Through the launch of HXOUSE this week, STACK and STK was able to bring our communities together! STACK was present at the panel events at HXOUSE and HXOUSELIVE held at Toronto’s hotspot, Rebel. HXOUSELIVE was an incredible experience for not only STACK to be the Presenting Partner, but for the loyal fans of XO who got to see ‘the Crew’ perform in an intimate space and paying homage to Toronto.

We will be starting our Women in Fintech series that will be released monthly on the STK Medium blog. Through this series we will profile women in the industry, by sharing their unique stories, accomplishments and obstacles they face. We want to celebrate each woman’s accomplishments in the workplace well as open the conversation about their challenges. Through this series, we hope to inspire our readers with each woman’s journey and story. To kick off the series, we are profiling who we believe to be three influential women who pioneered the way for today’s women in tech.

At STK, we are running our own hackathon, Stackathon, which is a female-run blockchain hackathon in the Distillery District in Toronto. We are trying to bring together a Toronto blockchain developer community, in hopes of introducing more females in blockchain. We are also looking into running blockchain education in high schools, which will inspire the next generation of developers in computing.

The STACK card has flipped! The first vertical card in Canada not only features a sleek and clean design in all black but also signifies disruption. The user’s information and card numbers are now displayed in the back, adding security. In an interview with Newswire, CEO Miro Pavletic states, “Our mobile-first culture sees the world in portrait mode, and that doesn’t stop at banking, most of our transactions are now vertical — from the ATM to POS — and although horizontal had a purpose, it no longer makes sense. Design builds on human experience and function; that’s why STACK’s vertical cards are built for today.”

STACK’s first 24-hour hackathon, Stackathon, was not only a great way for the STACK & STK teams to connect with the local Toronto tech and blockchain community, but it was also intended to be a learning experience for the participants whether they were new or experienced in blockchain. Workshops and mini-events were planned in a way for new blockchain developers to ramp up fast enough to be able to build a Dapp Prototype by the end of the hackathon.

STK to use Chainlink to Bridge Real Life Data with Blockchain



STK will be the first crypto payment solution in North America, providing users access to their money anytime, anywhere, and regardless of what the currency type, including cryptocurrency. Currently, transactions don’t settle in real-time on the blockchain and merchants that accept cryptocurrency are limited which cause roadblocks in mass adoption. The STK Token will be used as an utility in the STACK app to enable real-time transactions with cryptocurrency through the use of state channels. State channels are a technique for making off-chain transactions with almost the same security guarantees as an on-chain operation. It provides the speed required for STACK’s point of sale purchase mechanism: at the moment of purchase, the user sends STK Tokens to STACK in exchange for STACK using their liquidity pool to make a fiat purchase through MasterCard.
