Guys, I am telling you - this is just the beginning before BTC falls even further to some more bad news.
It has already been pointed out North Korea is using bitcoin to generate USD.
As a national security measure, it is in US's interest to declare bitcoin illegal and fight against its price to make sure countries like North Korea will not exploit international loophole like bitcoin.
This is just the beginning, bitcoin has a lot more to fall after this.
For those of you who think I'm spreading FUD, welcome to HODL. Thanks for your contribution because I am still mining and need peolpe like you to support the market for me to sell my mining for profit.
Mark my words.

The US will probably continue to meddle in ICOs and try to establish cyrpto-laws to slow down money laundering and drug dealing, but they usually don't take such a heavy handed approach to shut down everything. I suspect the first move they'll make is to make ICOs an "accredited investor only" playing field, then start requiring people to report their Fiat Exchanges (Coinbase, etc.) on their taxes every year, then maybe some SEC rules to monitor and punish crypto "bad actors". I don't expect any more than that from the US, though. I think regulation will slow down investment growth, though.

Tough time ahead of us. China has banned ICO and now exchanges. USA is not planning to ban bitcoin entirely but it may happen that a person will have report its holdings to the government to use the bitcoin. JPM CEO mentioned bitcoin as a scam. All these news are affecting bitcoin and also the entire crypto currency market in a big way. The result is the falling prices worldwide.
Two days back the market cap of bitcoin was 65 billion USD and not it is 54 billion. 11 billion USD just wiped out from the market. However, this also gives us the opportunity to buy bitcoin at a lower price. People like me, who believed in bitcoin, should make the full use of this opportunity as it may come back again. Think and stay positive!

because criminal use of the dollar has destroyed the american currency, after all... ^^
The US for all intents and purposes already has a ban on ICOs, and already regulates to an extent its exchanges. Sure, there may be more regulations coming at some point... but this hardly means destruction. Regulation was a known thing from day 0, its not a great danger.

There is too much FUD right now around the forum, and i will still hold my bitcoins no matter what. And also, i am taking profit from this opportunity, since i am buying all those cheap altcoins that i know they will make a big pump after bitcoin recovers. Dont be fool people, you all know that bitcoin always drops, and then it goes up again.

Funny that I also think the same, that there is a possibility of China trader is actually using this momentum (and probably augmenting it by scripting some dump scenario) to reap some profit from panicked holders bthat clean their balance out.

What can the USA do exactly? China can do those sort of things because of their form of government contract, but what can the USA do while remaining within the boundaries of the U.S. Constitution? <---that's the question! Can they take our internet? Stop those crooks at Coinbase? ---> whatever they try to do will only incite the cypherpunks to undo the damage the government might cause---> right? What can the government do, really?

you list north korea in your list.are you kidding me? are you a troll or what? hello wake up! north korea adopting BTC will END bitcoin, not promote bitcoin! This doesn't have anything to do with "promoting" or any type of "marketing" thing... Bitcoin doesn't need any of that, and what is being discussed is all relating geopolitical and legal action countries are taking against Bitcoin. The fact that someone or some nation is using your decentralized currency makes you scared or think that the currency is therefore worthless, doesn't indicate the coin is that decentralized to begin with.

Cryptos are helping Chinese people launder money to the West.
If it's bad for China, the U.S. will probably want more of it.
Besides, Western governments have been helping Chinese people launder money to the West for decades (into real estate).

Can you please confirm the source of your news? I feel there are some people somewhere who really wants to benefit from the huge price reduction of bitcoin and they are still trying very hard to make that happen.

Look - if the international community would want to put a stop to NK they would use some real sanctions Like cutting off the oil supply But the UN decided against that....guess why...NK is a distraction, the bad guy all governments need to distract from their real problems. ISIS is waning, NK is on the rise. and yes, maybe that will be used against BTC but BTC is really hard to kill

I agree regulations by the government were to be introduced at some point of time or the other and as long as they are to ensure that bitcoin can't easily be used by terrorists and criminals or for other illegal activities I don't think they are bad nor should anyone of us be opposed to that. But if they are in any way aimed at hampering the growth of bitcoin or cryptocurrencies then that's not going to be fair nor is it going to be successful move in any way by the governments.

I don't think this will last forever. Nobody wants to ban a new technology. It's just everybody even countries wants to make more profit selling the panic.
