Subject says it all really.
Blockchain technology has the ability to change the world because it changes the way we think about software engineering, and when it comes down to it, software engineering is all about people, and people are pretty much "the world" for us.
I, for one, wonder whether it could be used to provide legitimate digital elections, but I also wonder how we could implement it given how few people in our societies care enough to learn how to better themselves, their society as a whole, and the world.
So..... how do you want to see it change the world?
