Yes I modded the BIOS. This is my current configuration https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8J54NDM1ImqODc5UUlkUDVwNEk/view?usp=sharing
I copied the 1500Mhz timing to the 1625,1750 and 2000 timing. That improved the etherium mining from 21 to 24.7MH. I tried to clock the memories in GPU Tweak 2 but that didnt go well hashrate down to 20MH again. Do I need to raise TDP/TDC? Are they to low?

1) Try to  set memclock to 1900-1925, ASUS with Hynix performs well with these settings usually
2) Do you use "blockchain" drivers? What version is installed in system?

works for my,memclock was 2000 i set 1925 ,now i hawe at 5 GPUs  132 Mh earlier 128 Mh with Music

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I didn't modify any TDP/TDC settings if we talking about BIOS. My BIOSes for STRIX cards have only straps changed as well as changed GPU clocks and voltages for them - static vs iriginal "incrementals")
All of my ASUSes work stable in 1900-1950 mem clockings but some of them require more voltage (911 or 923mV)

Hello guys,

This card was troublesome for me too at the begining. It just wouldnt mine better when I oc it.
But I menaged to troubleshoot it and rise eth mining from 21 to 26.

I am talking about https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/MINING-RX470-4G/ this card if the post is about it.

I aplied standard strap mod on card bios - from 1500 to 2000 and patched ati dag fixer.

Later the important thing is to make power limit bigger, on afterburner I set it on +40. If you dont set it the card will underclock itself alone.

You must use afterburner 440 beta 16 for some drivers to make OC work.

Other OC setting are Core Voltage - 30; Core Clock 1260; Memory clock 1970.

Lower or rise core or mem clock if your card is unstable to make it stable.

Please, when you mention the card model, tell also what memory it equipped. For example ASUS 470 STRIX normally could be with Hynix (most often) or Elpida memory onboard, but I have a friend with Samsung (which is extremely rare for ASUS 470's)
As well your GPU clocking is too high for ETH mining IMHO. My 470 STRIXes with Hynix doing 27Mh at gpu 1080 and 1925 mem settings.

I have tried to OC the memories but it has no effect. Im using the latest claymore miner v.10. It lokks somehow the afterburner has no effect when I try to overclock the memories... Its so weird. Its like the cards are running in some auto mode. I even tried to overclock the memories to 2250 but still it ran at almost 25MH...

What miners are you using for etherium mining?

One thing i noticed the GPU is running on 1020Mhz even if I have it clocked to 1200Mhz in afterburner. Does these cards have any kind of auto mode Smiley

Those cards has Hynix memory.
About GPU clock, the mining hashrate for ETH on those cards are very dependable from GPU clock. If I set it to 1100 on example it will mine 24.5 mhs, and they can go up to 26.8 on 1290 (but not stable because of high clock for them).

When you OC cards on Afterburner you must rise power limit, rise it to max and dont worry. When you set GPU clock 1200 but power limit is 0 your card will go 1020 mhz, but if you make Power limit at max, the card will go at 1200 Mhz.
Btw dont rise mem clock so much

Sounds very strange, really, I never met such problems as well as solution you offer. Could it be badly designed VRM or so cheaper manufacturing? I am not too familair with cards design.
Are you using Claymore miner?

Yes I am using Claymore miner.
Yes it is cheaper manufacturing I think. The card use some parts from 470 some from 570. The drivers recognize them as rx 570. Maybe the chip is from 570 but vram from 470. I have few friends with same cards and the same problem they had.
We menaged to make speed a little beter ( 26 mhs ) but it is not power eficient, the sensor shows about 115w (out of wall is more).
Strange is that the cards are marked as MINING but cant mine stable beyond 26-26.6

Well, it proves again ASUS makes cheap junk, which is not good for mining. A year ago or a bit less there were a lot of ASUS cards sales from Amazon Warehouse in "used like new condition". I guess these cards were probably returned by miners who checked them, returned and ordered another ones. BTW another junk IMHO are PowerColor and some XFX cards. The best ones are still MSI and Saphires.

Finally I got an setup that worked.

1. Running AMD Blockchain driver
2. Running afterburner 4.4.0 Beta 16 (raised hashrate with 20->23MH)
3. Modded Bios strapped 1500 to 2000Mhz
4. Needed to raise Pow Eth mining in afterburner to about 8% otherwise GPU was restricted to 1000Mhz
5. After raising powerlimit i got the best mining speed @ about 1070Mhz not worth an Eth goin to 1200Mhz
6. clocked the memory on the whole rig to 1958Mhz. Completly stable. Looks like I can go further with memory but its getting close to unstable.
This resulted in stablr 27MH on all cards. doin about 161MH/s on 6 cards and in techgpu its abou 89W/ card. what do you think about that guys?

Next I will try to calculate the maximum hashrate vs power consumption(price). I think there are more to optimize. Would be great with an automatic GPU tweaker that could go down card level and test drive all parameters without to have do it manually. Do you no about any tool that could do testruns automatically?

Thanks all for the help Kukus, vetevana, noburesu. Great to share thoughts with you, much easier for a beginner on GPU clocking to get some ideas from to trim everything. Ill continue to share my findings with you if I come up to something.

Yes one more thing I also tried this thing with monero but there I needed to raise the power limit to about +11% in afterburner and the GPU to about 1250Mhz@85W. Than I got 4200H/s.

and im running claymores miners in all cases.

You are welcome. You can also try to mod in BIOS (TDC and Max power limit) in this case. Most cards have TDC about 110-115A and Power limit at 115-125, while as I noted, your ASUS cards have about 85 and 95 settings there respectively.
As to me, I prefer to use miner settings in Claymore to change it. I guess 27Mh/s is good for ASUS, i never reach over 27,5 with them

We as Cizgi Elektronik are the distributor of Asus in Turkey for the last 26 years.

Here is the table for Asus Mining RX470-4G OC settings, performance for single Mining and Daul Mining. The mod file (.ROM) also listed here.

These power consuptions would be nice, but unfortunatelly there is also VRM, which uses another "bunch" of power.

Your settings say "100%" power limit. Claymore's -powlim settings are -50 to 50. So what do you mean by that?

I did one click straps (polaris bios editor 1.6.3), TDP 115, max power limig 120 for bios.
And then in miner i do -mclock 1950 -cclock 1150 -mvddc 950 -cvddc 950

I get stable 27.3 per card in 6 card rig (more than 3 days now without restart or anything) with a total of 800w from the wall. I could probably go lower with those voltages too, as ive seen some those with 900 for both voltages. Its quite decent

If i wanted to optimize even more i could as i managed to go over 28 on all except 1 card (main one whose riser goes in pcie16 slot and stalls opencl) with a bit higher memory(going -mclock 1950,1975,1975,1975,1975,1975 for example). But didnt want to bother.
