Hi everyone, Today we've successfully forked our testnet to v8 featuring our new original design and implementation of what we'll be calling the SECOR (Simple Extended Consensus Resolution) protocol, delivering Uncle Mining that will increase network security, deliver faster blocks, and reward miners for their hard work that would've otherwise been orphaned. This blockchain advancement feature is cutting edge and a first in the CryptoNote space, and as such we need your help to review our work: bounties of up to 10,000 MSR (100 MSR minimum, depending on the severity of the finding) will be handed out for each new vulnerability discovered in our SECOR uncle mining design and implementation - I'll be publishing a whitepaper on SECOR to help with this peer review process. Happy (testnet) fork day! Best regards, Thaer Informational one-pager: https://twitter.com/masaricurrency/status/1044234936453029888Github: https://github.com/masari-project/masariGreat job Thaer and Cryptochangements. Waiting for mainnet and whitepaper

This project caught my attention because I have noticed that the developer is highly envolved in his project and gives me the feeling that he is well knowledged about the subject. The developer and his skills are one third of the project, the other third are his intentions and the last third the product itself.
Can the developer, or anyone else skilled to do so, answer the following questions to this leek?
- What solution does MASARI give and to which problem, that other existing products do not provide? - What motivates you as developer to work on this product? - What world do you see in five years and what is the role of Masari in it? - How do you explain to a world that knows nothing about cryptocurrency that Masari is the future? (ELI5)
Like I said before, I am a leek myself. I don't know anything about the technical backend of cryptocurrency. But I do understand terms like speed of transactions, successrate of transactions, safety of a transaction, safety of the user, safety of the wallet, privacy, cost of energy, profit, profit of the processor, RoI, main use of the coin, ... This is the same thing the common people understand in this world. The product than can give me the best answer to those questions is the product that will get my life funds pumped into it, because that one will be the one that will win the cryptorace. I just wonder if it will be Masari.
With regards Sintypitch

Hey, check these podcasts out, he summed up pretty much the things you asked about https://thebitcoinpodcast.com/hashing-it-out-14/And the first part of this podcast https://anchor.fm/CoachCryptos/episodes/Masari--EGEM-SFRX-feat--Thaer-e2hbk9/a-a6aa7rPS. There are other people involved other than him, who have made excellent projects such as the first client-side web wallet, and uncle mining as soon as it goes through testnet. It's quite community-driven rather than being a one-man project.

The Talking Cryptocurrency podcast with Masari was taped on Tuesday this week. Jason, the host, set an expectation of about two & a half weeks for it to be published. So look for that to be released around the beginning of December. The Proof of Work podcast with Masari taped earlier this month is live and hosted on BitTube: https://bit.tube/play?hash=QmYvEiweTy3npFP1fAtPw8SNu3SKz5rfZrUqAiU2sS6Ax6&channel=20427

I am surprised that it's a fund specifically focused on crypto note coins. Why not add other anon currencies as well just in case.

A brave statement as there are technologies that try to achieve decentralization without a blockchain as we know it. Some interesting concepts out there. You should do some research.

Masari now has a security declaration, a requirement for some of the larger exchanges.
Development is still happening too. This shows promise.

What do you mean by they have a security declaration? They declare themselves a security or they have a certificate from a valid public authority confirming that they can operate the way they intend to?

What do you mean by they have a security declaration? They declare themselves a security or they have a certificate from a valid public authority confirming that they can operate the way they intend to? Regulation is going after ICOs and unlicensed securities. Exchanges want a legal opinion that the coin is not a security, and the declarations also provide a layer of financial protection for coin teams. The Masari core team doesn't necessarily want to incorporate around the coin so we're not held personally liable for market losses. The security declaration helps in both of those regards and we have one now. Even for the most casual observer it's pretty easy to see that Masari isn't a security. This is just a formal proclomation of that.

It's going to be interesting to see how many tokens will eventually be qualified as a security and where the line will be drawn between projects.

Hi everyone, We've recently seen a surge of hashrate that is speculated to have come from FPGAs: Recent services have come up such as those offered by OVH ( https://labs.ovh.com/fpga-accelerators-on-public-cloud ), Intel support guide ( https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/programmable/us/en/pdfs/literature/ug/ug-qs-ias-opencl-a10-v1-0.pdf), as well as peripheral work on libre software projects for ASICs and FPGAs ( https://github.com/altASIC/Open-CryptoNight-ASIC ). Due to this, We're considering a medium-term solution that will retain decentralization, where we are considering Boolberry's Wild Keccak (WK) PoW ( https://boolberry.com/files/Block_Chain_Based_Proof_of_Work.pdf ). This design we have found is similar in many ways to ideas in our prior PoW design discussions, and is potentially something we can expand development on if integrated. Currently, only Boolberry and Purk (a fork of BBR) are under this PoW which gives it higher financial risk that permits us more time to research and develop a more permanent PoW. There is a reasonable ecosystem already present that could aid in quicker deployment of such a change to address PoW centralization concerns (as opposed to purely from scratch). We have found existing CPU and OpenCL miners that we can derive from ( https://github.com/mbkuperman/cpuminer-multi-opencl, https://github.com/purkproject/cpuminer-multi, https://github.com/mbkuperman/boolberry-opencl ) Some of the discussion and criticism found on WK includes shared cryptographic concerns ( https://www.docdroid.net/GYEk2YB/eval-mtp-argon2d-final.pdf#page=21 ) with potential optimization exploits identified by @gnock about some of the operations in the PoW, comparisons between CryptoNote (CN) and WK ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=588421.0 ), and the lack of peer review much like CN ( https://github.com/turtlecoin/meta/issues/74#issuecomment-373961063 ). Discussions on alternative medium-term PoW solutions included ones with highly available ASICs (i.e. SHA, Scrypt), PoWs that don't seem much affected by ASICs (Ethash), consideration of all CryptoNote variants as non-viable short-term solutions due to FPGA programmability (we would end up back to square 1), as well as recent relevant research that would be of value ( https://github.com/tromp/cuckoo/blob/master/doc/cuckoo.pdf, https://www.docdroid.net/GYEk2YB/eval-mtp-argon2d-final.pdf) If we were to go through with this, we would likely modify some components of WK, including but not limited to changes in PoW operations, an increase of the iteration count to increase difficulty, and a starting chain scratchpad size that is higher than known FPGAs memory limits: we would call this Fat Keccak, or FatKek for short ( https://i.redd.it/0mk07wzuahny.jpg ). This is a summary initial report that was collaborated by members of the Core team as well as other community members such as @josef, @kacamak, and @dubz. Further feedback is much appreciated and encouraged! Best regards, Thaer
