on the back of the risers WILL short out on the metal USB connector unless you insulate them from coming in contact. I filed the back of the risers and put two pieces of electrical tape over them, which solved the problem. Even Biostar made fun of how stupid the design on the ASRock board is. The Asus B250 Mining Expert PCI-E spacing is much better and desen't have that problem.

On this topic, what's the best mobo to run 12 gpu rig as of today?

I mine Zen on zhash.pro and my pattern looks like this:

The averages shown are pretty much spot on with what EWBF is telling me.  I run 13x 1080Ti with moderate overclocks on both Core and RAM.  Also got a pair of 1070s similarly clocked.  I have only been mining on this pool since the 14th.
and @ citronick

my rigs on zec

2x 1080 ti & 1070 mini on the same luckpool  diff address / diff rig

same style rig at minez zone
https://minez.zone/workers/zngoZCdezZLWvkZkTPg42rePGG46JLs63H5

can you do a trace ping  -- yeah I noticed yours touches zero which is odd -- do you have a high ms hash submission? too many stale?
Could you explain exactly what that is and how to do it? I don't believe so, everything reads out pretty accurate which is what I don't understand. .
  ping the pool

bing search
how to ping a website

Second Summary.
Open Command Prompt or Terminal.
Enter the Ping command.
Press Enter to see your ping output.
Read the first line to see what the command is doing.
Read the body of the output to see how long it took the address to respond.
Read the summary.

http://www.wikihow.com/Ping-an-IP-Address

I think he was actually asking for a traceroute, but not sure.

Sorry for the delay on this, I still have not done that

I moved it to zhash and I noticed it dropped to 300 and 100 sols twice the first day but per this chart it has not recently.. I also switched to ewbf 3_3 and fullzero of nvOC gave me a command hat he said he believed would fix my issue and stated it could be due to having different card types on the rig

I have a 12 gtx1060 3gb cards rig mining ETH, each card is running at 75 watts. I'd like to switch to ZEC, do I need to increase the power limit to get max profits? How many watts is the proper setting?

im in for your continued input on the 6 card boards.   I am really appreciating their card spacing.   6x 1080ti would be nice if the mainboard can handle the load on the PCIE connectors.  From what I can tell in photos, the power traces to them are massive.

I like the $150 price point and the built in GPU.  Just stick a sodimm in and a HDD.  Simplicity.

Some update on my testing on the onda D1800 six card mb:

Finally made two blower style 1070 working on this board. Cannot make it work on first two so I plug in one in the first and another in the fourth slot. While it is wide enough between each other, the first one has very high temp between 70 and 80. While I can tolerate the temp, the fans of both are at around 90% most of time. I do not feel comfortable at all for this scenario.

My conclusion: this mb may be great for some low heat cards. Even for 1070 it is not the best idea to put 6 gpu on it.

Citronik,

What are those breakout boards on your 2400W PSU?  I've never seen those before.  They must be awkward with the 90 degree placement of the connector to the PCIe plugs.

Citronik,

What are those breakout boards on your 2400W PSU?  I've never seen those before.  They must be awkward with the 90 degree placement of the connector to the PCIe plugs.

I have a few versions from different suppliers, the awkward one is good because it has a on/off switch but 90 degree placement; its compatible with HP server PSUs and Deltas - this particular build is placed plat like that due to space constraints. All other Deltas are hanged vertically with exhaust upwards. I use curtain "S" hooks to hang GPUs and server PSUs, with exhaust pointed upwards so that it will push air up (hot air naturally goes up). Will take some photos this week. The other BBs are from Parrarelminer shop, with LED voltage meter etc. - fancy but expensive..... Most of my BBs (80%) are the ones with 90% degree placement if laid flat. Its quite good and cheap too from a trusted Aliexpress seller.

@MingMining - did you power the molex also to make the board work? I have the first board with smOS Linux with 2 cards working last week, with molex and sata powered. I need to populate all 6 with P106 and experiment - will find time to try that this week. My boys did the 2 rigs in a rack setup - previous pix, and waiting for me to power up and install.

@phil - my supplier in China told me that the 8-slot Colorful is out of stock because of a recent big bulk order. He will keep on the look out. Meanwhile, we should also search that board from other sellers. My guy suspects that the bulk order was from a major player and sells them for profit to local resellers. I have sent him some BTCs for 5 units.... if he cant find the mobo within a week or 2, he will find or buy a D3 for me and ship to Labrador.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

I run my 3GB 1060`s (ASUS 1060 DUAL OC and Gigabyte 1060 Windforce OC) on 80W both on ETH and ZEC. If I go lower than hasrate drops significantly. 80W is sweet spot for me.
For ZEC I run cards GPU clock +100, memclock +1000, super stable for weeks now and getting ~260 sol/s. I must add that these cards do not have Samsung memory and must be getting less ZEC sol/s because for ETH I get max 19,5 MH/s when overclocked.
