Why not just start the difficulty at 1.0 wouldn't that be better than having people hash 0 blocks to 1.0 difficulty?

Its been answered a bunch of times on why scrypt-based coins always generally start at near 0 diff.

That's because the following in the OP:

Quote
- block reward 0 until difficulty 1 (4900 blocks, this is to prevent a orphan fest at release, after 1 difficulty block rewards become 15 coins a block)

does not match the source code.  This coin actually retargets every 250 blocks and blocks started giving out coins at block #1500.

{
    int64 nSubsidy = 15 * COIN;

   if(nHeight < 1500) //no reward for 7 difficulty adjustments, diff should be 1 by then.
    {
        nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;
    }
   if(nHeight == 2) //premine for bounties, etc
    {
        nSubsidy = 10000 * COIN;
    }

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th.  The Attorney: I would advise you do that.  Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?  The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law.

I'm a noob so I may be misunderstanding this but it seems that the coins have started at block 1500 instead of what was previously announced.

Are you getting paid for each block found?  I will enable the pool if that's the case.
