Hello  Smiley

This is a new account because my original account (FrozenCopper) was hacked.  Cry
Since yesterday, I am not able to login using my password. Resetting my password is not possible because I don't get the necessary email. I guess the hacker changed the mail adress.
There are also two suspect posts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399496.msg21720265#msg21720265, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2165319.msg21696557#msg21696557) from the "new owner" of my account...  Angry

Is there any possibility to get my account back?  Smiley

It's only possible if you had a BTC address linked to your account and can send a signed message from that account.

You can use your following Bitcoin addresses to verify that it's your account. You just need a signed message from any of these addresses in the valid format.

If you don't have any access to these wallets then you can even use your wallet address from any personal message of that account if you remember. If you don't have access to any of these wallets then it's difficult to regain the control.

I think much better to move this thread into meta section so that admin can see this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0
And you should add like the other said add the sign message for the address you posted before..
it is a proof that you are the owner of that account..

A solid password. A private mail address. A bitcoin address.

All these stuffs. You are your own security. With the bitcoin address, or Eth address, with subscriptions at campaign.
Don't be stupid at all. Find something pertinent !

Perhaps there is a lapse in security at Bitcointalk?  I have seen whole bunch of Legendary and older (2013) account hacked for no reason.  I seriously doubt that people who have spent such a long time on Bitcointalk would lack basic knowledge in OpSec or securing passwords.  They only get back their account with signed messages in one of the archived signature thread.

communicate with the admins on this site .. im sure they know what to do and i hope you have those proof like the wallet you own .. you can submit printscreen of that btc address to be compare with the bitcoin address used to post before and had the payment ..
etherium address too .. you can give the same address because that account surely posted some addresses in publie for applying to a campaign so for you to be more sure that you own that address be ready for the printscreen of the account (wallet that contains those addresses) in due time you will get your account back

I was alarmed after I saw an active Legendary member with 9 character random alphanumeric plus ascii symbol password got hacked.  He was totally shocked, but eventually got back his account with one of the sign-with-your-private-key thread here.  So it is most likely not from the earlier Bitcointalk hack/leak, i.e. he is active all these years.  The hack happened in late August/early September and I have seen a LOT of hacked account during last few weeks.  So perhaps the leak is ongoing, as I seriously doubt that the password is guessed or brute forced.

First of all, reinstall your PC or remove virus.
Then make sure u never make that mistake again, learn from mistakes, know your mistakes.
Only after that apply to account recovery because otherwise you will loose it again.

Smiley

If you do not have the ability to recover your account, verification may be difficult. I was once in a similar situation, fortunately thanks to the administration of a certain party I was able to recover the account.

If you do not have the ability to recover your account, verification may be difficult. I was once in a similar situation, fortunately thanks to the administration of a certain party I was able to recover the account.

I have been hacked twice in one day.  I am truly shocked.  My account is wafdawg.  I'm a senior member.  I created my account in 2014.  I've sold several coins in market place in the past.  I have an eBay and Youtube associated with my name and BTC address with this account.

When I couldn't log in and I realized my email address was no longer associated with my name I performed a search on how to recover and found this thread.  I created a account named therealwafdawg so I can contact theymos.  Tonight I go to login to see if I have received word about my hacked account and I was hacked again! I now have made this account.  I seriously don't know wtf is going on. Never been hacked before. First time I chalked it up to being hacked and was shocking in of itself. The second time in the same day is ringing alarm bells loudly as I had to associate it the account with a different email address and I used a different password.  If this account gets immediately hacked I have serious concerns about Bitcointalk's security or I am being specifically targeted right now in a manner that I have not yet figured out.

Same story here, my account was hacked as well. Email address had not been changed, but they did change my signature with a link in it and posted in two threads to promote two different coins. Has the database with passwords been compromised?

I can imagine all these old accounts have a relative lage amount of bitcoin and are therefore an interesting start to hjiack email accounts or read private messages to gain further access.

Same thing here. My account was hacked yesterday and my password and email has changed, but I've received a warning email from Bitcointalk with link to block my account if I think it is hacked, so I did it. Now, I'm looking how to recover it, there must be a way. I was Full member.

Same problem here.  My last post was August 9th and by September 21st it was hacked (as evidenced from a post of a user).

I've got no idea what's going on here.

I also got my account hacked and email changed.  I?m in the process of trying to figure out how to get my account back.  So far I have been able to lock my old account via email but that is all I can do.

I am concerned about this issue, a lot of account has been hacked until today. I want to give tips to everyone who read this thread, every time you log out from this forum please clear your browsing data and cookies. Make sure you have an anti-malware software and keep your connection protected by activating firewall and windows defender if you are using windows. Don't ever open porn site because their sites have a lot of virus and malware. I hope this tips are gives a good benefit.

my account just got hacked, too. The person changed the password and mail-adress. All I could do is to lock the account. I have no idea how they could find out my password, since I did not save it anywhere and have firewall and antimalware software installed... how can I get back in charge of my old account? (Atompeace).

Same thing here, it happened to me yesterday.  All I could do is to lock the account, but not sure if it really has been locked.

I didn't put a Bitcoin address to that account. It seems if no Bitcoin address, no way to recover.  But I am thinking,  by common sense, bitcointalk.org should have all the original registeration info in its server which user cannot reach and change. Theoretically, the admin should identify the owner of the account by the registered email (that one from the very beginning), so at least can be reset to the registered email.

Please help,

Our BitcoinTalk account username 'Bitmxittz' is hacked and email is changed possibly.

BTC wallet was trashed or used third party wallet for address associated with BitcoinTalk account and have no more access to that address.

Is there any other way to gain access to stolen account?

Thank You.

There is a new format for accounts recovery which is now much quicker. Please follow the instructions in this link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

I wish you luck.
