What are some good alternative exchanges to Mt Gox?

You can't win if you don't play. But you can't play if you lose all your chips. First I found bitcoin (BTC). Then I found something better, Monero (XMR). See GetMonero.org

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

According to my signature, just TradeHill.

They have not been in the game long, however they have backing by a lot of "major" / "power" Bitcoin users.

I suggest looking at something like http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ to see options Smiley

Neither Mt Gox or TradeHill was very inspiring in their interview.  Tradehill's security seems weak.  Mt. Gox is telling a fishy story.

Has anybody used BitMarket.eu or ExchangeBitcoins.com ? If so, please share your experiences, good or bad.

I've tried one trade each on TradeHill and ExchangeBitcoins. TradeHill screwed up my dwolla and took over two weeks to fix it. Actually I figured out a workaround before they ever fixed it. ExchangeBitcoins went quite smoothly. I've just emailed them asking for a little more info about their operations.

Really? So far I feel like mt gox has been doing a good job relaying information about this security breach.

Just started trading on ExchangeBitcoins. Also went smoothly, plus their API works fine (after minor adjustments to my MtGox bot).
Haven't tested withdrawals though, but everything seems encouraging so far.
It just needs some proper Volume now Smiley

Cheers

I'm a big fan of Bitmarket.eu. Unlike other exchanges, you don't send funds before hand. As such, bitmarket.eu only acts as an escrow. But it does it fairly well with a nice interface.

The only problem is, of course, that everything is slower: if you buy 10BTC, you have to send the money by wire transfer and wait that it is confirmed (3-4 days) before you receive the coins.

On the other hand, it allows you to buy very quickly :-)

I'm going to Tradehill.  I'm going to move my coins out of mtgox if/when I get my account back.   I think there has been a lack of communication from mtgox from my point of view and I'm > 40 hours since I submitted my claim to get my account back w/o any word.  I don't trust them at this point.   I may just decide to sit on my coins as I mine them for a while.

I've just made my first trade on Bitcoin7 today and all went well, although they don't have that much trading going on yet.

I went for an offer higher than what was the minimum immediate buy and still didn't have to wait much before someone purchased my coins.

I'll vouch for Tradehill.  Been trading on their exchange for a couple weeks now, no problems and have been very satisfied with the experience there.
