Not that this thread is maintained in anyway
Seeing as Cavirtex hasn't logged in for months but since the weekend is over any rough ideas on when withdraws and bank transfers will be re-enabled
Think money transfer still works but is delayed no eta to my knowledge on re-enabling Bitcoin withdrawals

Sorry to hear that you shut down your website. My Canadian friends was using it since its opening. Now they have to switch other untrusted exchanges.

? Why is virtex trusted? they scammed people on here, never paid investors, never updated or maintained their site.

Quadriga has been solid.

The new cointrader is giving away everything free to pull people in, unsure if that's good or poor business attempts to make zero profit.

I just had a positive experience buying BTC with cointrader.net it took 7 days total to connect my bank account to their site using the Vogogo deposit method and transfer funds in.

So now I'm now fully verified, I bought some BTC today, trades & withdraws were instant it cost me 1% to transfer funds from Vogogo to cointrader.net & trades were at zero fee.

Kinda easy to tell if it's a fishing attempt.

Cavirtex doesn't ever send emails, even to annouce they're shutting down.

After emailing greg@cavirtex.com - after seeing that tweet I posted above - I was able to withdraw all my BTC and LTC after a few hours.
My withdrawal of CAD took only the usual 5 business days.

Yes, one needs to follow them on twitter to know what is going on... the last couple of tweets they are asking for patience and saying they are processing withdrawals as fast as they can, so I guess not everyone is as lucky as I am.

I was with me them from the start so maybe I was a preferred customer...   Wink
( but it didn't keep me from getting screwed over like all the other stockholders...  Angry   )

Well maybe they should... I have many friends who had small amounts of btc on cavirtex and if I didn't tell them that cavirtex was shutting down they'd never know and lose their btc.

I dont know why these guys think that throwing out a tweet or two is good enough. Its NOT!

I was pondering holding the cash certificate back when it was still on havelock decided against it myself
Technically it has a face value set at 30 fiat dollars per share but with the shutdown etc.
Pretty much not even worth the paper its printed on

As for e-mails I am a bit surprised they didn't send out a general e-mail though in regards to the shutdown myself
Remembers the update e-mails once in a while they sent so it is a bit strange

The way CAVirtex originally communicated the shutdown is unforgivable - an email should have been sent out with a clear plan of how operation will wind down and how folks will access their funds.    The original twitter notice was quite vague and open ended, and I wouldn't be surprised if some account holders don't even know yet.

On the plus side .. CAVirtex has kept their promise and re-activated BTC withdrawals.  I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call from CAVirtex who verified my information before re-activating BTC withdrawal.

Overall - I was impressed with CAVirtex during it's lifetime, but extremely disappointed in it's communication strategy regarding the shutdown.

------------------------
ADDENDUM: CAVirtex has since sent out an email regarding the shutdown to all it's clients.  It's 10 days late, but at least they're finally doing the right thing.

I just opened an account at QuadrigaCX.   Seems a decent set up, better UI than Cavirtex,  not that that takes much. Hopefully they grow quickly and show some volume.  Great no-fee funding options, lower trade fees.

I too got my account set... but there is no volume there... This is a big problem. I mean.. Look at how thin those order books are!
We gotta get more volume there if we want to move more then 10-30 btc at a time.

CAvirtex's volume is not that much better than QCX.  Their hold policy is ridiculous, and the fee for trading and funding was outrageous for the majority of its life.  They are just as bad as the banks!  Don't miss it at all!

Maybe their volume since they announced the shutdown... but before they had more volume then quad for sure. And still, I have yet to see large buys or sells on quad and tbh, I'm not sure how I feel about sending over large amounts of btc just yet. Quad was small time before.... now with the rush of new clients the banks are gonna see more money in and out and start asking more questions..

anyway, we'll just see how this plays out.
