In my opinion , altcoins are important also for those who seeks bitcoin . The price of a coin is unpredictable, it means it varies everytime . Bitcoin is the in demand coin now so if the bitcoin rises , so does the exchange value of the altcoin.  If these depressed you a lot then dont think about it , just go with the flow.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

There are many altcoins which got higher volumes then bitcoins. Bitcoin has the advantage that mostly you can exchange altcoins with bitcoins and viceversa. If you go through the market rates of altcoins then you would prefer trading in altcoins because they can even help you to buy bitcoins giving you huge profits. So altcoins existance cant be denied.

Agree, it is dominated by Bitcoin, but actually it also depends on company itself, which sits behind the altcoin. During the dump itself I had identified an interesting pattern. Obvoiusly POS coin stayed a bit more stable than other altcoins. Probably because most are staking and do not move back and forwards their funds.
It doesn't depend on "the company".

There are some good ones, like doge & dash, and I realize a lot of people would disagree.  If you're using crypto as a currency, though, wouldn't you rather have the quick confirmation time and low fees of a coin like doge? It makes sense. But bitcoin has the brand name and the loyal following that other coins don't.  Maybe if crypto gets mainstream, people will start using something besides bitcoin.

Finally somebody that recognizes the truth. Of course the fact is that without these other coins then people wouldn't have as much use Bitcoin as an intermediary Source between one and the other. Most people use Bitcoin as a holding commodity while buying these other coins and that's something that would go down drastically if we took the other coins away.

error not on altcoin. but at your own option.
some days yesterday was a very bad day. much decrease from crypto.
I also feel the impact.
but regarding the value of the other allcoin I think it will be long enough to rise and stabilize again.

It is true that bitcoin is the only one that really matters. And altcoins exist mainly as a way for people to acquire more bitcoin. And most altcoins are pure scams. If bitcoin fails the whole ecosystem would problably fail.

But even if bitcoin is the king, there is a lot of use cases for other coins. Monero or other anonymous coins will definatly be a big deal. The problem with alt coins is that there are to many scams.

You are right. General trends exist, but look at it from the other side. If bitcoin would be a bubble or will split for a few more parts then its credibility will go to zero. The existence of altcoins can help you to save your money and will not allow bitcoin to dictate prices in the market. Competition is always good. The main thing is not to miscalculate with a choice.

Bitcoin is obviously the dominant crypto. Why? Because it was the first and being first means most infrastructure gravitate to it. That's why it commands the most volume and exchanges pegged other coins to it. But it doesnt mean it will be forever. Only love is.  Grin

Some coins are worth holding and some coins don’t have what it takes to get any higher within 9 months or so then the coin gets a very large pump that allows anyone to sell it if that person spent some coins then that person would keep some for later.
DeepOnion is the only one that I know of that’s popular and the people that want that coin to survive with the other Altcoins have more tries to get their projects to a higher point in the careers.
Their campaign is well worth joining, I want to join that once it settles down some.

Guys, I own 6 different alcoins and during the dip i followed them all go down as the bitcoin was losing in value.  Then yesterday when things started stabilising they were all without any exception all rising in value as the bitcoin raised too. So if bitcoin is driving all prices up and down, what's the point of playing with altcoins if no matter what techonology they use and what team stands behind them they ll just follow the bitcoin lead? I am not sure about you but this last situation depressed me a lot, and I would love to read your opinion.

Bitcoin only true utility at the moment is the fact, it is the primary way most people purchase or sell Alt coins.
Without the altcoin markets , bitcoin has already lost the micro payments utility and it's fees are so high it lost utility as a money transmission.
And the BTC so called stored of value utility, is proven to be a stupid concept in regards to a virtual currency.

Altcoins main trading pair is all BTC really has left.
Now that is the funny joke.  Cheesy

Altcoins are really unpredictable investment but some time i got good profit but most of the time i lost money so i think it's better to invest in bitcoin and keep in your wallet it will give you good profit finally

Thanks

So if bitcoin is driving all prices up and down, what's the point of playing with altcoins if no matter what techonology they use and what team stands behind them they ll just follow the bitcoin lead?

For one thing, altcoins can have a significant effect on Bitcoin's development path, and therefore its price. If not for Vertcoin and Litecoin activating Segwit -- showing that it was safe in the context of real money (not just testnet) -- I think Segwit may never have been activated on Bitcoin. And I think market certainty around Segwit is why we saw such a beautiful rally to $5,000. Now we can thank China for putting a cap on that. Tongue

The other thing is that altcoins can see much higher gains than BTC. Sometimes they correlate to BTC (usually), sometimes they don't, but the prospective gains and losses are often similar to using high margin for BTC/fiat trading. Altcoins have more volatility, which can mean massive gains. Good for small fish who want to go YOLO long and risk it all rather than buying and holding a few bitcents with their meager investment capital.

We need more backbone,
Cryptoland ll be better using more pairing coin.

I choose Altcoin for its tech specs, not really care its price,
XSPEC a bit resistance to price, Dash is about similar. In general FUD leads the price.

learn to analyze Altcoin. you cant depend only on BTC. because
its still risky.  sometimes it is good to Put some coin in 1$ below price Altcoin because
it doesn't affect the price much when it go down

Not really an Altcoin, but you could have purchased Ripple which usuallly does not follow the BTC trend directly. Certainly affected, but the impact is lower

i think every altcoin is helping us to increase our bitcoin because altcoin price is always goes up to following with bitcoin price. but there is any altcoin which is increase no matter bitcoin is down. I think without altcoin, bitcoin can not move up and reach the high price. sometime when our pair in bitcoin-fiat is down, we can still make profit from bitcoin-altcoin especially if we can buy the right altcoins that will lead us to make profit.
