Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Try using blockhain. All this time for me blockchain is the best wallet from the past until now. Blockchain has a very good level of security and trust. Two features in the blockchain wallet that is 2fa and private keys into advantages compared to other wallet. Oh yes blockchain also has applications in android and also an integrated webbase system. This is an excellent plus value of blockchain.

electrum is pretty fast, has many features (encrypted on-disk PKs, recoverable using passphrases, watch only wallet for cold storage, ...) and doesn't require to download the entire blockchain.

You should consider using Coinbase. It is one of the most trusted BTC wallets. Coinbase protect your assets by 2fa which is really hard to attack. Blockchain is more popular, I agree, but Blockchain cannot store Litecoin as Coinbase that offer rooms for BTC, ETH and LTC. One more thing, I think your question is quite frequently asked. You may find answers faster by searching it in beginner section.

NO NO NO !!!!
I am sorry but this is a terrible suggestion!
blockchain is a site based in luxembourg, where you DON'T have the property of the private key! And even if you have you can't be the only one.
Even if some one could attack their site, or your browser or your personal computer you are going to expose all your funds in just one shot!

use a wallet where YOU and ONLY YOU are the owner of the private key! Also Electrum, Multibit HD, Bitcoincore (if you have enough space and want a FULL wallet), but NEVER trust a third parties to store / save your private keys / btc funds!
This is the FIRST btc rules, because we are all talking about economic "freedom", that ends if you use a third parties to store your funds!
You are not free anymore if you use another service!

You can search on the google for the rating of the apps and you can search for the reviews about the application. But if i'm gonna recommend you a wallet i would recommend the blockchain and the coinbase since these two are the most trusted and most used by many users.

But if you're not satisfied you can just store your bitcoin into a hard wallet (it's just like a usb device) but it's expensive but if you don't have buget to buy hard wallet you can try the paper wallet, it's like a hard wallet but in paper wallet your private key is written on a paper.

I would say blockchain if you are new with Bitcoin/Crypto-currency and looking to make a wallet to start off with, never faced any issues with blockchain wallet just enable the security features and you won't face any problems, I made my first BTC wallet on blockchain still using it without any issues also supports ETH now.

Is there a fastest way to know and select which wallet app. Is the best to use for us begginers.

The fastest way is to chose a wallet from official bitcoin website, there is a list of all reputable wallets for all platforms: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet
There is a full description near every wallet, just chose the most simple and safest one.

I don't know on what country where you from or it is available to your place but i will answer you question directly from my experience and what is mostly used here in my country. Coins.ph, I doubt I can compare it to those mentioned already because I have bad experienced to those wallet especially to they're transaction fees. It is much comfortable to use, low fee and many options inside its application. Customer service is phenomenal and I don't think it can replace by other international wallets available on internet today.

Ever since that I entered the crypto world, I have been using BLOCKCHAIN's wallet. I installed the application on my phone and I love it. I also have a coins.ph wallet for converting my bitcoins to my local currency.

Things such as best bitcoin wallet isn't exist since each wallet have different usage, advantage and disadvantage.
Bitcoin Core is perfect for those who want high security, don't trust SPV nodes, want run full nodes or simply have fast computer/internet.
Electrum is perfect for those who want good security, trust SPV nodes or want lightweight wallet.
Mycelium is perfect for those who often at outside, use smartphone everyday or spend bitcoin at physical merchant.

Just choose which one is suited for your condition Smiley

If you are new try using Blockchain.info. You can store your BTC and ETH there.BTC wallet address keeps changing for security purpose. It is a popular web wallet. No other web wallet is as secure as Blockchain. Coinbase is the second choice of a web wallet. But keep in mind that it has full control over the third part and moreover, it is an exchange. Don't put your BTC in bulk in any exchange.

BEST WEB WALLET : Blockchain.info,

BEST DESKTOP WALLET (Windows & MAC & LINUX) : Electrum, Bitcoin Core, Bitcoin knots.

BEST HARDWARE WALLET : Trezor, Ledger Nano S.

BEST ANDROID MOBILE WALLET : Bread Wallet, Bitcoin Wallet, Electrum, Mycellium.

BEST IOS MOBILE WALLET : Bread Wallet.

BEST WINDOWS MOBILE WALLET : Coin. Space

BEST BLACKBERRY MOBILE WALLET : Bitcoin Wallet

Currently, I am using Blockchain.info, Electrum, Bread Wallet, Bitcoin Wallet, and Mycellium. Finally, I suggest you not to put all your eggs in one basket.Nothing is guaranteed in this inconsistent world.

I've used Coinbase before, so far never had a problem. Still, it might not be safe. The only wallet I installed on my laptop is Electrum and so far so good. I'm not a very tech-savvy person, I probably don't need to download the blockchain. I just want my coins safe and Electrum seem to have enough recovery options.

Generally any wallet that uses 2Fa is secure, but i prefer a desktop wallet and i use exodus, because it gives me control, flexibility of an exchange, multi-currency support and convenience.

By my view if you are a android user you should use mycelium or blockchain and if you are a windows phone user u should use bitpay. Bitpay is safe and smart wallet, i also use it and trading, transactions become more easier in bitpay.

I'm a huge fan of Mycelium for a mobile wallet.

For longterm storage you should choose a cold-storage option and not trust any online services.

Ummmm what??!? Huh You realise that Bitcoin.org is the home of Bitcoin Core... which is like... they complete opposite of Bitcoin Cash in terms of crypto currency ideology!!?!

Hell will probably freeze over and you'll be able to solo mine Bitcoin blocks on your CPU in a profitable way before Bitcoin.org has ANYTHING to do with Bitcoin Cash! Tongue

No, please no. The whole point of a safe wallet is that you own the private keys. With blockchain, they do - not you. Its a false sense of security. Use any desktop wallet or cold storing bitcoin in a Ledger or Trezor wallet (2 of the biggest cold- wallet brands today.)

Before blockchain.info they are giving those paraphrase but right now they aren't giving so it's obvious that they are storing your private keys.

It's blockchain.info guys, for a person that is just starting to get into bitcoin I won't advice him to buy ledge or trezor wallet. It's good for him to use electrum and greenaddress.

These wallets are good for a newbie and there are some other wallet app where he can use it with his mobile which is a user friendly wallet app like greenaddressm, mycelium and breadwallet.

IS electrum one of the best wallet to consider?

Yes it's one of the best wallet to consider, you don't have to download the whole blockchain network because there are some wallets that are requiring that.

And this is one of the most preferred wallet of all time and it has been used by many users and I guess we are hundred thousands of users of electrum.

You'll never regret the use of electrum and you can even use it as your cold storage with the help of your laptop by just simply forgetting your coins out there.

I agree with HCP electrum is a lightweight desktop wallet and it's one of the most preferred desktop wallet of all time. I like it's simplicity and uniqueness because you don't have to do a lot of things as you can see the balance and it's transaction history. And it also gives you the private keys / seed of your wallet which makes it more reliable and safe for us who are keeping our bitcoins because it's not recommended to store your bitcoins at a web wallet.

You may want to try Melis Wallet, https://melis.io/ it has been released recently, but it's full featured and maybe you will enjoy all the security options (multi signature, TFA, server protection). Sources are on GitHub https://github.com/melis-wallet/melis-cm-client

The best bitcoin wallet are the bitcoin core, KeepKey hardware wallet, electrum wallet and trezor wallet. These are the wallet I can recommend as a better way keeping bitcoin safe. Mind you, you also need to be extra caution either when you're online.

I Am Agreed With You All.
Electrum is the safest of all online wallets , its a local desktop wallet which relies on internet connection. As long as you have the seed and you have quite a lot of bitcoins, you can go to anywhere for vacation and open it from there with the seed Smiley . Definitely the best of all online wallets and desktop ones.

I would not recommend to store any coins on an online wallet.
Offline wallets do have a lot of advantages.
With an offline wallet you (and only you!) are in control of your private keys (and therefore of your money).

Depending on wheter you want to run a full node (needs full blockchain, 100+ GB) or just a small piece of software to access your priv keys and check balance via online services (light weight wallet).
In case of a full node you can go with Bitcoin Core (+ Armory) or if you want a light weight wallet you can go for electrum.

Paper wallets are also a good form of storing coins long term. So are HW wallets.. those add usability into.
But i would definetly keep away from online wallets!

I think it is also depend on which country you are in. Here in our country coins.ph is most usable wallet since this wallet provides us to easily encash it here in our country. Some other says that paper wallet is also good. I don't still try that but I just also want to know how to use it maybe this week I will search for it.

I use Bitcoin core wallet with prune mode enabled, so I don't have to keep the entire blockchain on my hard disk!

I personally recommend it as it's the best way to have a FULL wallet without having to waste a lot of space.

My entire Bitcoin directory is around 2.5 Gb.

For me here in the Philippines Coins.ph is the best bitcoin wallet in our countries because there are lot of features and advantages when you use coins.ph for example you want to load your smartphone you can use coins.ph as the reloading of your phones load and will get a 10% free for the total amount of your load. Also payments through coins.ph is fast and reliable.

Blockchain is essentially a public ledger of cryptocurrency transactions (e.g. Bitcoin) shared globally and driven by a consensus mechanism that ensures transparency, trust and accuracy for all transactions conducted.
There’s no need for banks, government institutions or other centralized intermediaries because the blockchain is verified by all parties so that the value, use and transactions can only be executed via unanimous agreement. Blockchain acts like a complete banking transaction history that is organized chronologically. Each block is like an individual bank statement with the entire database of transactions being shared by all parties (or nodes) in a system.
Just as the Internet became the first native digital platform for the transmission and dissemination of information, blockchain is the first native digital platform for value. And that means significant implications for businesses and consumers alike.

for me , best bitcoin wallet would be  a  hardware wallet.  Hardware wallets are secure, offline devices. They store your private keys offline so they can't be hacked.

but if you are not fond if this, you can have a desktop wallet.  example would be , Electrum , it is a light weight Bitcoin wallet  you cacn use for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Electrum was created in November 2011. The main features of Electrum are: support for hardware wallets (such as TREZOR, Ledger Nano and KeepKey), and secure Bitcoin storage using an offline computer. this  is a good option for both beginners and advanced users.

I`ve been using spectrocoin and I love it.

Can you please share me the link to this app?

Up to now, I'm using FreeBitcoin wallet app, because this app gives you 50% when you refer someone. But I'm not satisfied with this app.

And while searching the web I found some best bitcoin wallet apps list. You can check out this list and refer someone also.

There's a lot of bitcoin wallet in the app. Store but how can we trace if the app.that we are using is not a scum. Is there a fastest way to know and select which wallet app. Is the best to use for us begginers.

Hardware or desktop wallet is the best wallet. You can go with Electrum which is very fast, easy to use and high security. It is very easy to use you just have to remember the seed key and where ever and when ever you want you can install the Electrum software and install your old seed key and your old wallet is ready. Online wallet are risky as you dont have control over that wallet private key so if any time if the online web wallet shutdown or anything bad happens you will be in loss. Some web wallet dont allow the user to use online wallet for any illegal activity or gambling. They can ban or block your account any time.

In my opinion the best way to chose a wallet is visiting the official web page of the coin and chose one of the suggested Android Apps.
There are many fraud wallets around and you have to be carefull.
Mane have lost their money.
You'll find out many stories in this forum.

There are conceptually two broad categories of the wallets you are looking for.

1. Online wallets: In these wallets it needs you to connect to the internet and then save your stakes. However, you need to essentially keep your “private keys” secure to safeguard your hard earned BTC. A few to recommend would be Exodus, Electrum, Coinomi, Jaxx etc.

2. Offline wallets: On the other hand, in offline wallets, they are not just hardware wallets. Practically any wallet that never needs to connects to the internet to interact falls under this category. However, technically the moment you connect to the internet they no longer remain “Offline”. Here you just need to download the link and install it. A few to recommend would be Bitcoin Core, Bitcoin paper wallet, Ledger, Nano S, Trezor, Electrum, etc.

Now it is you who has to decide which one to choose. But generally as long as you can keep your private keys secure you could use either one.

In my opinion the best wallets are these referred by the developers of the coin, because are tried by them.
Avoid using on-line wallets. You don't own the private keys so you don't own the coins. If something goes wrong (WEB WALLET HACKED) you are going to lose them.

I would never accept my bitcoin stores online, use a desktop wallet, like Bitcoin Core or Electrum, as already said.
Only keep your BTC online if you are trading.

And it's not that bad to store those coins online when you don't want to suffer with fees. You'll store it with some trusted exchanges but with a very tiny amount. Don't put big amount as they are still vulnerable with attacks but when it comes to keeping it go with desktop wallet or nano ledger s.

You don't have to download the whole entire blockchain with electrum. It's a lite wallet so you don't have to do that.

I'm guessing you are talking about bitcoin core?

Try using blockhain. All this time for me blockchain is the best wallet from the past until now. Blockchain has a very good level of security and trust. Two features in the blockchain wallet that is 2fa and private keys into advantages compared to other wallet. Oh yes blockchain also has applications in android and also an integrated webbase system. This is an excellent plus value of blockchain.

The best bitcoin wallet to me is the Blockchain, which have been use for bitcoin and  is very save up till now. The security for the password must be kept secret and save.

First rule, don't listen to beginners on.

Go to the origin, bitcoin.org, and look at their recommended products.

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

If you can't decide then order a Trezor and/or download Electrum.

Then locate the support group for the wallet(s) you picked, and read it thoroughly, and bookmark it.

The wallet is really only as good/safe as the user.

Yes blockchain is one of the best wallet in crypto currency community, but for me it's better if you can used multiple wallet. Other than that also used offline and online wallet because this is the right thing to secured our crypto currencies.

Because sometimes using one wallet even offline or web wallet are possible to hacked or get by the Intruders if they can't keep it right. Moreover I suggest the following trusted wallet in crypto currency industry:

- blockchain
- coins.ph
- mycelium
- myether wallet
- coinbase
- electroneum and so on.

No need to recite all crypto currency wallet because almost all of them are safe.

According to my research, most people here prefer these three wallets and me myself use these wallets; mycelium, electrum, and blockchain their level of security is the great way to deal from other people gaining accessed on your coins. Also you could try using nitrogen if you like gambling because the transaction in nitrogen is smooth and past pacing.

Nowadays people have started switching from Blockchain and so do I beacuse we all know how tiresome it is to transfer the Btc or if you want to make small payments then either you will have to pay huge amount in fees or will need to wait for days before your transaction gets confirmed . If this problem remains like this only then not longer we will see Blockchain would be avoided by majority of them.

Changing the bitcoin wallet is not going to change niether the transaction time niether the transaction fee, blockchain coinbase and all the other online wallets have these fees preseted so your transaction is ensured to be confirmed, if you want to set fees yourself you can transfer it to where you have control over your privite keys, but if you mess up the fees and set them too low your transaction may take days, weeks or ven months before it gets confirmed, i agree that the fees are high and sometimes redicoulious wehn it comes to micro transactions, and this is all due to the huge traffic that hit the netowrk, but hopefully LN will fix these probelms, and i hope it won't take long.

Nice choice bro, I guess you are used multiple wallet to assured your income were not get by the Intruders or hackers. For me coinbase and myether wallet is the best, because both of this wallet in online. So it easy to see your balance wherever you are together with blockchain it is also online wallet.

Take $50 of bitcoin, move it to a new "app" each month for a year. Learn about them all. Try to move private keys.

Use Bitcoin Core on a computer for a year, in parallel. Have $50 on that.

These are learning processes, not commodities.

Bitcoin is a protocol. What will assist in your learning it?

I would say the following wallets are among the best wallets. Coinbase, Electrum and blockchain. I am currently using Coinbase wallet. When Segwit address is needed, I provide Segwit address from Electrum wallet. I have used blockchain wallet. But stopped using it as I found the other two the best ones. Obviously the transaction fees are low in Electrum wallet as it has been upgraded with Segwit address.

You're both right concerning the wallet you mention and I want you to know that almost all wallet are safe if error avoid when using it. Mind you, coinbase is anexchange and it not advisble to safe coin on an exchange. Speaking of coinbase I still some btc stuck there due to 2FA problem.

Bitcoin needs a specific wallet to store them in order to spend them or exchange for currency. Wallets you will find ranges as per features, the platform used and security. So check what works for you and then register. When you find a suitable wallet, download it to the platform of your choice. It is good for the beginner to download simple wallet for free, but there are fees involved in currency exchanges.

Some third-party options include – Coinbase (a popular American bitcoin wallet that gives a certain amount of insurance for the bitcoin you store), Mycelium (popular mobile bitcoin wallet) and Electrum (primarily for the desktop users).

After you register to any wallet, you need to add your details and verify the email address that you connect to the wallet. To secure your account, connect the mobile number with 2-factor authentication and verify your identity to get started.

Blockchain.info you mean? That is NOT the best wallet. But if you really want to use a webwallet then use Greenaddress.it. It's better and it supports Segwit by default.

Plus it does not have an angel investor called "Roger" in it.

Electrum is another good wallet where transaction fees are very lower as Segwit address is upgraded. The fees can be adjusted choosing blocks. The maximum transaction fees do hit only 1.3 dollars. Another best wallet for adapting all new coins is MyEtherWallet.com. Its so secured with phrase words. Though its bit hard to keep the words safe, its being the best secured. We have other good wallets like, blockchain.info and greenwallet.

I find Electrum is one of the best wallets. I have used Coinbase, Electrum, blockchain info and Greenwallet. Though these wallets are best, I would choose Electurm mainly for Segwit. The transaction fees are less and we can amend the blocks to reduce the rates. Coinbase is upgrading to Segwit. Its at Beta. Will soon go to live.

Coinbase is the best wallet the transaction fees are normal and it covers four coins. Electroneum, Blockchain, and myEther wallet are also good to use.

So many good wallets available in the app store. Coinbase wallet is one of the best wallet to use. It is safe and secure. Electrum is another best wallet for Segwit. I mainly use it for low transaction fees. Opened at the time of high trasaction fees in December 2017. Heard news that Coinbase is upgrading itself to Segwit. Beta is over.I am sure in few days, we would have Coinbase Segwit.

General advice would be to avoid web wallets. They are the least secure .
Like many others I could recommend Electrum as one of the best and also compliant with Segwit which could be very important for the future. Another important thing to pay attention is the possibility of full control of private keys and also adjustment of fees.
But if you want the best security use some of hard wallets like Ledger Nano.

Blockchain and MEW for ERC 20 tokens are the bets if you need to store some btc or coins. If you are a long term investor than ideally it should be stored offline so that their is not much danger unless the code gets into the hand of the unwanted user. If you are a trader than smaller qty can be kept under exchanges for your trading purpose.

I would prefer Coinbase wallet. This is the wallet with safe and secure. The transaction fees is very low and transaction speed is high. It accepts four coins such as bitcoin  cash, bitcoin, litecoin and Ethererum. The wallet is user friendly to use. Another wallet such as Electrum are also good. Transaction fees is very high when compared to Coinbase wallet.

I agreed to what you said about electrum wallet but I don't agree to the use of coinbase as wallet because coinbase is an exchange not wallet provider. However, I still have some coin stuck on coinbase due to one time 2 step verification which was not send to my phone and unable to fix it. I believe trezor wallet is best wallet.

Electrum wallet is the best wallet. Because it enabled segwit address, and is mainly used for low transaction fees. The wallet is very safe and secure and it is also user friendly. Coinbase, myetherwallet, greenwallet are also good wallets to use. All coins can be adopted by electrum wallet. It based on full support of private keys.

Blockchain wallet is the best wallet.
I'm using also blockchain and I don't have any issues with them.

But I'm not going to call them the best since I haven't used most of the wallets that are existing.

I have tried very few like electrum and what I don't like with it is that the fees are too high but if it's about security, I can say that it will be the best.

Iam using Electrum wallet, Electrum wallet is the best wallet due to its 2fa authentication factor. It is based in private keys. It is based on private keys and it is mainly used for segwit. The transaction fees is very low when compared to other wallets. Now many projects are coming based on these wallets. Other wallets such as coinbase, Blockchain, mycelium are also good wallets to use.

Hey people,

I am doing a research about Bitcoin web wallets and I would be grateful if you could give me some feedbacks from your own experience.

In your opinion which wallet is most reliable for the US citizen and which one is easiest to use (easiest accessibility)? What about the rest of world? What are the limits for example Credit/Debit Card transfer to Bitcoin wallet? How much is the fee? Does the certain provider ask for account verification? Which of the wallets have included alt cryptocurrencies? Which one has the best mobile responsiveness?

You don't have to answer all of my questions. Smiley

Thank you for your responses.

Cheers!

You're completely crazy. It's absurd to say something like that. There are several wallets of great quality and reliable. Both mobile and desktop.

Blockchain.info is just a website, a company that offers one among many thousands more in this ecosystem. I particularly prefer Electrum and I do not like using any mobile options.

Hey Kelaychi & vit05,

Thank you for your replies!

The Blockchain wallet has gained its popularity probably because of the whole Blockchain network and everything else involved in it. Now I am not all into this, but that's mu observation. Honestly, I haven't tried it yet, but I will for sure.

As for the Electrum, I heard only good things from people using it. But it has only download version right?

Anyway, I am used to Coinbase. It pretty simple to use, responsive and fast.

Feel free to write anything you get on your mind regarding the topic.

Thanks again.

Cheers!

Please note that "The Blockchain wallet" (aka blockchain.info) is NOT the whole "Blockchain network"... all they did was manage to register a (somewhat misleading) domain name Tongue

In other words: blockchain.info DOES NOT equal "The Blockchain"™

They're simply a website that has Bitcoin and blockchain related information and services... but they are not an "official" website or anything like that. A lot of people seem to think they're responsible for Bitcoin or something Undecided

I am using Electrum for a long time. It is very safe and secure. I mainly use it for Segwit. When transaction fees were so high, Segwit wallets really brought  down the trasaction fees. We have other wallets like  Coinbase,  Electrum, MEW,  Greenwallet and Blockchain.info.  A must thing you have to do is to activate all the secured options available especially activate 2FA authendication.

Coinbase wallet is the best wallet and iam using it for long time. This wallet is very safe and secure wallets to store our coins. And the main reason to use this wallet is the transaction fees is very low when compared to other wallets. At the same time the transaction speed is also high. It supports four coins such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Bitcoincash and Litecoin. Other wallrts such as Greenwallet, Mycelium, Electrum and Blockchain are also good to use.

Yeah... Coinbase's fees are "very low" when compared to other wallets Roll Eyes

I've just confirmed firsthand: the entity overpaying fees by 100X is @coinbase. You're hemorrhaging money, folks.
COINBASE - For The Love Of God - Please Stop Overpaying For BTC Transactions

BTW, Coinbase isn't a wallet. It's an EXCHANGE. Let's try to do some research before writing such nonsense?

The best window wallet is bitcoin core or electrum. Try to avoid web wallet because they are not secure enough and scammers can attack it. For mobile or other devices, you can check the other best wallets. Try to read some detail on articles or watch some videos.

I also usee Blockchain.info wallet. It's proven secure, even when paying for Modafinil. Many have claimed that their bitcoin went missing after purchasing Modafinil online and this time I use only a secure wallet and trusted sources.

Then show us that proof. Your wallet has nothing to do with with the merchant who can scam you because of Bitcoin's irreversible transactions. Blockchain.info is a web wallet which doesn't allow you to store your private key which means that they are responsible for the security of your bitcoins. Don't be surprised when they will force you to pass through KYC verification before you will be able to spend your money.

Blockchain.info is a web wallet which doesn't allow you to store your private key which means that they are responsible for the security of your bitcoins. Don't be surprised when they will force you to pass through KYC verification before you will be able to spend your money.

According to blockchain.info the master seed (which is used to generate all of your private keys) is created and encrypted locally (inside the browser). [1]
This (encrypted) file is then being uploaded to their servers, which makes it possible for you to access it from anywhere by visiting their website, entering your ID, downloading the file and decrypting it locally on your browser.

Additionally they offer the possiblity to export the seed, which gives you full control over the private keys.

This does not mean that it is as secure as a desktop or mobile wallet. A web wallet does have way more attack vectors than a desktop-/mobile- wallet.
But it still does equal a traditional wallet more than other services (e.g. coinbase) do.

Thanks bob for the clarification, I will try to export the seed. I would still not recommend using Blockchain.info as a main wallet. Web wallets are really convenient, especially for newbies but they are not perfect. Apart from security issues, there are some other problems such as usually high transaction fees for withdrawals and lack of useful features available on software wallets (coin control, RBF).
