Guys! We must look at this kind of news very skeptically. 95% that this news is fake. It's just wonderful time after China's news influence gone and somebody just has to make a big pile of shit. Somebody who did not catch bitcoin at 3000$.

Same here! This news is kinda bullshit. The rumor that is spreading around the market. I'm tired of it and I don't believe that.

Judging by translated sources, the situation is not clear at the moment - when this will happen and how it will be enforced. As the US chose regulation instead of ban - there is a huge available market, which is likely to  persist and even persuade others to reverse bans.

Check this article. South Korea is Going to Ban All Kinds of Local ICOs. The key word is LOCAL. This decision won't be so loud as China ICO ban even if this is not the fake one.

This one's from cointelegraph.com: "South Korea potentially “banning” ICOs has unsettled markets Friday, as regulatory statements from earlier this month come back to haunt investors."

why's the banning in quotations tho? To be honest, I don't see the ICO ban going on to the full extent, it would probably be more regulated. I mean, South Korea isn't that much known to ban things unlike some... communist countries, so yes, better controll of those ICOs will be in place.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Apparently it is happening:

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-southkorea-bitcoin/south-korea-bans-all-forms-of-initial-coin-offerings-idUSKCN1C408N?il=0

It seems to be domestic ICOs that are banned:

Quote
“Stern penalties” will be issued on financial institutions and any parties involved in issuing of ICOs, the statement added, without elaborating further on the details of those penalties.

It doesn't affect non-ICO coins like bitcoin, litecoin and so on.

same thing with China. I think more countries will follow this, and regulation is not a bad thing for cryptocurrency. If scams and frauds disappears, cryptocurrency will become stronger and widespread

Korea gov is friendly with USA gov so I think they will just control ICO. not ban it. many good ICO from USA still coming

Most of the icos does not allow US participants

Are we gonna see ban on exchanges too?

I noticed that too, but don't know why - maybe for preventing scam..But what happens if US citizen invest in this ICO? Going to the jail or waiting big fine?)

No one care, Korean and Chinese volumes are fake and it not going to change much, price wise.

I too do not care but let's not forget that china is one of the major miners in blockchain in which why the price went down extremely. I know that now is different because it is slowly rising to 4k China's lose in btc is still a big rollback in the history of blockchain. But btc is gaining better supporters and we small traders dont really feel the change but for millionaires who invested in btc, they must've had issues to deal.

I do'nt care too minus the chinese still bitcoin reach $4,000 and now with out Korean it still it will be $4,000. I just feel sad because of so many obstacles for bitcoin before it reach $5,000 at the end of this year without these issues probably it already reach it by now.It will be their people lost not ours if they will only think the welfare of their people they would not think too much of the bitcoin disadvantages but instead they should find ways to counter it.

Thats great, better to regulate this ICO thing. I do agree that this should be regulated  to screen from fraud and scams. If this happen then we focused on trading. Or we should accept only those existing company with existing infrastructure and business license to conduct for ICO.

The Korean government should first study and know the situation well before they make unreasonable decisions. Instead of following China, they should follow America. Issue the warning first and then study what is going on.

Does the SEC want to ban all ICOs? I reckon no because there are benefits. One solution for it is to limit how much money an ICO raises.

I suppose they studied it all before ban, don't believe they did this without reason.  I just hope this won't affect too much on signature campaigns.
