I just used my Myselium app (wallet) to buy 500 dollars of BTC. The charges on top was 50 dollars. So spent 550 dollars.

Now i have the BTC on mywallet and its saying its worth only 399 dollars. Is this right? Have i been ripped off by using the buy/sell option inside Myselium app?

Thanks in advance from a total noob Smiley

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Everything you mentioned happened in the same moment? I mean, just after buying, you had 399$? because It's very likely that the price changed after you bought. Mycelium offer three options to buy/sell bitcoin, using credit card, bank account with Glidera and with other Mycelium users, so which one you used? If it was one of the two first options, you may want to contact them directly.

After paying 50 dollars in fees to buy 500 dollars worth of btc via my Mycelium wallet im reckoning there must be better deals going with lower fees. I want to buy an actual whole bitcoin. Anyone know the best place?. Im based in Spain but also have UK accounts. Thanks in advance.

localbitcoins.com can be most appropriate place for buying BTC with tons of offers which you can choose from, but still can be risky, so be careful.

Amount of coins in your wallet will not change (if you don't send/receive coins) but the value of the coins in usd is constantly changing. So what you see is the current value. My guess is that this transaction was so expensive because it was bank transfer which is costly by default.

The charges were premium one man, i would never pay such high charges, instead i would buy LTC which is low cost when it comes to transact, but don't mind i am not recommending you LTC but just taking analogy. The rates that you paid as fee is too much IMO.

I would say https://localbitcoins.com/ is probably the cheapest way to buy bitcoin. You can also try to find someone who will sell you a paper wallet with the amount that you want, in this case you don't pay any additional fees, you just need to swipe the paper wallet to your own wallet and funds are there.

I can understand your problem this way when you buy the bitcoin price at that time is $ 500 after you buy the price it will be $ 300 because bitcoin is a coin unlike gold or any money Anyway it's thirsty it can fluctuate quite large price in short time. This should draw experience when buying bitcoin should see where it is if it is too high, do not buy and you will buy it at a lower price. Good luck  Kiss
