Look at the chart for ECA and set it to 1 day:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/electra/#charts

The price has stayed fairly consistent, but just within the last hour the market cap which was previously around 4 million briefly dropped to zero and then shot up to 109 million.

So this would mean that, the circulating supply of ECA that coinmarketcap can detect instantly jumped from around 900 million to around 22 billion. Where is it seeing all that ECA?

I really hope you mean that somehow CMC is 'seeing' the coins at Coinsmarkets and that this is the sign we were hoping for?

I don't think so.

https://twitter.com/ElectracoinECA/status/954087933912416261

ECA said that "Coin Market Cap has updated Electra ECA to reflect accurate statistics"....... whatever that's supposed to mean.

I see those guys from CoinsMarkets.com absolutely do not hurry...

It appears that their technician/engineers (whatever they call it) are somehow "incompetent" in their job and thus provide a very slow progress in solving their problems. They are offline for almost 3 weeks now and the coins that have been stuck there should be making a lot more if they just fixed it in a short period of time. I wouldn't be surprised if they indeed turned into scamsite now. This is the main reason why I am skeptical to pools/exchanges that promote for your coins to be locked in their own website. You don't have the control over your coins and once these issues arise, you are really f*cked up.

This is what i do observed on some coins which it is only tradeable on such fixed exchanges which once you have deposited there no other way out if issue do happen same as you said we are all fucked up. Since from the start on seeing the site im really hesitant on depositing coins but i dont have any choice but to sell out since coins being just traded on here but luckily did able to make some withdrawals until these issues rise up from now.

Something doesn't seem right.

https://coinmarketcap.com/faq/

Quote
What is the difference between "Circulating Supply", "Total Supply", and "Max Supply"?

Circulating Supply is the best approximation of the number of coins that are circulating in the market and in the general public's hands.
Total Supply is the total amount of coins in existence right now (minus any coins that have been verifiably burned).
Max Supply is the best approximation of the maximum amount of coins that will ever exist in the lifetime of the cryptocurrency.

Why is the Circulating Supply used in determining the market capitalization instead of Total Supply?

We've found that Circulating Supply is a much better metric for determining the market capitalization. Coins that are locked, reserved, or not able to be sold on the public market are coins that can't affect the price and thus should not be allowed to affect the market capitalization as well. The method of using the Circulating Supply is analogous to the method of using public float for determining the market capitalization of companies in traditional investing.

Look at the chart for the last month -> https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/electra/#charts

Why did the ECA circulating supply drop from 22 billion to around 900 million (around January 7th) and then shoot back up to 22 billion earlier today?

If this Coin Market Cap data is being determined based on what active exchanges are reporting, then this shouldn't be happening because coinsmarkets is not back online and there is no indication of it coming back.

If the data is manually "corrected" then this doesn't seem right:

In Coin Market Cap's own words:

We've found that Circulating Supply is a much better metric for determining the market capitalization. Coins that are locked, reserved, or not able to be sold on the public market are coins that can't affect the price and thus should not be allowed to affect the market capitalization as well.

to me that sounds like the ECA locked on coinsmarkets should not be considered as part of the circulating supply.

First time trying to do a transaction on CM after transferring in my btc, the site went off and I couldn't find my btc when it allegedly came back on, am left to believe now that CM is a scam and I already lost my money. They are so unprofessional, no mails or tweets or post from then, that tells us what we do not want to hear already, we lost our money.

CM is under heavy maintenance right now, wtf would you send anything there right now??? its clearly stated on index page: We are checking with different hosting now. Process taking longer than expected with fixing DB , All coins are safe. if you can not read you should stop what you doing until you lost everything

I have an offer for you... mister heavy maintenance.... I will create a website to stake coins... or some of people I know, so it will be unknown person to you.... you will send us some crypto coins... then I will cut you off your coins for 16 days or more and put one liner on website stating "We are under maintenance."...
Also, in addition to that I will not communicate anything to you at all within that period.

When can we make a deal? Let me identify coins I'd like you to transfer to my site Smiley
Does that sound like fair deal?

Or let me rephrase it... what would you do if your bank would cut you off from account access and canceled your cards... then you couldn't reach out to them at all. I guess you would stay calm at home waiting that one day bank will resume operations and allow you access your money hahahaha Cheesy

im at this exact situation with coinbase lol, you don't need to imagine some shit like banks. i can't get access to my funds on coinbase for more than 3 months due their shithead ceo. AND I HAD WAAAY LESS COMMUNICATION with coinbase than CM. o wait, i had some communication with CM, BUT ZERO WITH COINBASE. don't see people calling coinbase s scam. but they situation is way deeper in shit than CM. so i have no idea what are you trying to say with your bank metaphors

they would’ve ridden into the sunset with the coins by now. Fact is the coins haven’t moved and are staking. And this forum is becoming almost as bad as the CM troll box.. Go to telegram @coinsmarketsupdates for FUD-free info if you’re interested.

I hope your joking.  I do not care about Justice.  I just want my coins back.  If you don't care about the coins, just go away.

Yeah great. Thanks for the update.

I have not seen any official word lately. I remember that the 23rd January was a date once, but it may be tomorrow for all we know.

Maybe never. Daily reminder to keep private wallets and not trust exchanges.
