Which Coins are a great LONG-TERM investment ????

Hey folks,

what do you think, which tokens are a great investment for 5-10 years?

All people tend to speculate on short-term moves but I am more interested in tokens that will go up x times over the next couple of years...

so to say, the Amazons and Googles of the crypto world.

Which coins are REALLY GROUNDBREAKING in your eyes and why?

I mean Bitcoin started the whole thing but technically there are so much better, safer, faster, more anonymous coins that should take over in the long run.

If you want anonymous and privacy then take a look at XSPEC and deeponion. However, for any longterm holding coin then most will probably say NEO (aside from eth and btc), as it still has room to grow

I think investing in alt coin takes a long time. because the price when go to market first time will be very destroyed, plus dump from bounty hunter which become a problem. it would be nice to use the "just hold" formula of warren buffett for the coin that you think is good

i don't think i'd enter any alt with a 5-10 year mind set.

bitcoin has a chance because it has history and trust and crypto as a whole has a requirement for a reference coin. to an extent it's immune from technical superiority.

everything else is fair game. some coins have good ideas. with 5-10 years of development the chances are someone will come up with something that does the same ideas much, much better.

I think waves, eth and etbs is a great coin.I am hopeful that after 10 years these coins will remain and there will be very good profits. Which will help you to become a millionaire. Seeing their position at present, understand them

My big three currently are primalbase which is barely started and will make up big ground next year, Ardor with is starting soon and will be a huge competitor to Ethereum, and Deeponion which will be pretty revolutionary and will be strong in 2018 plus it has a great community. I say invest into those and hold strong.

Currently, my investments are spread out among Ripple, DeepOnion, Stellar, Litecoin and Ethereum. I think DeepOnion has the most potential among these coins since I believe it is highly undervalued at the moment.

For me every coin looks like a scam to be trusted for five to ten years. I mean that's just the personal opinion but who knows I might be just wrong completely.

However, coins which are newly launched can be chased for profits in short time, like fir one month in two months if the ICO was successful enough. They are legit in the initial stages always because they are all new and can afford the payments for exchangers but later they might suck.

So instead of taking one name one should always go for range of coins and should make the portfolio for it.

I have suggested many times about social coin and jibrel as well. These are great coins for the longer periods because of their unique portfolios and pre launched service. This means they having working project already and they are just making the use of extra funds to recreate projects as worlds best platform for commercial consumption. Looking at that means a lot to me and I see potential hike for them, believe me social is gonna be more $50 after few months and it's better to invest money into it right away. Another token that's onto my mind is coss token which is completely used as utility token on their end exchanger, thus it will gain the value eventually. Lots of potential coins but still we need to think twice before we can put our stakes into them. :-)

I feel like omisego is going to very great investment in 3 years. There are other powerful but nearly unknown coins/tokens like aventus and musicoin which are on great ideas. But noone knows if these are gonna work. Good development is the most important thing really.

the answer to that question is BITCOIN and Ethereum because the two coins are just like you claimed that they are like Google and Amazon versions of crypto currency.

I think a 5-10 year horizon is so very long for cryptocurrencies. Everyday there are probably around 3 new ico's being started up. If you look on coinmarketcap and check out the 'recently added' under the trending menu you will see many coins being added everyday. Each of these is someone's new idea or project. If you compare the top 100 coins from 2 years ago to now you will find most relegated off the list and replaced by new entries. It amazes me the number of times I have seen a new ico listed in the top 20 or 30 by market cap out of nowhere, and being valued higher than projects that have been around for several years.

Maybe a better way to pick is by industry sector, e.g. privacy (unlikely because governments won't like them), financial (e.g. crypto debit cards, payment systems), decentralized storage./computation etc etc. Then pick the industry you like and then the coin & team that goes with it.

It was hard to hold altcoin for long period of time, only bitcoin is the best for long term investment. But if you want to take a risk just choose ethereum and LTC these two are still exist for many years and they have a good progress since they start up to now.

I'm thinking the projects that don't cause too much hype but are still delivering on a steady base.

XEM is one of my top runners to be the best long term hold.
WAVES is one I like as well and LISK too.

And ofcourse ETH, this giant beast is hard to ignore.

Yes I agree. I would recommend investing in bitcoin. It's proven and tested. Bitcoin's price will just keep on increasing as years goes by. Surely it will have some dumps along the road, but in the long run, you will surely get a lot of profits.

I think the demand in privacy will grow with time significantly. That is why my picks are Verge and Zen + maybe Zec.

Why not a thinking of 5 to 10 years? If you look at Ethereum and Litecoin, they are midway into their first 5 years. That is the period I would say for these types of long-term alts to fully establish themselves... their identity, their goals, their community and their developments. I cannot say the same about other alts who have merely been around since 2014 or even 2012 but were just sleeping for many years. And yes, I know ICO tokens/alts are in a totally different category, but if you see their roadmaps, many are now looking beyond 5 years.

I would suggest you to go for ICO's. There are some great ICO's which will be the next top altcoins for their platform. Cartaxi is one of them, KICKICO was a good one, right now Electroneum is going on successfully. They will be the future in the altcoins and ICO price will be too low when they succeed.
