This falls under the category of "post scarcity utopia" which unless someone invents cold fission or another form of perpetual motion machine, is still science fiction for now.

You underestimate the need for blow and hookers.  Even with energy abundance, picking crops in the tropics and going down on schmucks will require money.

I recommend diluting the Zeitgeist kool-aid with a bit of reading from Tom Murphy's blog:

No it doesn't. It's not post-scarcity at all. Even if goods and energy are free, real estate and professional services are still scarce and money will still be needed to trade them. </thread>

Professional services are not scarce, they are being digitized and automated all the time.  Go look at any accounting or law firm that has outsourcing agreements in other countries or improved software that requires fewer people to operate.  Also I put that in quotes because the idea of free energy has been speculated about for decades with no success, until it's a practical technology this whole line of conversation is just speculation.

All it really says is that what you pay for is other peoples time.

Even if you have enough energy, if all the energy on the planet are owned by a few people, there will still be problems, it is the ownership caused all problems, not technology

Money is a measurement of ownership, since money have universal equivalence, if you own money, you own energy

There are two components involved in everything:

Energy and labor.

Money would still be required.

To look at it from a different viewpoint:
Why is almost all software and digital data free? It requires almost 0 energy and 0 labor to propagate extra copies.

um artificial scarcity, how do you think our gasoline prices are set? If we had a fission machine it would be solely owned by the illuminati lol.

Wishful thinking at its prime.

As long as there is property there is value and therefore a medium of exchange that is value between two or more people, e.g. money.

I recommend diluting the Zeitgeist kool-aid with a bit of reading from Tom Murphy's blog:

http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2012/04/economist-meets-physicist/

And another recommend from me for his blog. The later posts get a bit tired but the early stuff is superb.

Particularly good are ...

http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/10/the-energy-trap/
http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/10/why-not-space/
http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/07/galactic-scale-energy/
http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/09/got-storage-how-hard-can-it-be/

Don't be put off by the "Peak Oil" meme, this is rational stuff not doom-mongering.
