ok, agreed on both points. Yet all the other eXXX coins have more or less failed. So fingers crossed this one is different - and the strong community support does indicate as much.
Plus quite a few tokens will be lost forever in less than two days - since anyone who is not aware of the swap and has their coins on an exchange will be really gutted afterwards :-(

I think what makes eBTC so strong is the community and it was fairly spread out with an airdrop. This reached 300 pages in about a month which is pretty crazy compared to other coins. eBTC to me is a simple but great idea, and a lot of people will probably jump at a chance to buy a new bitcoin while its cheap.
Yes the community is the backbone. ALSO, Ebtc is btc on the eth platform and its 10 times cheaper than btc! It's MUCH faster than btc. New dev team that took over is better the original dev. There are so many crap coins that do nothing and are worth 100's of millions. Ebtc is better than most of them. |

I transfer all my coins to MEW, soon I am rich, less than 4 days I can buy villa in spain!!!!!
i don't believe you will be rich in 4 days. Maybe you can buy a new pair of shoes.  Please remain realistic. Maybe you are rich in some years. Maybe. We hope that eBTC will grow up fast - but not to fast. Would be better to take a long sucessful ride. We should be patient. But look at Bitconnect, it went from 10 cents to $220 in less than a year. I was just checking the bitconnect thread and it started on Nov 2016 and has a total of 153 pages to this day. Bitcoin Cash thread started in July 2017 and to this day has 387 pages. Ebtc thread started on Sept 2017 and in about 1 month it has a whopping 297 pages. lol There sure is a huge interest. If there weren't any coding problems who knows how high the value would be by now. lol Something to think about while we wait for the new contract. In my case I do not have idea if I have to get an special eBTC wallet address in MEW to transfer my tokens or just send the to the regular ETH address I got on MEW (0x56688ed02Bcb620Ef5898d358B119FEbBa715361)

Sorry but I disagree. There has been PLENTY of time (two weeks) for people to do what they need to do. To create a new MEW takes minutes or to just add the new custom token to your MEW takes seconds. ALL of us have been waiting and it feels like forever now for this to happen. I would expect more from a Sr. Member. |

I have been on this ride from the start. I've been happy, I've been disgusted. But I haven't sold a thing. Why? THIS IS CRYPTO. I am a small fish with a small piece of the pie (my airdrop) but I can see it. I could see it from the first moment I read the name ebtc. Yes this could all be a scam, a trick. So could all of crypto. But it could also be something big. I was here in 2013 on these boards trying to get my head around btc. I read all the negative junk and got spooked and stopped buying because of what people were saying. Guess what? They didn't know. No one does. A few posts back someone was pushing another junk token here, one you could mine like btc. Why not add that feature into ebtc? There is a lot of potential here. Lots of different ideas. IF this swap goes through look out. |

We're really going to have to pull together as a community to make this work. We need retailers to start accepting EBTC as a form of payment.
Indeed we need to push how great of a currency eBTC is, fast and easy. No need to store many different wallets just an Ethereum wallet. Good branding, name recognition etc. |

Has any other exchange for eBTC been discussed so far? Mercatox isn't the worst but it would be very good to have a major exchange for eBTC. The swap has to happen first before you will see ebtc on larger exchanges. I'm surprised it made it to Hitbtc without the swap. Too much uncertainty at the moment. A few more days and we'll have more clarity. Also congrats to ebtc 300 pages! lol not bad for 1 month. Did anyone here push for HitBtc or did they just list the coin before the swap? It means more work for them during the swap, maybe they weren't even aware of the event. |

No, if you already have a MEW address you don't need a new one. MEW acts as a wallet for ETH and all ERC20 tokens. You do have to manually add the eBTC token to your MEW. Someone posted a step by step in comment #6045. |
