Altcoins are alternate coins, so crypto coins different then Bitcoin.
Is there any specific coin you would like to know?
Because altcoins can differ a lot from coin to coin.

Altcoins are pretty much Cryptocurrency that isn't Bitcoin. "Alternative coins".
Many are designed similar to Bitcoin, but to provide different uses..
You've got ones for smart contracts, ones that act as supercomputers, anonymity, etc.

The first altcoins is litecoin.
And now it is very successful.
Bitcoin like gold and litecoin like silver.

But now the best altcoin is Ethereum. It created by Vitalik Buterin - wunderkind from Canada with Russian roots.
On Ethereum there are many dozens and dozens new altcoins. And many are successful. So it is possible to create on Ethereum new coins.

I will define altcoin as any other cryptocurrency expect for bitcoin. There are a lot altcoins with new ones launching every week. Altcoins perform different functions and are built on different platforms. If you want to know and understand altcoins better, go through a page hundreds listed there, its called coinmarket cap.
