Zilliqa is a new blockchain platform that is designed to scale in an open, permission-less distributed network securely.
The core feature that makes Zilliqa scalable is sharding — dividing the network into several smaller component networks
(called shards) capable of processing transactions in parallel.

The result of the first internal testnet reported a throughput of 1389 Tx/s for 2400 nodes in the network (run on AWS EC2)

A short summary is available here: https://blog.zilliqa.com/zilliqa-hello-world-50b76983cd12
The whitepaper can be found on the webpage: https://www.zilliqa.com
Any thoughts?

One of the challenges of distributed ledger technology (DLT) is the ability to scale on a global basis.  The massive amount of financial transactions digitally roaming the world are astounding. Zilliqa, created by researchers at the National University of Singapore led by Xinshu Dong, has announced a Blockchain platform that can top 2,400 transactions per second bringing it closer to a public testnet and source code reléase.

I am looking forward for it, after going through the WP (which is rather technical) I think it has a lot of potential. They have not released the terms of their sale yet (although on the Slack there are some complaints about the cap of the pre-sale). I will wait and see if the terms are fair for the community because most of ICOs are not and this causes for coins / tokens to get dumped when they start trading. Happens to the most promising projects. I have learned to wait, NOT to participate in the ICOs that have large bonuses or discounts for whales (or that have tiered public sales as well) and pick up my tokens for the long term from exchanges, at a better price.

XTRABYTES is another interesting platform and not a ICO.

www.xtrabytes.global

The goal here is to reach 10.000 tx per/sec and im sure it will happen since its network is frictionless.
The whole platform is only few month away from being released and the coin is still super undervalued imo.

Its will have drag and drop of any excisting Apps on to its modules and codeing in basicly any language. Huge advantage.
Also have its on funding ability with its xfuel token, that will also be used in the Static nodes for scaleing the network.
I could go on and on.

But maybe this Zilliqa will be better in some areas, but i pretty much doubt it will be in all areas.

FBG Capital invests in blockchain platform Zilliqa

Zilliqa, a high-speed blockchain platform from researchers at the National University of Singapore, has today announced a strategic partnership with FBG Capital, a digital asset management firm in blockchain-based capital markets. The firm will be investing into the project and Zhuo Shuoji, a founding partner of FBG and a veteran cryptocurrency trader, will be joining Zilliqa as an advisor to help guide commercial and financial industry adoption of the new blockchain platform.

Amrit Kumar & Xinshu Dong
Zilliqa – A Scalable Sharded Public Blockchain

https://epicenter.tv/episode/209/

Scaling public blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum is a long standing technical challenge. In this episode, we cover Zilliqa which has pioneered a design to scale public blockchain throughput with the number of nodes by sharding the blockchain. Sharding has been hitherto proposed as a scaling technique by Ethereum. Zilliqa is one of the first projects to propose a concrete design with an operational testnet processing a couple thousand transactions per second across several shards.

Our guests, Xinshu Dong (CEO) and Amrit Kumar (Crypto Lead), walk us through the objectives, protocol design and fundraising structure of this innovative project. We also briefly cover Zilliqa’s novel approach to designing a smart contract language and execution environment.

Topics we discussed in this episode
Sharding as a scaling technique
Different kinds of sharding, including state sharding and non-state sharding
How Zilliqa works under the hood – consensus algorithms & transaction processing
Zilliqa’s novel approach for a smart contract language
Details of a new cryptocurrency, Zillings

STATIC nodes by definition means "Services Transactions and Trusted in Control". Doesn't this mean that the static nodes are trusted?
BTW, one needs to register to become a static node. In short, the whole architecture appears to be running a permissioned framework.
Did I miss something?

Hi. Is the requirement for participation is to be in slack/telegram before the announcement or is it to be in the zilliqa group on slack/telegram before the announcement?
