Have searched for it but dit not find anything. Would be nice to have so ++1
If i could develp i would write one myself, but thats to long ago with assembly, pascal and real C before the ++ came.
Guess the leap to ios dev wil be to big to learn in a few hours ;(

I have some questions I have been trying to find the answer for:

can I use stratum address and mine NC at the same time?  Or should I use the get work address for NC?
How do I choose PPLNS or PPS when using CG miner?   I can only see the one address for both

And thanks for having me on your site I am a bit impatient when it comes to this subject so I am posting this long shot here in the hope someone will validate my musings....

I have a big question about using already available FPGA devices for bitcoin miners.

I have found a few pci and pcie boards with similar/suitable FPGA chips on them.


Two for example are

Both have Altera FPGA's and other high maths DSP's on them for running special processor intensive algorithms and I want to know if it's possible to get a miner client working on any operating system to use these boards without having to flash them with custom firmware and/or learn complicated assy languages or hdl's?

Anyone else having trouble connecting to BitMinter.  I got my block erupter yesterday and had it working all day and all last night. But today I can't get connected. And the website has a 0.00 Thps as the computational power. Is it just me?

If it says you are going to make .15 a day, shouldn't you get close in a 3 week period?  Maybe that figure should be adjusted to more realistic value?  Is that based on the last 500 blocks?  I would like to see a more current value based on the last 20.  What do you think?

Rova it wont be worth the effort doing.  Powerful for a sound card but not for dealing with 256 bit encryption.   Maybe a penny or two a day, what makes you think otherwise

Although they do help make sounds they can't record or produce any sounds on their own they are just dsp cards for running complex algorithms I thought it might be plausible to use them as they have FPGA devices and I know the powercore is old now but the fact you can have almost unlimited number (viafirewire) connected to your computer could surly mean something you know some recording studios will have racks of these things and i picked one up very cheap!!! Not mention avid/protools HD cards yet either I just hate that system and don't use it but its full of maths crunching chips!!!!!!

The approximate mint speed is the average you will earn. It is calculated the same way that dozens of bitcoin mining calculators you will find around different websites.

Some payment info:

The approximate mint speed shown in BitMinter client is just that, an approximation. Bitcoin mining is like a lottery. How often we find a block, and earn bitcoins from that block, is random. Each hash you process is like a lottery ticket. Each hash has a (very low) chance of producing a block. You get paid with coins from a block whenever a block is found by someone mining in the pool. Your share of the income from a block is determined by the amount of work that you did in the most recent 10 shifts at the time the block is found.

Because of this, your daily income will vary with luck. That's often referred to as variance. There may also be some hours between two payouts if we are having bad luck and no blocks are found for a while.

In addition to that there is a delay from the time you do some work until that work is fully paid. The work you do is registered in a shift, and then that work is credited with income from new blocks we find until its shift is no longer among the 10 latest shifts. This takes a few hours. If you turn off the prepay perk then there is an additional delay having to wait for blocks to confirm, which takes about 20 hours.

NMC is mined without any extra work, all you need to do is connect to the bitminter server (the same address is valid) or just use the bitminter client its very user friendly.

To anyone else have you guys experienced a lot of downtime for the  mining server (not just the website) over the past few days, I've come home and seen not able to connect a few times.


A nice feature would be email when worker is down I don't think this is an option or I just haven't been able to find it

I understand what an estimate is, but is it right?  Just because "It is calculated the same way that dozens of bitcoin mining calculators you will find around different websites."  Doesn't really make it right and if it is truly random, then why estimate at all?  Estimating a random act is saying is like guessing a die will role a 1 , 10 times in a minute.  If you said in the last 1000 rolls, 100 where a 1, it is still random.  THat it could be easily 200 the next 1000 rolls.  So it doesn't really mean anything. So why say it at all?  So finding a 1 block in 24hours, and 9 blocks in 24 hours is completely random, so saying someone can earn .15 a day, is completely random too.

I loaded the newest version of Java, Java 7 and that didn't work, either.  I temporarily turned off my anti-virus program, (super dangerous!) and that didn't work, either.

I'm almost thinking about just getting a cheap new computer, it might be easier!  (BTW, what cheap computer should I purchase to add USB Hubs for mining?)

I'm sorry if this question has been posted already, as I'm not only new to BitMinter, but BitCoin in general.  But I am finding that the BitMinter client is slowing down my computer substantially as to almost make it unusuable.  It's also kept my computer running hot - as I've always had the fan running when I leave the client running all night.  And yet, for my efforts, I've made just barely under 1/5th of one cent worth of bitcoins so far.

I've gotten the warning "Warning: Electricity Wasting Slow CPU implementation in use" when I've used it.  I don't know if this has anything to do with the above, but I suspect it might.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated.  I suspect that you would all appreciate my help mining bitcoins for all!  :-)

You want to run the GPU and not the CPU.  There are options in the main window to "engine start" it.  If your GPU is not listed you might not have a compatible one.  CPU mining is completely useless at this point and the Dr is planning on removing support soon.

I'm running a 2011 MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard, but if need be, I can switch it to Windows 7 using BootCamp.  I'm also using Windows on my work computer, but I don't know the exact specs.

How would I access GPU mode?  I don't see where to do it on the control panel.

So that would mean that a MacBook Pro is basically worthless for mining?

Yes, unless you plug an ASIC into it

As for any other computer with a dedicated graphics card, I believe you just open BitMinter client and it will see the GPU and allow you to start mining with it with a push of a button.

Of course the estimate is correct. And of course it makes sense to calculate this average. If you roll dice that can have a value from 1 to 6 then the average over time will converge on 3.5. This number, 3.5, is useful information, and therefore we present this data. I'm not sure what you mean with "completely random". There are different probabilities and interesting things you can calculate based on them.

Yeah, not just CPU mining but even GPU mining is too inefficient to be profitable these days. Plug in an ASIC or two and your Mac can feed them work just fine.
