How fast it is compared to Paycoin?
www.paycoin.com

Much faster...

You probably never used Paycoin, it has nearly instant transaction.

An average confirmation is around 2/5 seconds and at maximum less than a minute.

It achieve this by having a nearly centralised mining in the hand of a single Company GAW Miners. I tried it and it has nearly instant transactions.

FastCoin is interesting if it can achieve the same result without having centralised mining.

That makes no sense, why would you be interested in a coin that is not only centralized, but operated by a single company. Sounds like a sham. Fastcoin has always promoted decentralization, not controlled or operated by a single entity. Gaw miners are using their coin as a way to increase their own mining profits, you don't see that?

"PayCoin (XPY) an altcoin backed by GAW miners, which is believed to be a scam, recently joined the Top 5 club of cryptocurrencies according to its market valuation on CoinMarketCap. At the time of valuation, PayCoin was also informally launched on 16th December with an initial investment of $54.5 million brought into the market. It is also believed that PayCoin is part of a ponzi scheme with GAW Miners playing a major role."

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

http://inetrader.com/ looks like this pool is taking 90% of the coins instead of paying out.

That's a P2Pool node, all the coins are paid out directly to miners wallets, there is no way the "pool" can take any coins. If you're looking at the solved blocks list, you'll see there are a lot, however, because of the way P2Pool works on it's own sharechain, many of these blocks are orphaned or stale.

Perhaps you should read up on how P2Pool functions and I can also point out that it is decentralized.

That is the reason cause I'm interested in Fastcoin.

So true. Evident by the fact that NO centralized coin has a future. Unless you have a border and an army, you can't host a centralized currency. Its only inevitable you get shut down by the local authority. What was the name of that crap China shut down a couple years prior to Bitcoin, can't remember.

Any reason why hash-to-coin is showing FST coin block times of 2000% to 5000% typically?  Are they not able to keep up with the blocks generated?

What would help reduce this time?  Due to this high block finding time -- miners are making 1/10 to 1/20 of what they think they are.

Any recommendations on getting the block chain synced on a simple dedicated NOMP pool?

I'm going to be angry with myself when I remember the damn name. Point is. Someone opened up their own currency in China pre-bitcoin. It became popular with locals and merchants. Fully in use as a currency within a region. . . Seeing it as a threat to authority, Chinese government descended on their head offices and shut it down, arrested a bunch of people. They would have done the same thing to Bitcoin 5 years ago, but decentralization makes it impossible stop. That's what makes Bitcoin different. You take away the decentralization you have nothing. What's the point?

And its happened over and over in history. Currency is sovereignty. You set up your own currency you are declaring sovereignty. Governments don't generally like you doing that within their borders.

Anyone here?  Or is this the wrong forum?

So I sent a transaction of 15,000 FST - and it never showed up or confirmed.  I even included a very good transaction fee of .1 FST.

Any idea to salvage this?  I would hope this isn't lost forever?  It was sent about 4 days ago.

I've restarted my wallet many times.  Nothing.  I am successful at sending 5,000 FST at a time, however, and it is super fast.

Look here on resolving orphan transactions.

0.1 FST for 15,000 FST doesn't seem very good.

The transaction is not lost.

Your wallet thinks it was sent when it may not have been transmitted properly.

You can recover the transaction by dumping private keys and moving them to a new wallet.

I wrote a tiny script to do that here: https://github.com/ethought/PrivateKeyMover

Sorry - the transaction fee was actually 73.50 FST (maybe it was .1 FST per 1kB).  Thanks for everyone's response.  I'll try the script.

So what is the maximum one should send per transaction?  And should the transaction fee be higher than .1 FST per 1kB?

This coin is super fast, when I was sending 5000 FST to Cryptsy at a time.  Love it!

Wouldn't -salvagewallet on the commandline do pretty much the same thing? If I understand correctly, it forgets then rebuilds the transaction list by rescanning the block chain, matching private keys to transactions included in blocks. I could be wrong.
