I posted some ideas for a new reward system at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=27062.msg457927#msg457927

Please leave your thoughts on it here or in that thread.

Some updates to the miner today. Details are in the separate miner thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=31163.0

Hopefully I will be optimizing Radeon 4xxx and 5xxx performance in the next update.

 Cheesy

The new client looks good.  Now I can keep it in performance mode and still be able to see the number of units completed and start/stop the operation.

For the next update, is it possible to add a minimize to tray option?

Thank you for all the work.

I just have to say I'm loving your miner!  I've just really started getting into mining and after switching to your pool it's been a lot easier to "play" with settings. TY!

I'm using dual 6950s and getting 740mhps. I'm hoping to increase that to 840 as i mess around with tweaks.   Grin  Any advice is welcome.

Yes, that was a lucky couple of blocks.  Grin

Thanks, and welcome aboard! Simplicity and user-friendliness are some of the things we're going for.

For 6950s you'll want to keep vectors and BFI_INT on. 128 seems like a good starting point for work group size, but you can try some others out too.

For the break interval I have found that using a high value doesn't always play nice with multiple GPUs. One of my machines with 4 GPUs runs very well with 20 ms intervals. I'm considering lowering the default value. But I also have single-GPU systems that like a relatively high value like 50. The difference may also have to do with Windows versus Linux. Anyone else have similar or different experiences with this?

If you are feeling adventurous you may want to experiment with overclocking the GPU. And possibly underclocking memory to reduce temperature.

I am also working on new optimizations to get the hashrate up a little further. More info will follow.

Giving you guys a shot.  Love the integrated miner, very nice for people just getting into mining.  Also be sure to list your site on our merchant directory btcmerchants.com

Thanks and keep up the great work

Ty for the advice. I've overclocked both my cards to 900mHz and the shaders sucessfully unlocked on one using the MSI modified bios. I'm up to 792Mhps... I need to work on my case cooling though for more I think.

For the next update, is it possible to add a minimize to tray option?

Sure, it's now in the beta version as you can see from the miner thread.

Also I have tried to increase performance a bit on Radeon GPUs. The beta should already be a little faster than the regular version, but I'm hoping to improve it further.

Thank you and welcome! Smiley Added BitMinter to your directory. Nice website, by the way, just the thing Bitcoin needs. More merchants, and a nice website to find them.

Thank you kindly, sir. Let's hope our luck stays with us.

That is very nice! The new beta miner could perhaps give you 2 Mhps more. Not much, but it's hard to get more out of the 69xx GPUs than what the miner already does.

NOTICE: I just passed 4H logged in, so I should now be able to post in the regular section. I probably won't this one, as I'm reposting there.

According to the logfile, I'm using the 'beta' 1.0 version. I can't make this thing work for the life of me. One of two things happens.

1. I log in successfully, see briefly 'GPU Device 0 has no space left, wating for confirmation' or something like that (it's not there long enough to read), then the screen goes black, and the computer restarts as if it had a BSOD (And windows considers it one, it makes a minidump).
2. The 'Proceed' button on the log in doesn't work. I can click it forever to no avail.

I'm using an AMD Phenom II X4 965 for my CPU and an NVidia GTX 460 as my GPU. The prospect of 100+ MH/s was enticing (I can overclock even higher than the value listed above and still see stability)... but it doesn't look like the client will work.

EDIT: Just noticed this is now popping up whenever I click 'start'
Code:
2011.08.26 [15:55]  Unable to load settings: java.io.IOException: For input string: "

EDIT2: It now is claiming my card doesn't support OpenCL... but it certainly does. Both the official page and GPU-Z say it does, at least.
Code:
2011.08.26 [15:59] Device drivers for GeForce GTX 460 (#1) does not support OpenCL 1.1. Unable to detect whether the
work group size is optimal.

What on earth is going on here...?

I've been lurking in this forum for a while, but decided to sign up today.

This GUI is incredible! Way smaller barrier to entry than my first few mining attempts. Can't wait to get my hands on a 5850 to give it a serious shot.

2. The 'Proceed' button on the log in doesn't work. I can click it forever to no avail.

I made some further changes to the beta right now to make sure this won't happen, even if there are problems with the settings.

That's the bug a few people have experienced, the blank login window. For some reason it seems the settings can get corrupted. Not sure why. But the beta now should handle it just fine. Although your settings could disappear. I haven't been able to track down the actual source of the settings problems.

Thank you, and welcome on the team. Smiley I'm happy to hear you find the low barrier to entry compelling - I spent a lot of time and thought on that.

BitMinterD 1.0 (the mining pool software) up and running.

Changes:
  • Reduced use of server resources considerably - for future scalability
  • Notify long pollers faster at block changes

So, only internal changes that you should not notice beyond slightly lower stales. It's been tested on the bitcoin test network and seems stable enough, but let me know if you experience any problems.
