Lets share media

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I recommend an appropriate venue, such as the Pirate Bay, isoHunt, Demonoid, KickAssTorrents…

Why am I starting to think about a private tracker that accepts Bitcoins as a way to say thanks, pay for leeching habits and reward seeders?

Gentlemen http://lmptfy.com

Enjoy!

I am hoping to setup a bitcoin  graphic on that site shortly. I think it would be perfect for such a service.

ROFL, I like your thinking. But the idea was serious, most of the time people complain because of lack of seeders, why not let them put their bitcoins where their mouths are? Let them pay for seeders! The releaser gets bitcoins out of it and the users pay according to their ratio, users with a sharing ratio <1 pay for the download, and people with a ratio >1 get money for their bandwidth ^^

Wont this monetize piracy? thus making it just a way for a bunch of people to profit of something that should be free.

Meh, monetizing is good if it provide better service and goods.

Beside, this will incentivize seeders to provide download for rare files.

Not really, because you have the choice, if you don't want to pay for the download, you just have to seed long enough till you got your payment earned back. Some people will not want to seed and only spend money, some people will indeed only seed and earn some money with it.

I quite like the idea, no one forces you to use the tracker but if you do, you'll have great seed count, even for old torrents. I think I'm going to give it a shot :-)

I support this idea and I wasnt joking about it  Tongue

You may be in a world of hurt if people think you are making money off piracy though. I like the idea for promoting rare torrents and incentivising seeding. My opinion of the parasites at the mpiaa and riaa is unprintable. Wink

This is similar to what the pirate bay was going to do so theres a market for it.

I see a bitcoin graphic with a bitcoin address when I move my mouse over it.  Very nice! Smiley

I'm down for a bitcoin supported tracker as long as it uses Gazelle.

Use my Trade Hill referral code: TH-R11519

Check out bitcoinity.org and Ripple.
