It depends on where you live and what your voltage is.



USA 110 -120volts  is the norm.  And circuits are 15 amps which is 1800 watts max and 1440 watts 24/7/365

Some are 20 amp which is 2400 watts max and 1920 watts 24/7/365

15 amps 120 volts no good.

20 amps 120 volts should work maybe kind of.


20 amps 240 volts no worries
30 amps 240volts no worries.

So what did you hook up to?

Obviously if it is working currently (for him to ask if its safe) he must be on a 20 amp.  If it is running, generally I'd say its pretty safe if you have modern up to code wiring.  If you pull too many watts you are simply going to trip the breaker.  It is designed this way so you don't set your house on fire.

Depend of 6 outlet surge protector quality, but i will never connect rig on them.
And better to buy one without swithc, because lots of switch are low quality.
