Hi,

I'm in Asia.  I have a friend who is in Canada that want to transfer USD or CAD to me.
I'm thinking of asking her to send me BTC instead.
She doesn not really know BTC and not IT iterate, what is the best method I should ask her to send me BTC?

best = convenient for her to use her bank account/debit card or etc + lowest fees.

Thanks

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

If she is in Canada - you can ask her to use one of the Bitcoin ATMs - there are many in Canada, just give her your Bitcoin address for depositing.
You can find Bitcoin ATM locations on the map.

Totally agree, this is one of the major problems about Bitcoin ATMs nowadays.

Anyway I see there are two more Bitcoin ATMs in Toronto - lamassu and BTM from Bitaccess - so definitely worth to check those.
From my experience normally the fees are about 3-5% interval, so 7% is pretty high. But this data maybe not up to date as fees are changed often, so I would recommend to check Robocoin in place as well (although this would be the most hard from registration point of view to send money, as she will need to register first through ATM).
