Hi all,

as you're growing your portfolio, and start using different wallets and exchanges, and take part in ICOs, what are some ways you guys are tracking your portfolio across all these platforms?

I've BTC/ETH in CB, BTC in Bittrex, ETH in MEW, 4 different ICOs, and the list goes on...

seems like as this grows, it's increasingly hard to keep track, which wallet I used for ETH for an ICO, or which exchange I used to purchase alt coins etc.. I think it could get pretty confusing pretty quickly!

Any good ideas out there?

Thanks!

Well I think you have two main options. Use a tracking system or portfolio tracker like blockfolio and have somebody know your every moves. Or alternatively you can do it manually have a few formulas and use an excel

spreadsheet. Both will get the job done only two things you need to consider is how much time you want to dedicate and privacy is present.

People use different kinds of trackers. It just depends on your personal preference. Try these out, then go for the one you prefer the most:

Blockfolio app: Android PlayStore | Apple iTunes
AltPocket: https://altpocket.io
CoinTracking: https://cointracking.info
CryptoCompare: https://www.cryptocompare.com/portfolio/
CryptoFolio: https://cryptfolio.com

I am using CoinTracking as well
CryptoCompare. In my opinion these are two of the most sensible choices to take into account, but I think that it is up to you to decide for yourself. The taste is not discussed.

Thanks guys!

I’ve been trying blockfolio for awhile to see how it works but that’s more like a portfolio value tracker. While I do want to know once in awhile if my assets are ok, it doesn’t allow me to set up different coin destinations so when I purchase an alt/ico, i’d have to treat it as a sale/trade.

I’ll check the others, thanks!

Blockfolio i cool for on the go but I really hope they will soon have a web version as well. The app only shows % change of the last 24h and the profit of each coin is not visible in the overview.  Sad

I keep everything off the exchanges unless I'm trading. If you keep coins in a wallet where you control the private keys, you don't have to keep checking it. I occasionally will check to make sure my coins are there, but mostly just let them sit.

When I'm trading, I try to only use one exchange at a time to keep things less confusing. I also try not to trade too many coins at the same time because it is a lot of work tracking everything.

I'm using Cryptocompare portfolio to track my investments. I'm happy with this service and can't say anything bad about them. But I'm rarely investing in ICO's, so I don't know is it possible to track ICO investments here.
By searching on Google I saw some people developped their own portofolio excel spreadsheets, connected with Coinmarketcap api. You can try, but I know which ones exactly works.
There are some more websites like Cointracking.info or Coins.live, but didn't tried these, so I can't say anything about them.

I mainly use blockfolio for updates and have a general idea of how much of an investment I originally put in. I also keep some in bittrex and offline wallets so it can get confusing at times but just having a general sense of each investment makes life easier.

You don't have to store them in one exchange. Instead, like others have said, use a portfolio tracker. My favorite in Blockfolio. It has a great design and user interface. You can track in which exchange you store a particular altcoin and use that exchange price to measure that specific coin total value. It also has a nice built-in price graph history, alerts notification, and updated order book. A single great app for cryptocurrency trader.

I just installed Blockfolio and the first impression is okay. I'll test it for a few days. Are these apps safe? What is the probability that someone steals your data if you use one of these?

And here's the security issue, but this time it's worse -- it now has to do with your money...

I just did a bit of research on a few crypto portfolios companies online and I found that the BLOCKFOLIO App is snooping on its users, here' the article:

http://bitcoinerrorlog.com/2017/06/blockfolio-crypto-portfolio-app-is-snooping-on-users/

And they are not the only one's doing this, I'm sure there are quite a few other companies doing this too!

I personally don't trust any of these companies to keep track of my money as there are too many eye balls and too many fingers in the pot. If any of the staff members don't like the amount of money you're making or don't like something else (for any reason) in your account then they could simply shutdown your account at any time and without prior warning, I don't like that.

Let me ask you a question; if you were making 30 million dollars per month in bitcoin or Monero, would you take that chance? Would you risk your wealth by placing it in the watchful hands of strangers or would you run your own secure server and install a personal portfolio software on there?

I don't personally make that kind of money per month , but it's a good habit to start so that when you do -- you'd be more prepared than most people.

Food for thought.

As far as I know, you don't need to enter your personal data in Blockfolio for tracking your altcoins, just trade price, quantity and trade date. So there is nothing to steal.

Actually, you're right. Of course I didn't know that yesterday. Today, when I tested the application I saw the same and in general I like the app. It only confuses me the security issue from the post above. But I think that this should be a separate topic for some new threat and probably would be of interest to many on fotum.

I, generally, use google spreadsheet where i save all my data and that helped me a lot in the pas but with the data being bigger and bigger every day it became a little hard to track and sometimes i need to analyse those data and make some comparison and such thing is not possible without adequate softwares. After reading previous replies I will definitely try one of the solutions mentioned there.
Many informative replies here, thank you all for sharing  Cheesy
