Since difficulty is low can we CPU mine this much like Primecoin back in the day?

I have 5 servers each with 128 cores that sit idle all day in a test environment. I cant find a CPU miner anywhere.

Any one have one that's pool capable?

Hi drozenski,

Primecoin cpu miner: https://github.com/j0nn9/XPMiner

Maybe I say a big bullshit  Cheesy since you can not install anything, but you can not put the miner on an external drive with, for example, USB and launch it from there?

Thats a Linux only miner Sad

I dont have physical access either. They are over an hour away in a data center. So USB is out of the question. Only time were ever at the data center is for upgrades or if something failed.

Oh well i went back to Monero

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I see that Datacoin is now on NewsBTC:   https://tools.newsbtc.com/currencies/datacoin

I understand NewsBTC ranks 6th of all crypto websites.   https://detailed.com/cryptocurrency-blogs.   Ahead of Bitcoinist and Bitcoin Magazine.

Cheddur looks interesting.

Cheddur (Android App) has added Datacoin.
It looks quite interesting.  Apparently it can act as an online wallet.
https://www.cheddur.com/

Best results seems to be when you install the app on your phone.

Cool! There are many projects in 2018, will it be the greatest year of Datacoin? We wait for a good start!

I believe we will finish Datacoin 0.9 and Datacoin 0.10 this year.
This will lead to full integration with Apertus.io, which will become web based in 2018.
Apertus.io should also have smart contract capabilities, and I am hopeful that it will be compatible with Hyperledger.
After bedding down the listing on the Next exchange, we will continue to pursue Bittrex and Gate.io, where Datacoin was listed.
Binance has made an interesting announcement about listing "almost any coin" on its decentralized platform.  That seems a fruitful avenue to pursue.
Another possibility is Kucoin.

Cheers

Datacoin now appears on Investing.com, with the right price but without its own page on the site.
You have to do a search on the cryptocurrency page:   https://www.investing.com/crypto/currencies
Does anybody know if Investing.com will automatically create a Datacoin page?  They seem to be reacting to the listing on CoinMarketCap.

Bittrex is deleting your wallet on 30 march so probably not a possibility.

muf18,

Bittrex discontinued Datacoin years ago.
We are the phoenix rising from the ashes.
Work to create a great chain they can't resist, or frankly gtfo <3

Thank you.

Hi extro24,

I share your optimism for your timeline.
There are many talented people who believe in Datacoin and what it can do for We The People.
All the elements are out there - they just need to be assembled.

I appreciate everyone who is working on Datacoin.

Hi Team,

Just a reminder.
Anyone can etch anything on Datacoin . . .

Red River of the North

Cost to etch - about 12 Datacoin (with no optimization or derezzing).
200.76 KB, etched in seconds.

Find this etch using https://Apertus.io and after Datacoin syncs, point Apertus to ROOT ID 9a7755a2cc2b65fd5b2f88d8c97ed6617d7b146205b5034e223c296955d026eb (instructions are in Help -> Info)

You can also locate it with our web portal at http://bitFossil.org, specifically here http://bitfossil.org/9a7755a2cc2b65fd5b2f88d8c97ed6617d7b146205b5034e223c296955d026eb/index.htm

Every picture or program we reference in this thread can be put on Datacoin Smiley
(the one above is referenced from the link http://bitfossil.com/9a7755a2cc2b65fd5b2f88d8c97ed6617d7b146205b5034e223c296955d026eb/Red%20River%20of%20the%20North%20xmas%202017etch.jpg)

Hi muf18, dtc2017

Yes indeed, that is DayTraderCoin, a long dead coin without any community.  This means that the DTC symbol will once again be available for Datacoin if we are able to get back onto Bittrex.
But everything seems to revolve around CoinMarketCap anyway.  Since we are now listed on CMC as active, no other coin can claim DTC.  The only other DTC I could find is on TradeSatoshi, but it cannot be reflected on CMC because it conflicts with Datacoin.   Investing.com listed us as DTC, so I have no worries whatsoever about our future.

Investing.com is actually a big deal.  Many people in the financial world refer to it.  Datacoin is attracting attention because of the name - it suggests an obvious purpose, even to people who are not familiar with cryptocurrencies.  It just makes sense.  And then you have an automatic community, which grows the coin etc.  I believe that coins which have difficult and non-obvious names struggle to get a community going.

I am currently trying to produce a Datacoin 0.10 from Riecoin 0.10.  For anybody who is interested, I am using Qt Creator.

Cheers

Hi GameKyuubi,

Thank you for the great question.
The next version of Apertus will be a browser based application that will be operating system agnostic Smiley

Ok, I compiled Riecoin 10.2 and it is now syncing.  Next step will be to apply the Datacoin stuff (senddata, Cunningham chains etc) to create Datacoin 10.2.

I had to apply a patch wrt to the boost libs:  https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/a2b04ddfe6452e7d6274f4096bf3f2aee695a6d9

Interesting to note that Riecoin is a direct clone of Bitcoin.  It has no Primecoin code.  Which begs the question:  Why not use Bitcoin Core as the base and add the Primecoin proof of work (to produce Primecoin 0.10)?  Then add the Datacoin specific code to get Datacoin 0.10.  Added advantage is that it may get the Primecoin people involved.

So the logical way to proceed would be to rename Primecoin/Datacoin 0.8.6 prime.cpp and swop into Riecoin/Bitcoin 0.10.2 miner.cpp.  As a start.  Then add Datacoin 0.8.6 rpc changes (for senddata/getdata operations).  Finally do Datacoin specific genesis block, base58 constants, graphics, naming etc.  Three big operations.

EDIT:  Just came across Primecoin Core:  https://github.com/primecoin-ng-group/primecoin-core.
That changes everything.

Hi extro24,

I spent some time looking at Riecoin this weekend too. First thing I noticed is that although they're labeling it Riecoin 10.2 it is a 0.9 branch derivative.
Then, I started a comparison of how the proof-of-work had been integrated.

I'm glad you found the development branch for Primecoin Core on 0.16.
Let's watch the rollout and continue parallel development.

We may learn a thing or two as they upgrade the Primecoin network.

Best Regrds,

Hi Chicago

As you can see from the above I was able to compile the wallet but syncing is another story.  Not sure if the addnode command is active.  But the repository says "compilable" so this is a good wicket.
The author is eXtremal:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=251850.msg32193882#msg32193882.

-extro

EDIT  Put bootstrap.dat in ".bitcoin" directory and syncing started.
EDIT  Sync stuck at 3 years and 6 days.  addnode returns null.

Datacoin Core 0.16

I suppose we now have to apply the "datacoin initial" commit of oocook5u to Primecoin Core 0.16 to get Datacoin Core 0.16?
"Showing 35 changes with 329 additions and 230 deletions".  Obviously a lot of tweaking will be involved.
