Hi all,

Over a year ago, I decided to install Armory on my laptop. I didn't know much about bitcoin wallets at the time and I transferred some bitcoin to the wallet before it had finished downloading the blockchain. For various reasons (including a slow Internet connection and computer issues), I never got round to syncing the blockchain and my bitcoin never registered on the wallet.

That laptop is now bust, but I still have its hard drive and it works fine. What I want to know is how I can get my bitcoin back.

I am only now getting round to trying to do this because the value of that bitcoin is a lot higher than it was at the time.

Thanks!
The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Download and install the latest versions of Bitcoin Core and Armory. Start Bitcoin Core and let it sync. Then shut it down and start Armory (Armory will start Bitcoin Core separately by itself).

From the hard drive that you recovered, find your Armory wallet file. It should be named something like "armory_XXXXXXX.wallet". It will probably be at the Armory datadir location which is dependent on your OS. Copy the Armory wallet file and take it to your new install of Armory. Put it in the Armory datadir and it should be autodetected and used.
