Interesting thing. I've connected to web-site over VPN with IpSec encryption. But "site" wrote that my connection is " unprotected" .
Another question i have is - how you can guarantee that "no logs" ? As i remember sometimes ago PureVPN share logs to FBI, even they are also guaranteed anonymity, no logs, etc.

Only really one way around complete control and its to setup your own VPS. Logs are going to be kept as a protection and control for most VPN companies. Its like the KYC rules people have to obey or get hit hard with fines.
Presume the worst case and you will be more so prepared for inevitable issues.

Almost all VPN companies keep records, there is no problem keeping records. Are there ads on the VPN?? The ads are sometimes very annoying. I will install the VPN according to whether it is an advertisement or not.
How there is no problem on a VPN keeping records? Why would you use a VPN if you don't care about your privacy (which is what you are saying)? Should Tor start keeping logs aswell?

I wouldn't use this service for nothing in the world. Even a few major VPN providers in the world have been found keeping logs and cooperating with the FBI or governments. Imagine what a random and free "VPN provider" will do with your data... Remember: "If you don't pay for the product, you are the product".

It will only show protected if you are connected to one of our servers. Maybe we should name it something more logical as its purpose might be interpreted differently

In regards to no logs, you can only take our word for that. PureVPN decided to cooperate with the FBI for some odd reasons + they lied to all of their customers. It's a difficult matter to prove that we don't log our clients

And here the problem is you are probably the only one using it, so you are not as anonymous as if 100's of people were using the same server. VPN companies in Panama are not required to fulfill the KYC by Panamanian law.

You can't just generalize because there are a few rotten VPN companies. Yes, we are nobody right now, so why should people trust us over some VPN provider paid to be featured in PCMAG, The New York Times or some other news magazine. Our VPN service is going to be free until we can provide a satisfying and bug-free experience for our end users after that we will offer paid plans with access to better servers and more features.

Yes, you are the product but being the product is not always a bad thing! The VPN is free because it helps us grow the number of users registered faster, thus we get more exposure as people probably are more likely to recommend us to their friends as we offer a free service in that moment and the users help us with finding bugs, improve the overall usability and suggest new features.

We have just updated our Privacy Policy, can be found here: https://www.whoami.li/privacy - it should answer most privacy-related questions.

Hello, there. I am currently looking among several VPN options and came across this one. I was wondering, is it possible to use your VPN without having to download your software, like a regular PPTP connection through the built-in operating system options? I would like to stay as far away as possible from downloading software and it is one of my pet peeves with most VPN services. Also, will it only work on OSX and Windows or will it also work on mobile phones, etc.? Any plans to expand on this? I would rather have a VPN with a small company such as yourself than with big ones who probably care less about their customers.

The signature campaign posters adding useless redundant fluff to their posts to reach their minimum word count are lowering my IQ.

Hello, we do not offer PPTP atm but I think we can add it in the near future. Right now we are only using OpenVPN so if you don't wanna use our VPN client you can download the OpenVPN config from the user-panel and use OpenVPN itself. This works on Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, and iPhone. If you have any questions or need help drop by our discord (link in thread) and we will gladly answer any questions you may have. You can also email us, please check out the website for contact details.

Thanks for considering us.

I registered at your website and downloaded the configuration file given by your system on your website. I can confirm that it, indeed, works just fine. The speeds are a bit on the slower side, but that is to be expected from a service that is being provided to the user for free.

I only tested the USA location so the experience might be different for different servers depending on which one you choose. Everything seems to be running fine, however, and even though the speeds aren't that great, the latency is actually pretty low compared to other VPNs I have used in the past. I will report back if I find out more.

You might experience a better speed by using UDP as using the TCP protocol for a TCP based application can result in double performance loss.

We will eventually upgrade our servers to provide a faster connection for our users. Thanks for the feedback!

I'm always in favor of new bitcoin VPN services, especially ones that are conscious about the community and make strong efforts to be compatible with them/us. If the UI is what's posted on the homepage, I'm already a fan of the design - especially the transparent number of users per server.

How's the pricing going to be like after the beta phase is over?

Also: it seems like the WhoAmI website is located at [ https://www.whoami.li ] instead of the [ https://whoamivpn.com ] listed in the first post of the thread. The second link is broken. Smiley

We have not fully decided the pricing yet. Our pricing will, of course, be competitive and justified by the amount of 'advanced' features we will be offering at that moment. We will soon release a new update with more features and better error handling. Thanks for your kind words.

https://whoami.li is a canonical for https://whoamivpn.com I don't have any issues accessing through https://whoamivpn.com is there something I have overlooked?

That's strange. Attempting to connect to the .com on my normal ISP results in a reset connection error, but accessing it via my current VPN provider allows for the request to go through. Same goes for wifi (same ISP) vs. mobile data on my phone.

I didn't really think about trying different modes of access when testing the .com in my last post. It's just me, then.

Never heard of anything similar to this yet. It sounds indeed very strange. Maybe it's a cache problem, try flush DNS cache.

I will be trying out connecting through UDP instead of TCP soon, although I am not the biggest UDP fan. I did use the VPN recently again and I was utterly surprised by how much lower the latency was compared to other VPNs. I know it is not a matter of location, as I am comparing this to similar VPNs near the U.S. Whatever it is that you are doing in order to keep latency to a minimum, it is working wonderfully. I have yet to try out VPNs at other locations, but I don't expect anything different. We'll see how that goes. Is there any ETA on when you plan to go paid?

We still have some minor issues we are trying to improve, these are both server and client related. There will be paid plans in the very near feature, can't give a reasonable ETA yet but we will keep you updated.

What's the incentive for you to provide a free VPN service? I've seen a lot of free VPNs in the past get busted selling customer data. I honestly just can't trust someone that offers a service for free, it's suspicious.

Please note that we are currently in BETA. I have already answered a similar question to yours, this was my response:

"Yes, you are the product but being the product is not always a bad thing! The VPN is free because it helps us grow the number of users registered faster, thus we get more exposure as people probably are more likely to recommend us to their friends as we offer a free service in that moment and the users help us with finding bugs, improve the overall usability and suggest new features."

I'll give it a try.A paid VPN is not exactly safer than a free one anyway. And I understand its market strategy providing free services.
I wish you success in the business.

A paid service might not necessarily be safer or more secure than a free one, but usually when you pay for a service, the tier for which you pay gives you a guarantee for some sort of level or tier of service (for example, a certain amount of bandwidth or speed on a VPN such as this one) and the service provider is more dedicated towards maintaining that tier. Of course, this is going to vary depending on who we are talking about, but given what I know so far about WhoAmI, I feel good about purchasing from them.

Feel free to PM me once a paid version is out!

Beta phase, only a few servers can be choice, I give a little test and have no any problems. Personally, I feel that the UI is pretty cool.
