Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Great idea, but a link from me would not help Bitcoins image.
Why not? You run a legal business and the fact that you earn money with it proves that you offer services which are obviously deemed useful by people.

Seriously - you provided numerous insightful posts to many threads in this forum and seem to be committed to the Bitcoin project. You are surely a valuable member of the Bitcoin community and I don't see why your site shouldn't be linked to just because some parts of the society might not approve of your business.

We need diversity - Bitcoin is not just for a small niche of society anymore - it is a superior form of money and by itself unpolitical. You yourself said that we should stop trying to sell our own political agendas with Bitcoin. Ironically you're doing just that with not wanting your website linked to - even though I understand you do it out of concern for the Bitcoin project. That is just so noble that I felt compelled to speak up Cheesy

I strongly vote against overly zealous censorship - we all have our cultural/ideological/religious backgrounds but in the end its our diversity that makes us strong. Bitcoin is people's money, so it really should reflect mankind in all its facets!

(sorry for drifting off-topic)

Having said that, I really like the idea of the SEO campaign - keep up your good work thinkweis! I'll contact you once my own site is up.

Why not? You run a legal business and the fact that you earn money with it proves that you offer services which are obviously deemed useful by people.

Oh it IS a legal business, but even in this forum with reasonably literate members there are a dozen posts assuming it is prostitution and illegal. Some people incorrectly perceive my business to be illegal, so associating Bitcoin with it at this point would not be helpful. I can't say "perception does matter, you can't just say they are stupid" and then say "except for my business" LOL. It's my choice, I've suggested the same for a few friends in the Adult industry- that crypto-currency stands the best chance if we accept it, but don't paint the logo on naked women LOL.

It's a personal choice though, I have no problem with Adult business owners who feel otherwise. There are valid points to be made for either side. If I choose to openly accept Bitcoin again I would put it on a single page with search engines blocked until it had much wider adoption.

I strongly vote against overly zealous censorship - we all have our cultural/ideological/religious backgrounds but in the end its our diversity that makes us strong. Bitcoin is people's money, so it really should reflect mankind in all its facets!

Oh, not censorship- if anyone tried to prevent Adult businesses from participating I would speak out very strongly. It's discretion. Even legal Adult businesses are used to this, we don't just have to abide the law- we have to be VERY good neighbors because the authorities can always find a reason. You don't open near a church/school and then fight it in court- you open someplace else, you don't exercise your right to have loud parties- you keep a low profile. Your staff does not come and go in a working class neighborhood wearing $400 high heels and designer handbags- you make sure they wear college sweatshirts and carry backpacks.

For Adult businesses, discretion when operating in the mainstream is the cost of doing business, it's the same for us with Bitcoin.

Thanks a lot Trader Steve! I haven't had time to check to see who all put links up but I will probably be making a list of all the people that are participating by putting the links on their site so we can make sure everyone is getting a fair exchange of links.

I added you and am listening to your podcast right now. I thought if was going to be so nerdy I would listen all the way through for a laugh but it's actually really good and I intend to continue to listed. I think this will be really good for the community.

bitcoinprofits.us is where I will be launching an info product about bitcoins, for marketers.  "Make money with bitcoins" kinda stuff.  But first, they must know what it is, and what it isn't.

Will do.

EDIT: I cut my finger yesterday. really bad. I have to type with 1 finger on my strong hand.  It's also my clicking finger.  So, I cheated and just copied your links' source code into a text widget.

It gave me an idea... maybe someone can host a "bitcoin-links.html" page and keep it updated, and we can just frame it in a widget. It will always be up to date, and include everyone.  Just a thought.

I'm already working on that. I just have to come up with the php to do it. And to make is so it's scale-able over many sites without messing up the aesthetic of their site.

Why php? Maybe because if it gets too big, it might "break" someone's design? Yeah, I can dig it.

As far as aesthetics, leave that to the site's CSS.  Just add a class to the beginning, and use cannonical style commands.

for example:

Code:
<ul class"btc">
  <li><a href="http://linkhe.re" title="link description" target="_blank">Link Text 1</a></li>
  <li><a href="http://linkhe.re" title="link description" target="_blank">Link Text 2</a></li>
  <li><a href="http://linkhe.re" title="link description" target="_blank">Link Text 3</a></li>
  <li><a href="http://linkhe.re" title="link description" target="_blank">Link Text 4</a></li>
  <li><a href="http://linkhe.re" title="link description" target="_blank">Link Text 5</a></li>
</ul>

Code:
/* CSS */
ul.btc { some-code: here;}
ul.btc li {link-code: here;}
ul.btc li a {link-style:code;
}

Hi, this is a really interresting idea. there's still directories that people did (paid or not paid) only for bitcoin.

http://bitcoindirectory.net/
http://www.bitcoindir.com/
http://www.bitcoindirectory.com/
http://bitcoinlinks.com/

are four of them.

Probably articles directories and others SEO friendly websites like that will start to pop.

Btw if you want to consider my link: BTCrow.com - Bitcoin Escrow Service

Ok,

It took some doing because I've never worked with JS before but I went ahead and made up a solution so you don't have to do much work. Just insert

Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://startbitcoin.com/links.js">
</script>

into your page or if you have wordpress the adsense or advertising widget and then go to

http://startbitcoin.com/bitcoinlinks/bitcoinlinks.rar and the bitcoinlinks.css will be in that rar.

This is easier for everyone because there now is a centralized list and it is easy to remove people who are on it but not reciprocating the links.

From the time of this post everyone on the list has 1 week to put this on their site or I am going to have to remove them to make way for people who want to be on the link exchange.

I have dedicated a fair amount of time to getting this working in a way that won't mess up your current designs and also is customizable so please donate for the effort. 1HbdRpinMDQ2cgUWsKiMPDN2icC8rNpS1i

I will respond by posting up the links on those sites when I get a chance.  Will do it on a links page though, not in a sidebar.

I will put your site on the list as soon as you put the links up to be fair to all the people that have already posted links.
