How could that happen, the password in cryptopia was not just numbers and letters only. but must also use some characters.
How can it be hacked, do you not use two factor security ?

Theirs someone also trying to broke in unto my account but sad to say he did not succeed on his bad attempts since my 2FA is activated and it make me safe for this for a while and I don't know why hacker track my account while im so carefull upon dealing with gmails on some sites when I register and I'm not using the email of my exchange upon signing on bounties or other altcoin and giveaways scene.

So 2FA activation is very advisable so that this hacking issue will not occur again.

Why did it happen? What is your email account also hacked? Some of my friends also encountered problems like you and their assets in cryptopia were all stolen. Have you contacted support cryptopia?

I suggest you immediately change your cryptopia account password and your email, you must also use 2fa security to make your account difficult to hacked.

sad to say but if he already cash out btc support won't help you and beside its really a big mistake not setting 2fa security code, maybe lesson
learned and it will be a good share from you to aware traders who still trading from cryptopia to be very careful and secured their accounts.

It's a bit of a workaround but you could make a new emailadress and new account at every exchange for any trade you make. Coins go in and out once and after that you don't care what happens to the account because you'll never use it again.

I'm sorry for your losses though, please be careful in the future.

You need to make a police report too. Legally Cryptopia probably can't do anything, only the courts can prosecute and get your funds back.

(Plus, if they catch him, the police can blacklist him, and prevent this happening to others).

Well I see it very serious matter here, and if the hackers isn't having anonymous it can be easily traced of it's location for further pursuit. The best ways to make it secure is the type of 2Fa for withdrawal protection for the fund as mentioned lately in this thread here. That name who did the hacking can be traced by the police and the path of the network chain has it's record, and I believe even though it's a hard part of the authority at least this can help recover the lost of the victim. All recommendations here can be applicable in the future so that problems like this might be prevented.

I'm so sorry for what happened to you.
I think there's nothing you can do about it if all of your coins already lost.
Let's make this a lesson, next time use 2FA, different emails and unique password so that your account more secured.
I hope for the best for you, then.

If it has been cashed out already then the exchange would not have anything to do to get back those coins and they wont really refund such thing since its a users responsibility why he has been hacked. For op's situation he might give any informations or leads regarding on his account details or common emails that has being used. Its impossible to think off for someone to get access but its really possible.Setting 2fa might have saved you on this one but sadly you didnt turn it on.

If someon tries to hack an account with different IP then cryptopia sends an email notification with a link where account can be blocked. I got that and blocked my account immidiately. But now don't know the next step. Asked supporr but only got the answer I could reset my password. But how, when account is blocked?

Damn, Just yesterday I heard some accounts were hacked on cryptopia. It usually happens when you post your account related information online, like referral links and all.

Same here, attempted login.  Always use 2FA and you should be fine.  cryptopia lets you choose security questions too which isnt a bad way of securing your account.  If you got your funds stolen, you email may be compromised as well.  change passwords everywhere and check to see if you have a keylogger or something on your computer.  sorry to hear you got funds stolen.

User accounts have been accessed because other websites have been hacked and the users that have had their accounts hacked are likely to have used the same passwords on the sites that got hacked and did not have 2FA enabled.

It is recommended that you have a unique email address with 2FA enabled just for only one exchange and not for general use. It is also recommended that you use a unique strong password that is not used anywhere else and that 2FA is enabled on your account.

You can check if your email address has been compromised by hacks on other websites. https://haveibeenpwned.com/
