I should be well on my way to getting rich right now. I can't seem to keep any crypto or fiat due to various addictions.  Any advice?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Use multisig: ask a trusted person to be co-signer.

Alternative: toughen up and stop your addictions.

design a smart contract, in such as way, that it doesn't allow you to withdraw any funds for the next, let's say 5 years

it's possible, but you need solidy language skills to achive that

I believe that whenever a Bitcoin transaction is sent to the network the leftover change is sent back to your wallet to a new address. This transaction looks like it combined all of that change and used it as input.
