Lisk/Stratis are good projects to look at.

Stratis is a bullshit project to look at. I went through their official presentation and you know what? They just keep explaining things like decentralization and blockchain there, just as if there was no bitcoin before them and no other clones of it as well. The only new thing they offer is proof of stake but I believe this is also a feature of some alts already.

My opinion you can pick Waves , Ethereum , Litecoin and some Dogecoin , these Altcoin the price growing slow but sure.

I'm totally sure about doge. It is one of the good and old ones and the coin that's actually used by lots of people every day which is not true about most of coins out there.

With that low budget it is possible to just buy bitcoin and hold, that is the safest way, but if you are aiming for bigger profit then alt coin will be better but with higher risk, and from the list I see that your coins are good alt coins, maybe you want consider waves , ripple and nem, the price is not too expensive

None... and if you still want to... dont day trade.... choose 2-3 coins and buy them and then forget for 3 months, then check on 1st january how you did...

I would pick lisk, waves and pick like 3-4 NEOs just because i think they will easily go to 75USD+ this year.

Trading isn't too hard but you need discipline. If you sell and it starts to go up you buy and take up the loss, because if you wait for it to go low again it may never happen and then you will fear missing out and buy at an even higher price, ruining your portfolio. So if you decide to trade, do it with discipline and don't be greedy or "hope" that it will go the other way.


If we make money trading it's because someone else in the other side is losing it, you don't want to be that guy.

I Think the list you have made is good and all coins have the potential to grow but at present NEO is at the top in all exchanges so the probability of huge profit margin will not be there. Ripple is another option to be considered.

Im aiming for ripple as of now which i do buy some in bulks as of now since theres a news that it would rose up again on this year. its still a good option or coin to buy on.Besides there are lots of potential coins in the market and seeing on his budget on trading i would say it would be just enough to invest on 2-3 coins. LISK,RIPPLE would be already a good choice.

In my opinion, in that budget you can invest in a very low cap coins with a solid dev/team like OKcash, Geo, and even Verge. You need to research.

Don't give the decision about your investment out of your hands. I started with an equal amount how you are planning to. The first thing you should do is: Read!
And then: Read, read, read!
After a while you can seperate the wheat from the chaff. You will get a feeling about, which member here on BCT is trustable and which are not. When you find a really smart and interesting posting, look at the profil from the author and read his other posts. Do they confirm your impression? Try to find a couple of members who really understand the market. Members who point at a perfekt (early) time on promising coins and projects. If you read a brandnew post from such reputated members like this, go immediately to the project page and:
Read, read, read!
Push your feelings beside. Think about if this project has something to offer. Something new, something good, something which can give the project more value sooner or later. Take a small look at the dev team and at the community. What are your impressions? Does it look seroius? Does it look smart? Motivated? Is the community a group of blind believing kiddies, or a union of experts? Then try to understand the connections between supply, marketcap and price in order to assess the possible increase of the value. Compare it to coins with similar preconditions.
But at least, the art of making profit is:
Don't make a science out of what I told you above. Because to trade-off again and again leaves you uncertain and prevents you from tucking in at the perfect time. If your head says for 70 to 30 "Yes!" and your heart for 90% at least:
Go in immediately!
And when you really believe, don't care about the dumps and pumps which will follow (for sure). Don't regret anything. Dont cry about lost opportunities (the forrest is always full of them, that doesn't matter). Just go straight ahead. Watch the market and learn.

Take a brief look at the chart before investing. Compare it to other charts. Projects of active dev-teams have other charts than dead projects. Try to find patterns which can help you.

And when you diversificate your investment over 5 to 8 projects and when you not make the biggest mistake: to buy in when the price is high or have risen a lot in the last days / weeks - you will make profit. Sometimes you can ride on an upcoming hype, too. But in this case it is often better to jump of the horse after the half way than to wait till the bitter end. Good profits are good profits and better than no profits.

Quite an interesting list of some alt coins. But in general I also can just recommend to you, to work yourself through all the different white papers or products, so you actually know, in what you are planning to invest into. The other question, which you need to clarify for your self, do you want to speculate or do you want to invest (long term holding). I would also check-out deeoonions. They have been lately quite high, but now back to a reasonable price level for a potential bargain. The community is quite active and good new developments like deepsend is on its way. Diversification is good but difficult w/ small budget.

Remember that you should be after % gain.  In crypto world many fail to see that it is independent of coin price.  While it is true that the earlier you get into a (future) successful coin the better, it is very high risk at that point (unless you have a crystal ball to see the future).

For good (almost) guaranteed return without day trading, go with BTC or ETH.  You'd be surprised how 0.08 BTC or 1.2 ETH invested 6 months ago have grown compared to other alt coins.  

Many times, the answer is right in our face but we (for some reason-thrill of the hunt???) insist on looking elsewhere...

Waves is actually a better investment to make when compared with most Altcoin investments. Although the community is getting larger everyday, the people that use things like Ethereum, MaidSafe, Lisk, etc are using Waves for certain application that will help the development on cryptocurrency systems. Waves is also not that expensive even though it began with a super low price, the potential of the coin growing to a higher price maybe past double the amount of value it has right now is very likely to happen. It might happen within a year or two, it just depends on what's going on with Bitcoin.

This is the best time to collect waves coin. the price come under $5 today and it may still go down so keep one eye on this coin and buy some coins when the price looks very low. I am also waiting one more chance to buy some more coins. This will give us good profit in future this is sure. But I am not sure at this year end what will be the price of this waves coin. But I diversified my investment - the same amount like TO - straight after the beginning. No coin brought me losses. Some coins stagneted for a long time, some rose only a bit in price, some coins exploded. By now I made more than 1500% profit - in 6 months. Yes: I know, that the circumstances in march have been very, very good for stepping into the market. Maybe you can't compare them with the conditions today. But: If I would have invested only in a stagnating coin, I would be frustrated now. If I would only have invested in a slow rising coin, I would only have a small profit by now. The few coins in my portfolio which exploded pushed my total profit on a very high level. But mostly you don't know, which coin will be the golden one. So pick up 5 to 8 which are promising for taking off. And everyone of them should be a guarantor for a stagnation at least. With this procedure you are unable to loose (exept the whole market crashes). But you have more chances to make a good profit, than investing in a single coin gives you.

What I am asking myself, when I am reading this thread:
What is the difference between a small amount and a big amount when it comes to investment?
There is none!
It doesn't matter how much money you invest. 1000% profit are 1000% profit.
And you should go the same way with a small amount like someone with a big amount:
Diversification!

In the beginning I daytraded a bit. Doubled (luckily) my investment with it, but decided very quick, that it stressed me to much and that I don't have the time for checking the charts all the day in order to buy or sell immediately, what you should. Than I started holding my bunch of coins. 15 different at the moment. And made 1500%. Save 1500%, because of diversification and the imminent chance, that some stagnating coins from my portfolio can moon at any time, like some other coins in my bag did already.

It is one of the best idea investing into SIA because from many days SIA is generating High volumes in the market and it has very good potential in the market. I think right now it is the best investment and gives good returns after some time.

$400 - $500 is good to invest on altcoin trading but if you use it for short term trading that is very risky, First because of transaction fees every trade and Second you'll just earn a small profit for every traded and you didn't if you will win or lose every short trade.
My suggestion for you go buy a good long term coins like STRATIS, WAVES, LTC, ETH, XMR and STEEM or cheap coins but good for longterm like XRP, STR, DGB, SC and BCN.
Long term is better than short term trading patience and Technical Analysis is the key to be successful in trading

I thought the above poster had many thoughtful points and decent names. Let me add a few additional ones.  

1. There is a great speculative wave of investors allocating to ICOs. But these are unproven, untested business models. This mania is no different from IPOs in the 2000 tech bubble. Some will no doubt prosper, but the odds of success and picking the winners are slim.

2. Diversification if essential for serious portfolios. Some investors speak very poorly of low price, low market cap coins like Reddcoin, 1337, LiteDoge, Linda, Espers, Embercoin, Zeit. But truth be told one or more of these crypto coins could be wildly successful with fabulous returns for early investors and all the rest may fall to zero. If you allocate here, make it very small.

3. Some forum members will advise you to stay away from high dollar price coins like Bitcoin, Monero, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, LiteCoin because the prices are high. But you can still purchase a fractional share and benefit from a continued growth in the success of these franchises in terms of user adoption, merchant acceptance, network size, etc and price appreciation. When Fidelity helps their clients into crypto, where will they allocate? I think they will start with this list since the small coins are too illiquid for big money investors.

I would advise paying attention to NEO, it is now in a good price range. Also XEM and STRAT. But first of all, study these coins.

Yes, me too. I would invest XEM and maybe NXT. But I will not buying at this time, especially for NXT, because NXT still running their IGNIS project, and pumping period will not happen when this campaign still active.

LTC and Siacoin maybe good option if get more funds.
