There are many many threads in here. It is too complicated. We cannot find the new proper announcements.

Needed more sub-forum under Announcement (Altcoins)

Code:
-ICO & Presale
-Giveaway & Bounty
-POW Coins
-POS Coins
-Hybrid Coins (POW & POS)
-OTHERS

Each coin announcement in POW/POS section must be announce starting with [ANN][ALGO][SHORT_COIN_NAME]

Example:
Code:
=> [X11][DASH] - anything here
=> [QUARK][BTQ] - anything here
=> [ETHASH][ETC] - anything here
=> [X11][XVP] - anything here

Code:
=> [ICO] - anything here
=> [PRESALE] - anything here

Code:
=> [BOUNTY] - anything here
=> [GIVEAWAY] - anything here

I agree, it's like 50 shitcoin ICO's a day - you cannot differ between "real" coins and scams anymore

I completely agree.

I just took a look and there are 18 pages worth of Altcoin Announcements that have been active today alone.
That's easily over 500 unique threads.

I think additional sub-forums would be a very good idea.

Great! At this time it's very hard to find out good altcoins. we can separate altcoins by catalog such as cap top20/ico/airdrop/signature campaign/give away.

Well some moderation could be good because now there is a lot of projects and you sometimes can't find the right one.

agree with the changes for new posts. Although, what happens to old posts that are still active?

-Old post goes to the others section.
-If your project is a good project, you can create a brand-new thread on the proper section.

We need tidy and clear announcement since so many altcoin announcements.

There are many people who has different needs.

***

Some people likes only POW threads for a specific algo. So the coin dev must use [POW][ALGO]

Code:
A baikal user search for X11, X13, X14, X15, Quark and Qubit algo.
A GPU user search for Ethash, Equihash algo.
Some of GPUs can hash many different algos, Some of GPUs can hash only a few algo.

***

Sope people search for BOUNTY, signature campaign. They only look for it.

***

There is so many different systems on altcoins. All the people lost in the complicated threads.

We need solution ASAP

Great idea.  If not separate subs for each coin type, at lease one for ICOs.  It is tiring having to sort through 50 ICOs to find a legit coin ANN.

There is actually a sub forum for Bounties here but people still use their main threads for campaigns :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0

I think that they should put like [ANN][POW/POS][SHORT_COIN_NAME] and specifics of algo in description but ICO's should have a totally different sub-forum

I gave my vote for separate sections too.

Now it's a little mess around and it's hard to get any real news on a project if you didn't bookmark the topic.

This thread got buried quickly. How do we get it in-front of a mod? Should it be in a different sub?

A moderator's opinion is pretty much worthless on this.

Should it be in a different sub?
No.

I've sent a PM to theymos with a link to it. Whether he will respond here is not something that I would know. Let's wait and see.

I'm aware of the thread - no need to bump it.

Although it's not my call in the end (theymos is the one who can add new boards), I don't think the suggested sections would add much value compared to the immense workload they would create. Just having to figure out the "new revolutionary coin's" specs would generate massive amounts of busywork, let alone deciding whether this new obscure altcoin belongs in one section or another, especially when it's obfuscated via marketing or just shitty presentation (both of whom are equally common). I wouldn't be so skeptical about the number of threads posted in wrong boards after the creation of a new section if 40-60% of my thread moves in Altcoin Discussion wouldn't be to Speculations (Altcoins) - one of the newer boards.

I may consider asking for something akin to a token announcement sub-board some time in the future but I still have to think about it.

I agree, it's like 50 shitcoin ICO's a day - you cannot differ between "real" coins and scams anymore

And yes, you guys are right when listing the problems inherent with using this forum as the sole source of information about an altcoin, along with a thousand other coins. Which is the reason people spam in the first place, because there is no specific board for mining a particular coin, or for services for a coin, or whatever else. The only real answer is to setup coin specific forums, any serious coin will do this. The rest are pump and dumps, or scams that won't be around long enough, and we aren't going to cater to them. We won't setup coin specific boards here either. Spamming is a crutch people have used to get around these limitations, and it's getting out of hand.

A moderator's opinion is pretty much worthless on this.
Not completely. While I can't create boards on my own, I can and have both requested and had new boards created within the altcoin sections.
