Cryptocurrency is representing a dream...a dream when we can get away from the control, power and influence of the government most especially with finance and economy. This includes minimizing the control of central banking on matter on matters of policies and economic direction.

However, correct me if I am wrong, the battle has not yet started and it looks we the many Bitcoin or crypto enthusiasts are on the losing side. We have just witnessed how a single pronouncement or a news can drastically affect the value of the Bitcoin market.

Now, what would happen if many of the big governments would one day declare Bitcoin to be illegal? Will it mean that realistically it is the government who is winning in this battle? Or is there really a battle in the first place?

Tell me your convictions and dreams regarding Bitcoin.

Personally, I don't think we are in the losing side. This war will be on and long. Its gonna be a battle of attrition. However, it will evolved and we are going to adapt to the ever changing government stance against bitcoin. They have been openly declaring war on the crypto world ever since it gained prominence amongst us. But they can't stop it. I think the announcement coming from the Chinese government may have inadvertently trigger the price to go down. But I do believe that we can recover again and we may see this cycle again once other government follow suit. But as I have said, its really up to us on how we gonna adapt in this trying times. Are we gonna let them shattered our dreams? or are we going to continue to support bitcoin and crypto ecosystem in general?

We do not need just the governments to be enemies to Bitcoiners. Scammers, bad developers, thieves, hackers, aggressive market manipulators, day traders/scalpers and pump and dump groups are also the enemies within. Unless we can curb all the bad influences inside of Bitcoin and Altcoin spaces, do not think for one moment that all this will be left so unregulated and unnoticed. If we cannot self regulate our actions to act responsibly and not be so utterly ruthless and selfish in our quest for wealth creation, then we will end up being regulated by bigger forces than us.

It's an easy war for the government. They say, everyone follows what they order. One of two persons can decline and follow their own convictions, but they are too weak and have no power against the government. If governments want Bitcoin illegal or regulated, it will be. For most people the war didn't start yet, but when it starts the winner will be always the strongest side, the government.

That's exactly what I have shared when someone people were commenting that government cannot stop bitcoin or shut down the internet without knowing that they don't even need to go that far but just a single policy might shake the market but now we see but at the same time, if bitcoin price does not respond the news I will be worried it shows bitcoin is still growing and no infallible.

I really think that governments have gave up fighting Bitcoin. Maybe they are not embracing it and introducing it fully into system but modern governments in civilized countries will not declare Bitcoin illegal, not anymore. Believe me, this whole negative relation between government and Bitcoin will change soon.

They will never give up. They're literally fighting with bitcoin and alt coins. I've never anticipated that they could be winning, but this time central organizations are in front of blockchain community.

The freedom of Bitcoin from governments ended with taxes. Most governments, I guess, are not intetested to battle Bitcoins because of huge profits.

Governments rarely agree on anything. There's a constant rivalry between them. Even if their leaders smile and shake hands it's just for show.
That is why I'm not afraid of a global anti bitcoin agreement. If some countries decided to ban it they'd be making it more profitable for others to accept it.
With Japan accepting it and other countries like Vietnam waiting in line, regulation in the US and EU having nothing against it,  it's just not going to happen.

  - This won't be happen for sure, because if you know what happened before in Russia and China these both country they banned bitcoin, right? but in a short period of time they revoked it. Instead, they'll ride on the trend also they adopt the system of bitcoin up to now. And for sure in the near future there are more nations are preparing themselves to make bitcoin legalize to their own country as what Japan did a couple of months ago.

That may be true, for now. If bitcoin could have lots of supporter from every country, then we stand a chance againts the government. When talking about national, the majority of people always hold the power.

There is nothing wrong with what the Chinese government has done. Because the ICOs are really harmful because they are purely scams. Many people lose money because of that, and of course the government has to be involved. Because I think it's still going to work, the number of robbers is likely to increase. The china is well done that stops the ICO and not the bitcoins itself

The Chinese government plans to ban risky ICOs but not crypto currencies as a whole (at least this is what I understand). Of course they try to regulate and control everything. Let's hope that they will not declare Bitcoin&Co illegal on day. This would drive the whole crypto scene into the underground.

Because that is what it all was. A dream. Whoever said we can get away from the oppressive nature of the government is dreaming. We should wake up and accept our fate.

It is not a battle. Those are panic sellers who dumped in the market making the price go down. The government only did their jobs to ban crowdsales because they are illegal.

I agree with what you have said...
The China's step was not intended to kill Bitcoin or cryptocurrency as a whole....
It is done with the primordial concern for their citizens.
Bitcoin price may have been affected by this decision simply because there's a lot of Chinese bitcoin holders.
Some of them may have been frightened with such decision which lead them to sell their coins..
Which then resulted to increase in supply then the price suffered.
But i do believe that it may not take that long for bitcoin and other coins to recover...

Governments, and especially China, have been "banning" and "unbanning" cryptocurrencies for years now. I'm not sure why people are even fazed anymore.

China's statement regarding ICOs was only a matter of time, even the SEC already issued a warning. The PBOC doesn't like beating around the bush as much as the SEC does, so naturally their statement was a bit more straightforward.

I don't think that cryptocurrencies will ever get globally banned. There's too much potential and most governments are clever enough to see this. Banning cryptocurrencies in general means potentially missing out on the fruits it might bear. There's much money and technology involved, two things no country wants to fall behind with.

that dream you are talking about is the dream of having a currency that no one controls. aka a decentralized currency.
but what happened so far is that bitcoin is the only "currency" and the rest are all investments to make more of bitcoin which is also turning mostly into an investment.
now what government has done is that they have set rules for this investment and they can never set rules for the currency part.

and besides this recent news was about ICOs which are in reality "scams".

The Chinese government plans to ban risky ICOs but not crypto currencies as a whole (at least this is what I understand). Of course they try to regulate and control everything. Let's hope that they will not declare Bitcoin&Co illegal on day. This would drive the whole crypto scene into the underground.
it's the first step; the chinese government cannot hope to regulate bitcoin without drastic measures; controlling the miners (51% attack) is one possibility that comes to mind in giving control. however. even if they manage this, they would have to continue maintaining that hashrate to maintain control. it might not be the best way, but its just one potential method off the top of my head. i dont think at all it would be economically feasible for any organization to do this, so they do what they can: in this case, the chinese government outlawed ICO's in order to (this is just what i think) hinder decentralized projects that it cannot oversee and control if necessary.

theres nothing here. message me if you want to put something here.

If we cannot self regulate our actions to act responsibly and not be so utterly ruthless and selfish in our quest for wealth creation, then we will end up being regulated by bigger forces than us.

good analysis IMO, the Bitcoin and Crypto decentralisation and
unregulation is proving to be its negative feature instead of its
positive one. Sometimes it feels like we are all left to our own
devices and anything goes. Now we have a major world government
stepping in to a degree to try and regulate of sorts a portion
of the chaos.

the government can not do anything since bitcoin is nearly anonymous and if the users choose to become anonymous to the government, they can never know who use bitcoin. The only thing that the government can do is to slow the process of being a world currency of bitcoin. The number of people using bitcoin is increasing day by day and therefore, no one can ban it right now

I tend to agree. I think that a few years ago, governments were considering banning or severely restricting it. But they were smart enough to realize that since they couldn't control it, that they would only lose market share to other countries by doing so.

If BTC and cryptocurrencies are here to stay, you can be sure that some governments will push for their major cities to be hubs for cryptocurrency finance. There is already a lot of money on the table, and there will be a lot more to come if/when BTC goes mainstream. I think that governments can see that now.

Are we gonna let them shattered our dreams? or are we going to continue to support bitcoin and crypto ecosystem in general?

yeah the hard decisions is up to us who supported bitcoin, for me whether they declare a war bitcoin world vs government i really want to support bitcoin and continue supporting it what ever it takes, because all of my dreams are depend on bitcoin. but i think the only one problem that the other country want to manipulate this bitcoin are those big government who wants to destroy it because bitcoin is spreading itself and get wider to whole world.

It's surely a dream because it reaches really high values compared to dollar. I believe governments have not yet accepted bitcoin and they will do everything to not make it easy to bitcoin because of it's illegal activities. In the end the government won't just let another currency be a way to do illegal activities, so they have to sort these issues somehow, and then think about the implementation of it in their countries.

I think the government can not unilaterize bitcoin unilaterally, which if it happens then the most aggrieved party is we as bitcoin hunters, but the government must socialize in advance the reason why it should be legalized, if the reason is good, then we can not help the rules

Then how one of the developed country Japan adopted bitcoin as a legal money in their country. Other corrupted countries will be fear bitcoin because they cannot do the corruption and earning in politics and using government. If bitcoin is been implemented then every transaction will be recorded in the concern btc address.

Crypto currency is still a work in progress the news about chinese banning icos are specifically for icos not the established crypto currency I don't think Bitcoin will go lower than $3000 again, so much has been done and experts and big names in the industry will see to it that the core is very strong.

Agreed, but there will always be scammers and thieves for whenever there is money. This is simply something that we cannot avoid. The issue of government oppresion on bitcoin is the issue that we can tackle, and so i think that is the only force that we should try to overthrow in terms of control over economy

I really think that governments have gave up fighting Bitcoin. Maybe they are not embracing it and introducing it fully into system but modern governments in civilized countries will not declare Bitcoin illegal, not anymore. Believe me, this whole negative relation between government and Bitcoin will change soon.
Yes it's already been noticed that the governments of most of the countries are more bitcoin friendly and have a positive attitude towards bitcoin than the negative one. There are countries like Japan, Russia, Vietnam, India even Germany and France they may have plans of regulating it but only with the view to ensure that bitcoin is not used for crimes and illegal activities. I think neither we the bitcoin enthusiasts are on the losing side nor are the governments are on the winning side because there seems to be no battle between bitcoin and governments.

bitcoin was once illegal but it did goes well still, look at the price right now. we use to complain its price was below $1k and now that its more than $4k, we still are going to complain? i doubt we are on the losing side. there are tons of tokens and coins right now. if  they ban btc, there is eth and the rest of the coins which also has value.

I will try to reply your question. the government will not win and the people is its king. My belief that bitcoin will still exist, if the government declares illegal I don't care, because the government does not give me money or coins. BTC makes it easy for people to business on the internet, my dream should the government support and legalize.

They way in which major central governments like japan and russia turned their attitude of considering the  matter of bitcoin, alerts nations that there is nothing like illegal in procuring bitcoins.
This is a self evidence to alternate centres that they have no chance being successful in this battle.
In future,i beleive bitcoin would be only acceptable digital coin out of altcoins.

If there is a pending trade on the Internet with bitcoin we are not threatened by anything. Let the government tells everyone what they want, but they won't be able to do. Governments don't like offshoring what? They have nothing to do with them.

Bitcoin itself may be free of government regulatory control, but governments will always be able to exert an element of control through taxation (especially if the much-vaunted mass adoption is to occur).

- UK government already does this to an extent through Capital Gains Tax. If you sell up and convert to FIAT, you are liable to pay.
- As adoption increases, govt can put onus on vendors to charge VAT. If you want your purchases protected (consumer protection) the transaction will need to be recorded and will be on vendor accounts.
- Informal payments (including but not limited to black economy) won't be taxed, same as now with FIAT.

You can try and bypass taxation, but then you're technically committing a crime (insert your own caveat re. big business here).

BTC offers freedom from the existing banking system, not taxation.

Bitcoin at worst will get heavily regulated by most of the major governments, and that's really it. If I look at how things were back in 2013/2014/2015, everything was still more or less a joke. I could just buy and sell Bitcoin at any exchange or service without a single form of verification. I could cash out my profits without any problems in terms of paying tax - my local government didn't even know what Bitcoin was. Currently this all has changed as everything has become a whole lot more serious. I believe that in the forthcoming years things will get even more serious as crypto in general is a growing industry. Governments just need time to catch up, but more regulations are to be expected.

Tell me your convictions and dreams regarding Bitcoin.

Governments can't make Bitcoin illegal, because they know in the long term Bitcoin would survive that too. So think about it, you are the government, declare Bitcoin illegal, the price crashes, but a year or two later it's going back up. What can you do or say anymore after that? Nothing, you already dealt your final card. This is why governments can't go all in against BTC, because if it survives (and it would) after that move, they can't no longer scare investors away.

They will keep regulating exchanges, ICOs and all that, but they can't do nothing against Bitcoin itself.

It appears that the goverment  really has the power shake the movement of the market price and create panic on everyone. this may affect the market to slowdown but it doesnt mean it will massively tear it apart.

I dont think the goverment of china, are trying to kill it.they just want to prevent pruedelent activity and bubble burst that may cause a huge effect on there people and economy, i think this time a lot of bad/fake characters behind ico project will sweap away soon.

If a big country ban bitcoin, yes it's a problem and may cause panic sell and the price will crash again.
I agree that we're not in the war, most government does not have detailed policies of regulating or banning bitcoins usage.
In that case, we still be able to use and trade bitcoin, as long as we do not use it for legal activities such as money laundering.
Some countries started to consider regulate bitcoin, intrigued by Japan that has legalized bitcoin as legal payment and it's going so well in their country. The best way about bitcoin is, it's decentralized which can not be controlled by government, they could ban bitcoin and exchanges, but people will always find some way to deal with the regulations.

The answer is no. Government definitely can make rules. But just like darkweb, such markets can also thrive without the acknowledgement of government. It isn't easy to ban anything on internet. There are thousands of ways to escape. Indeed if found it would be against law. But how many are caught using darkweb everyday?

actually this has happened in China. their government considers that bitcoin will be uncontrolled or untraceable (because of its anonymous system). the Chinese government tries to prevent it by limiting and even prohibiting all ICO activities.

I really think that governments have gave up fighting Bitcoin. Maybe they are not embracing it and introducing it fully into system but modern governments in civilized countries will not declare Bitcoin illegal, not anymore. Believe me, this whole negative relation between government and Bitcoin will change soon.

Governments have not given up. They have not even started their war against the crypto community. Governments still thinks that crypto will never be big, so they neglect the impact it will have.
Once bitcoin and altcoin becomes mainstream in 2020, the governments will invest massively in fighting crypto, that is when the real war against us begins. So be prepared. Secure your coins. Prepare for raids and cops knocking on your door wanting your keys. Its gonna get crazy!

than say the goverments gave up of fighting bitcoin, I think that goverments don't want to fight bitcoin. what I know, there are two kind of government, those who think of people welfare, and those who think of himself. The first camp, is always find a good way for the good of the people in term of economic or other term. And they know that crypto is a future where there will be no cheating in it, that's why they supported it. The second camp are know that bitcoin is a threat. Thats why this both camp are always compete eachother, So the bitcoin still exist. and sometimes pump and dump happen.

All of that could be avoided if current bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency users would just spread the word and make bitcoin understadable to the wide public, awareness is what will keep a good and clean name to bitcoin, if people are aware the media and the governament will follow.
But let's face it we're not doing our jobs, In real life whenever someone wants me to explain what bitcoin is all about i usually try avoiding cause it's a pain in the ass to explain while i know that's the wrong thing to do...

The whole concept of bitcoin is to break the shackle and achieve the financial freedom. For that we need no government approval. What we need is freedom from government control. If government ban bitcoin, it will only strengthen the cause of bitcoin.
Bitcoin can survive any ban because it is people's money

Tell me your convictions and dreams regarding Bitcoin.

If they would really want to declare a war is not going to be a war is going to be a massacre.
First no business will be able to say we accept bitcoins.

Then all websites accepting coins will be forced to flee to god knows what .tld domains and servers.
People dealing with localbitcoins will have to run in the woods.
Banks will be forced to stop transactions from and to exchanges.

Price will go to 10$ in a matter of days.
All major projects cancelled , back to silkroad...oh wait

Yes that's really need an attention. Government will always have their limitations and they can not start banning everything over the internet. I don't believe that China will stay away from the ICO and crypto related projects. They know it very that china is amongst top most list where mining is at peak level. Don't forget most of the mining hardware is also manufactured at china location only. There has to be something fishy going on internally and who knows these people might just re open the portal and rules with flood of investment coming from the China.

Cryptocurrency is representing a dream...a dream when we can get away from the control, power and influence of the government most especially with finance and economy. This includes minimizing the control of central banking on matter on matters of policies and economic direction.

There will be no battle - if governments wanted, they'd banned cryptocurrencies right from the beggining when the first exchanges emerged. Even now there's no sign that they are under a threat - China is just an authoritarian communist government, they hate freedom and always try to ban everything that expands it. And yet they haven't banned cryptocurrencies themselves - only ICO's, because so many of them are just scams. Soon Bitcoin will continue to grow just like before.

In the case if the government will admit bitcoin as illegal there will not be a winner. All sides will loose. Firstly the government will loose a good part of income and the whole economy inside of the country will fall down. And bitcoin users also will be in minus. Many people will loose their jobs and incomes based on bitcoin and crypto, for many people it is the only source of money, so they will have to take loans and debs to survive. I hope the government understands that clearly and they will never ban bitcoin.

We all know that cryptocurrency market is a very volatile one since its not based on any economy of the world just like Gold and other precious metals its value is based on factors concerning most economies of the world and also on the one's who invest in the currency, the more other countries accept bitcoins, the more it gives investors hope which in turn rises the value of bitcoins.

The Government of China is winning not from digital currency investors, but from scammers and illegal fund-raising platform. Good for the Chinese investors, they are now protected from scammer of ICO scheme. Most ICO investors don't have expertise on investing and these worries Government. The Government obligation is to protect the interest of its people.

In the long term, regulations will bring confidence and stability as long as there is no global ban on the crypto. So right now, it seems that it is the people that will benefits the most. Although if there is no ICO, it will certainly means slower development albeit stable in China environment.

The irony. This essentially what distributed currencies are supposed to circumvent, or even eliminate, but it shows the long arm of the Chinese government's influence (and governments in general) can still give you a very bad day. (Currency, investment, or otherwise.)

Personally though, though there is likely going to be more of these, they're temporary, and occurring only as people are going wildly crazy over the concept as it starts hitting the mainstream the way it's doing now. It'll be an interesting roller coaster ride for the next many months.

But overall, while governments can inflict a lot of pain, the upward trend is all but inevitable. And the dream of the underlying technology, once widespread and common, ultimately cannot be stopped, and its many promises coming true will be laid bare.

No, sorry but I want to disagree with you because the government is the voice of the people and its sovereign power lies on the decisions of the people. There is no government if not for its people, so despite the regulations, I still think that crypto can still flourish because the people want and need it. The government just wants to make money so they impose taxes so that they can generate revenue

The government might not win because of many people that already put a lot of efforts, money and etc for cryptocurrency. "In cryptocurrency, we trust." Do that and probably you can erase from your mind that bitcoin will lose and government will win.

The crypto currency system is far away from being a secure one...tons of scams happening and so on...no wonder the chinese banned the use of ICO in their country. The current system that we are living in is broken and corrupt as we all know it but we must be very carefull if we are going to replace it with another like bitcoin...we must assure that we dont trade a corrupt system for another.
With decentralization comes a big responsability. As most of you already know by now, bitcoin transactions are irreversible so no charge backs or refunds can take place. So you really have to make sure you want to send the money before you actually do so. That's the main problem that occurs when people use bitcoin. Just because there are scammers out there doesn't mean that the system is corrupt. If you send money to a scammy ico or fall for a scam it's 100% your fault because you signed the transaction to the scammer's address. That's the harsh truth that comes with decentralization.

but we cant deny the fact that there's a lots of complain that's why the government needed to take some actions but moving back to
the principle bitcoin/crypto currency was  originally designed for its decentralization purposes so government should not be there
to interfere.

as long as anyone believes in blockchain technology , and many people still need Bitcoin , any storm will get hit.
system that is decentralized make bitcoin keep strong , all want financial freedom, transparency of data according to facts without any institution or person can change its contents. that's a plus Bitcoin and blockchain.

Here is the thing. The moment governments ban something, it goes underground. In most countries unemployment is high

and economies are struggling. When the economy struggle, tax income is low. So it is in their best interest to keep Bitcoin

legal. {they will regulate it to death though} Bitcoin stimulate innovation and create job opportunities for 1000s of people.

Once it goes underground, all that tax income is gone.  Wink

the government can not do anything since bitcoin is nearly anonymous and if the users choose to become anonymous to the government, they can never know who use bitcoin. The only thing that the government can do is to slow the process of being a world currency of bitcoin. The number of people using bitcoin is increasing day by day and therefore, no one can ban it right now
not entirely anonymous, there have been multiple big cases of an address and coins being linked to specific individuals, such as the case with the silk road founder ross ulbricht. remember, everything you do regarding bitcoin, weather it be receiving or sending, all transactions are stored and viewable on the blockchain. as long as you've put your identity out there with any transaction, your identity is now tied to that address, and if there were multiple inputs in the transaction, your entire wallet's addresses could be linked back to you. of course, i dont think anyone should ever be interested in going so far to track a person's addresses down, but if someone's got the time and effort to put into it, its more than possible.

theres nothing here. message me if you want to put something here.

In my own opinion, it is not the government that scares cryptocurrency. China banned ICO because there are lits if scammers out there. I have recently joined a social media group of bitcoin earners and as what I had found out 99% of it are all scam! Since bitcoin became popular and the price gets high, people became so greedy that they are willing to trade their soul just to own a bitcoin.
However, I know this is not the end of bitcoin world. These are just one of the trials that bitcoin has to face. Bitcoin have come this far and surely it will never give up just like that.

The government might not win because of many people that already put a lot of efforts, money and etc for cryptocurrency. "In cryptocurrency, we trust." Do that and probably you can erase from your mind that bitcoin will lose and government will win.
How can you say such thing so confidently? I would suggest that you have to trust no one but yourself. Those efforts that they've done has nothing to do with those people who've corrupt intentions. Cryptocurrencies are just mere tools, the users are the problems here. You see, the reputation of these coins are being tainted by these people that they were saying that this coins are just scams and eventually the government will have to take action to it making in banned. Although in fact that it is just misunderstanding.

I don't see any battle that is going on, so losing is not yet realized, it is normal for any tradings drastic effects on any news due to peoples reaction and not the governments faults or any. you are free to Use bitcoin nothing can stop you

First and foremost, any sane government in her right sense of mind will not declare bitcoin illegal but probably introduce a strict policy for control in its usage to reduce illegal activities by its users. If a government declares bitcoin illegal today, give them time and see if they won't be compelled to come around.  Moreover, nothing good comes to stay without a battle. Bitcoin is obviously stepping on toes and will step on more, but all these won't be a huge problem for bitcoin as far as I am concerned.

The government and banks will win, once it is legalized and taxed. That is there only source of income out of it.

Currently they are losing money since most cryptocoins are undeclared and untraceable.

it sounds ridiculous. The government depends on the citizen. How can the government win in the battle without any support from the people? You are wrong. Even they can ban cryptocurrency or bitcoin, they can not make it weaker at all. it will continue to grow and prove to the people that it can make the world better. So, do not rely on the government and do not trust anything that they say.

50 years of communism tell another story.
70 or so years of NK history also might tell you are the one that is wrong about this.

In extreme situation the government will be able to ban everything.
Don't compare the prohibition with bitcoin.

Everyone could make their own home made brew, nobody can alone buy and sell bitcoins and transfer them without a second person and the infrastructure.

But a ban will not happen. Never.
And pray that there won't be one.

well it is not happening because the government is not doing anything for the betterment of the people but the bitcoin is now anonymous and if the people become anonymous they will not be able to know who is using bitcoin and where bitcoin is being use the one thing that bitcoin will show to the government is the growing price and the value of the bitcoin so no one can beat bitcoin ever.

I have noticed in the last couple of weeks several "end of bitcoin" news articles coming out from left leaning main stream media. This is something I have not seen before as usually FUD is buried deep in the cryto news networks. Something about this is troubling me now that front page in my local news says "is this the end of bitcoin?". I get the feeling there is a growing force out there (governments) to undermine bitcoin and devalue it to zero.

The government essentially gets to control our fiat money through Central Banks (well, technically it's an entity higher than the government). While the government can't directly influence or print more Bitcoins on demand like they can with Fiat money, they can definitely regulate the crap out of it.

We could be taxed for purchases in the future, or entrepreneurship/contracts could be limited without reporting, etc.

The reality is that Bitcoin is increasing in value, while the economy is experiencing serious credit bubble issues. Depending on the cryptocoins that win out in the next 5-10 years maybe the government will adopt Ripple or another crypto and change the perspective of everything.

Whatever happens, the government won't be winning. The people will be !

We are really on the losing side, some of the post that I have read earlier said that bitcoin core developers somehow continue to upgrade without considering the concerns of the community, I forgot the name of the poster but that's the thought of what the poster said. I think bitcoin core developers is trying to control the bitcoin. That's my opinion and speculation and i am sorry if this sounds rude, please do correct me if i'm wrong.

Bitcoin will never be illegal. A lot of people from government from any country already use bitcoins
Yes bitcoins is new technology even many countries has adopted technology of blockchain and there are some countries made bitcoins to be legalitation for currency, the government of countries that can adopt new technology will survive in the future, when crisis happen, inflation and it can be anticipated with bitcoins, even the government won't it, the people want it.

Yes! I get your point and this is actually what scares me. The government can be evil especially when it comes to money. We can not stop the government if it will make bitcoin illegal. The government should be serving the people, but we all know that they serve themselves more. Not all, but a lot. Government officials will not make themselves left behind from earning something. If the government will know how big Bitcoin is now, it might ban Bitcoin already.

You know what, I have same opinion but what exactly my curiosity is at the moment that to what extent the governments possess the power in the world of crypto currencies. If they ban bitcoins, I think it should not stop the usage of bitcoins as internet is under no one's control.

It is possible only when the governments banned bitcoin in their respective countries. Otherwise it is not possible for them to control all about the bitcoin, because it is not a paper currency.
It is a digital currency and it has no physical existence, so it will be very difficult for them to take control over the buying, selling and using bitcoin. I think the officials must accept the importance of bitcoin.

Yes exactly, I don't know why these people wouldn't understand a simple logic as that. I mean its pretty obvious like so. They wouldn't understand the true concept Bitcoin itself. They wouldn't even know the meaning of decentralized currency, They've already spent enough time to get it but why are they like this?

Which government from which country are you specifically point towards? I'm quite sure ultimately there will be government that can accept and advocate the concept of BTC and when the rest have seen what BTC could do, they might change their mind afterwards as well. Even China is not banning ICO outright (who doesn't love money?), ICO will still be back after they have sort out all the regulations and rule, to make ICO better eventually!

My point of thinking as well because from the look of things the "winning" that the government seems to have is being handed over to them by the players in the industry that tend to create panics and that winning will even be short lived the moment the market is back in place then they realise that their attack can only shake us but not drown us.

The real question for cryptocurrencies is whether global ban on them would prevent their mass adoption or only delay it? The whole point of crypto is its ability to withstand any direct attacks, but it would be up to people to risk their freedom and wealth (if crypto will be illegal) to get more financial freedom. Take weed for example - it was illegal in all states, yet very high percentage of population tried it at least once, similar can happen if crypto will be banned - people will continue to use it nonetheless, if they will clearly see benefits for them. What is important is that cryptocurrencies need to continue improving, and offer better privacy and scalability, so they can compete better with legacy financial system.

government is only taking advantages of our weaknesses. we the bitcoins have never hide any information related to Bitcoin but still, people who are less familiar with the Bitcoin is being affected by the rumors spread by governments. they are the politicians they play with people's mind. I think it is no point on winning or losing because we have to spread the awareness to humans so that they can understand why exactly Bitcoin has these weaknesses.

What weakness are you blubbering about? I never heard of Bitcoin having weakness, since the government are desperate in making this currency be a centralized one. But the thing is they can't crack the code out of it. I agree in the part that the government are using political aspects so that they could convince people not to use Bitcoin, so that they can have less problems in the future. But the truth is the community is still growing in positive rate. The people have never been the weakness of Bitcoin but it is the weakness of the people it self. Since they are not familiar and not that aware about Bitcoin.

I'm not taking this issue lightly or it just that I can't see any possibilities either.. Government and bitcoin are now working to regulate and take bitcoin to the next level for legalization.. It was so absurd to think they will totally banned bitcoin as a whole,, for it will only shows they're greed of money from bankers.. It will only put them on bad lights and it will be chaos in the long run..

This is all nothing but false accusation and all. The government are just being too desperate in making the cryptos their own and monopolize it. But they can't do such a thing, because the thing is we already know what is the true capabilities of these coins and we wouldn't be so naive to believe such news, that it is just merely impossible.

I think the government is overwhelmed with bitcoin, especially if the government wants to impose a tax on bitcoin users, it will be very difficult, because bitcoin users are very difficult to track and are anonymous, I think it will take a very long time if the government wants to fight and apply taxes against bitcoin

Nope I don't think the government is winning anything. As long as Bitcoin remains Decentralized maybe with just little centralization, no government can censor it.
Bitcoin reacting to News is pretty normal even Fiat react to news in thesame way which is why people trade forex.

You mustn't always lose when Bitcoin dips If you know what you doing. Experienced traders made lots of money from that fall... so you still profit from price fluctuating in both ways.

i think "WE" [enthusiast of bitcoin and altcoin] are not in the losing side and we are not enemy of the government and banks and vice versa. The real enemy here are those Scammers, Thieves, Online Criminal that use bitcoin and other altcoin to there unlawful businesses. If we dont take an action and let this happen that can defile the name of Cryptocurrency in the world, that will be the start that government will take action and regulate it. We must first discipline our self and dont be too greedy to attain our financial freedom and wealth. If we abuse its function we will all end up with nothing.

Pump and dump is part of game and the real strategic player is that one who play successfully in crucial time and stay calm dump is also good for the investors they can make money from it also as they need to think about it and many of investor buy a lot in dump because they knew well that this will give them huge profit in the time of pump.

it is not a war against bitcoin but it is a war against the people who hold that bitcoin but use it in undesirable purpose like drug trafficking, money laundering, ransoms, tax evasion from crypto trading. Statelessness is what the criminals and villains dream because they want to dominate by their evil powers and the weak is their slaves, and need no protection. Government must regulate the usage of bitcoin to citizens as it is for our own good. Tax is what we pay the government to protect the people in accordance with the law. Fraudulent investors, businessmen and traders hate government because they think they take away their money of course indeed because that money is not from a legal transactions. Everybody must win between, the government and the bitcoin community to sustain this crypto currency world. If you use that crypto for fiat currency exchange - the government owned currency then government should take their shares too.

We need not only rules to become enemies for Bitcoiners. bad developers, thieves, hackers. If we can not control all the bad things in the room of Bitcoin and Altcoin, do not think for a moment all of this will retreat so unregulated and unnoticed. If we do not organize our actions against our cruel and selfish effort in making extra money, then we will end up with a greater advantage over us.

I don't think that the government can stop cryptocurrency. It's the entire purpose of it. Any ideas of how it could actually stop cryptocurrency from being used?
