Of course you need to read the whitepaper, it's easy to judge an ICO's potential bases on that. It's also easy to spot whitepapers that are just a rephrased copy of others, it's a good way to know it the project is a scam.

Because there is several ICOs which already explaining their plan in the first/top page with detail enough. So no need to read whitepaper more, mostly investor are following the other investors.

For investment >0.5BTC, yes, I do check the website, white paper, team, a bit of history, etc.
For investment <0.5BTC, usually it's only short term speculative investment, I only rely on technical analysis.

I do. If you don't read white paper , it's a bit like playing to the russian roulette.
You will avoid loosing time on scam and you will understand better how every thing works, so I strongly recommand to read it!

Is this still a question, competent investors will always trying to know what they were going to put their investment on. the existence of whitepaper is merely for this, to know about the project furthermore.
only stupid people who gamble with their money by not reading the whitepaper. It's critical thing to do, specially for me.

I see a lot of people that do not bother to read the paper,
I try to do max due deligence before buying any coin.

What about you?

The consensus is to read the white-paper for max due diligence,,, usually only takes up to 30 minutes.

Yes of course,I do read up their white paper together with their developers transparency on a certain ICO project because this is my basis before I do put my money.I do value my money and even though there are lots of scam ico as of now but its better to risk something if you do really like to earn something. This is why reading their white paper is always advisable if you can see that there is a potential then its the time we do make an investment.

Yeah, I definitely do. But I noticed that the most of them just basically copy paste their content from similar projects.

I most definitely do. This is why I haven't bought any ICOs since March. Almost all the whitepapers have some items that make me lose confidence. I'm not talking about language or grammar or spelling either. People whose names and experience are different from LinkedIn. Extremely vague wording, with "decentralisation" and "blockchain" thrown in everywhere.

I have only seen ONE whitepaper I really liked recently, and it wasn't even advertised here.

Who ever want to invest in coin for profit will surely read the whitepaper but their are so many users who are working for only bounty coins never check the whitepaper. They are just interested in free coins because as soon as it gets listed they just sell off and take profit. But the real users never invest in a coin without reading whitepaper

A usual thing, when a project announcement contains only the concept, goals, some general plan and loud claims. In this view, whitepaper is a must, cause it contains the most important details and explanations of how it really works. You may look through the project and be interested, but when you're ready to invest, don't ignore this app

Ofc i do read them. I read everything about an ICO before investing in it. I check their developers and the team behind it. I analyze them. I don't want to waste my money on a scam for sure.

Not only should you read the white paper, you should also confirm that the team can develop.

Just because they have titles like "CTO", "Developer", etc., it doesn't mean anything if they cannot prove that they have developed before.  They should have software that you can touch, feel and smell and confirm that they can build something.

It's surprising how many projects cannot prove this.

Writing thousands of lines of code takes much more skill, work and time than to make a nice looking video.
