I don't really know. Maybe people think that they are righteous because of their religion. Religious belief and differences is one of the reason there's terror and violence. One religion won't accept other's belief and they would start having an argument, then there comes war. People should accept differences and we should understand that we should respect other's belief.

If you look at the ancient religions, such as Hinduism, Yazdânism, and Zoroastrianism, they are very tolerant about the other religions. But the same can't be said about modern religions such as Islam and Christianity. The modern religions are always in competition with other religions and sects and this is the root cause for most of the warfare and conflicts around the world.

Religions often ask to kill in the name of their God. Lets take a look at the Bible. Its the book you shake over your head when you yell at gay people. In it, it says at least 23 times that I could find, to kill in the name of god. God asks only one time not to murder, if Christians would just read the bible they would know this, but they cherry pick what they want from the Bible. Totally ridiculous, absurd and hilarious.  Actually they are just using their religion to validate their bad intentions.  They are quoting quotes from their scripture about legal killing which actually a non-sense.  They are just a bunch of lunatics and will kill to satisfy themselves.
