Is it still worth it to mine with CPU?
Mined a few blocks, now not getting anything for a few days.
pedrog I mined 25DTC today, with an i7 laptop. With Datacoin trading on BTCPOP Exchange ( https://btcpop.co/Exchange/DTC) we will see pools and rigs starting to mine. But Datacoin has a dynamic difficulty adjustment algorithm. So when pools come in they will get most of the coins, but once the difficulty has adjusted other miners will again get coins, but at a lower block reward. Difficulty has levelled off at about 8.9, so now you should be solving about two blocks per day. Currently the price on BTCPOP is 250 Satoshis, if you wanted to buy. -extro

Hi Ben, Thanks for asking! DEV, Datacoin have ICO? Do the next best thing, pickup some on BTCPOP before the few available at a low cost are all gone. Best Regards, -Chicago

Sampei7777 sent me the procedure to create a digital asset on the Datacoin blockchain: 1) upload a file as for a normal timestamp. Of course, you can choose a previously timestamped file, as your digital asset
2) now you have a button Take First Ownership. Click it to make an asset from the file
3) input the address that will be the owner of the asset. It can be both a Datacoin or a Bitcoin address. Yes, we can transfer assets between datacoin and bitcoin addresses, too
4) than you have to sign a message with your datacoin/bitcoin client and submit the signature. This proves you own that address
5) now the asset belongs to you. Only you can transfer its ownership by signing a message with the private key corresponding to the DTC/BTC address that owns the asset.
At the top menu of ByteStamp site now there is the Asset link.
Here you can see the latest assets transations.
When you transfer an asset a particular asset transaction is uploaded on Datacoin blockchain, using its transaction data field.
So all assets transfers are undeniable.
From the latest assets transations table you can click the transaction link.
Here you can see the transaction on the Datacoin Block Explorer, and it says you that this transaction contains an asset.
Click to have details and you can see the message stored on the Datacoin blockchain.
At the bottom of the page there is a technical explanation of how it works.
This has huge implications for digital asset trading, digital rights management (DRM) and even things like mental poker. I can imagine a barebones game engine, where the players bring their own tradeable skins, weapons, inventory etc. REMEMBER TO CHECK THE PUBLIC BOX TO SEE YOUR ASSET. OTHERWISE IT WILL BE INVISIBLE. There was also an interesting article in Bitcoin Magazine about artists and the trouble they have protecting their work: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/op-ed-how-blockchain-technology-could-save-struggling-artists-around-world/Good stuff. -extro

And you can do it even if it is not public at all. Sorry if it was not clear

Did not notice this thread about data coin in the earlier days, thanks for mprep admin to split out the tokens to subcategory. Data coin looks interesting, just put my foot print here to follow this thread.

Is it because the nodes have horrible inet atm or the tech is really slowing it down that much? For newcomers like me its really a big minus point on this project:/ Will still stay but just wanna give my 2 sats

Is it because the nodes have horrible inet atm or the tech is really slowing it down that much? For newcomers like me its really a big minus point on this project:/ Will still stay but just wanna give my 2 sats Hello All, Thanks to dtc2017 for providing a linear bootstrap.dat for Datacoin. I am importing it on a fresh node now and will compare the hash of its tip with that on another node to offer a secondary confirmation of it being the honest chain. As far as syncing with the blockchain organically, yes it is very slow on Windows, much faster on macOS and quite fast on Linux, relatively speaking. That being said, Datacoin will only ever take longer to do an initial sync when the promise of 500GiB/year of growth is expressed. To address the various needs of users around the globe, it would make sense for us to publish a DNS address record of regional nodes. For example a ns.hkg.example.org, ns.europe.example.org or even ns.north-america.example.org. Another way to speed up the initial sync organically would be to identify "fast nodes" and then during your initial sync, include a connect=fastnode.example.com into your datacoin.conf. The net effect of such a directive would imply your Datacoin node would only be connecting ever to fastnode.example.com when syncing. After the sync, removing the connect= line would then join you with the rest of the peer network. Best Regards, -Chicago

Also, is there a solo miner for this yet please? Thanks J If you think about GPU miners for dtc.graymines.net pool you have links to miners on pool's start page. In every package you have both linux and windows binary. I tested them all mining DTC myself. Also remember to edit config file :-) I can try to compile miner from link above in Visual Studio when I go back home this evening ;-)
