Depends on several things really, mainly focusing on location
yeah it depends on location, but yet we didn’t know about any case which shows that mining is illegal, but leave it a side, the truth is only thing that matters is the rate of mining that you receive, so it is better not to take this topic on our minds, just keep doing mining and earn.

It doesn't depend on location. Nowadays mining is legal in every part of the world. Even countries that formally don't recognise Bitcoin or restrict Bitcoin trading allow mining.
For instance look at China. They're one of the most restrictive governments in the world and have banned both ICOs and trading, but they have nothing against mining.

Its hard to tell wether it is illegal or legal, it is because different country has different laws, so it's depend upon to your country. Try to know it first before you start mining. But i know someday all countries in the world will accept and support this cryptocurrencies.

The short answer: In most cases, bitcoin mining is perfectly legal. In a few countries, however, bitcoin mining, as well as the possession and use of bitcoin is illegal. If you live in North America and most of Western Europe, bitcoin mining, as well as possession, is not only legal, but local regulatory frameworks actually provide certain protections and basic oversight. In many cases, bitcoin is not treated as a currency by governments, but instead as an asset or property. As such, bitcoin is afforded some legal protection, just like any other type of property. In most cases, national governments that have not outlawed bitcoin, have not passed laws regarding bitcoin mining. Globally, with only a few exceptions, bitcoin mining is generally considered to be legal.

If you are having the money to invest in a mining rig and have the money to pay the electricity bill then you can carry on with mining ,there is nothing illegal in mining bitcoin or any other alt coin, why would any country ban those activities unless they ban the use of electricity and hardware. Tongue So if you want to mine you can start that and i really do not mind if other countries does not accept alt coins but i am sure bitcoin will be accepted.

I's legalized. You will be using your equipment with an electric power paid for by you, I believe there is nothing illegal there, at least if you do not live in a country that is driven by socialism.  Cheesy

In Venezuela it is illegal. Depends on the country. Most countries allow it. Here in PH it is legal, just really expensive.

In my country mining looks completely legal because there are simply no regulations about it. If someone is having mining stuff around the people here will be very excited to see what going on because they are completely unaware of the fact that crypto currencies can be mined like this. With such country I dint think that any illegal issues will be raised in the near future. Until that time I believe people who has great knowledge regarding the bitcoin mining will be able to mine freely and at full power. ;-)
That is it! As long as there is no regulation about it stating it as illegal, I do not see why it should be. Moreover, I do not even know why any country will declare it illegal. It is more like having an appliance in my house which I make use of, irrespective of what it is doing and I still pay for my electricity bills.

I am not defrauding anyone in the process and it is not affecting anyone as well. Will some countries even have any idea what you are doing with your ASIC?

And recently during China government cracked down exchanges and halt cryptocurrencies trading but in the process didn't stated to stop the mining activities as well, which mean nothing harm about mining as long as people pay their electricity, it's a good income for the country I guess. Only few countries which have banned bitcoin and mining industry for good, simply because they don't want to deal with cryptocurrency world, something intangible.

Probably because not many people know about Mining crypto coins and I think the government has not made any rules for mining crypto coins.
mining without pollution is what I like from this mining.
so in my opinion as long as the government has not banned crypto coin mining I think mining is legal.

I like that last part. It is my business what I do with my money or the kind of investment I do as long as I am not breaking any laws and I am paying my necessary bills as at when due. My actions only become illegal if in the process, I start breaking some laws. Moreover, like you said, in my country, I doubt if my country will even know what I am doing at my backyard as long as it isn't hurting anyone.

Everything depends on the country and its leadership. In some countries, mining is legal, in others it`s not. If the crypto currency law and the prohibition of bitcoins has not yet been created, then mining is considered a legitimate phenomenon. To regulate the turnover of the bitcoins and put it on a legal basis, it is necessary to make changes in the activity of existing state financial structures.

So far as I know Mining is legal in all countries.

Nevertheless you have to be aware of tax-related points.

All the best

B.D.
No! No! That isn't right since of course from what OP has said and from what others have said that it is glaringly illegal in some countries. Some countries are just indifferent anyway as they have no slightest idea of what goes on in the blockchain environment.

Nope i guess, i think it's legal as long as the electricity used for mining equipments and all other equipments does not come from illegal / criminal activities / etc. The mining process is in principle similar to having a truck or taxi vehicle, which then the vehicle is used to search for passengers / goods, if the vehicle (hardware mining) and fuel (electricity) is kosher of course the whole process be so kosher / legal.

In my opinion mining is legal since mining is solving problems to facilitate crypto-currency transactions. I really do not care about rigid laws. Laws are made for man and man is not made for the law. So if laws are made for man, then man should be able to modify the law and grant people opportunities. Mining is completely legal. Again I don't care about law and another thing is "Life is a risk" and there are some risks that are worth taking. Only reason I will not engage in anything related to crypto in my country even if it is prohibited is cos I never knew about it or I wasn't interested. Any other reason is stupit. We should be free on earth to enjoy the life that God gave us. Most problems we have in world today is caused by humans and so called rigid law.

Here is what the point is. Mining is legal. And law should be something like this: We do not permit or recommend mining in our country but if you wish
to go ahead, you are totally responsible for any negatives.
