Mostly just curious if anybody has had success accepting payments for services in bitcoin or other crypto. It seems like the primary way to make money in the space is by speculating or just holding coins but one function of these coins is supposed to be as a unit of exchange after all.

If you're a freelancer or creative who accepts crypto-payments:

How do you do it?
What industry are you in?
How long have you been taking payments in crypto?

Thanks in advance for any responses,

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I am a freelance writer who is looking for places where I can be paid in BTC or other major cryptocurrencies in exchange for writing or proofreading articles. I have found a few sites online that are supposed to be bitcoin-friendly freelance sites, but the ones I have seen so far have fairly low activity and very few writing jobs actually available. Perhaps some other posters here know about places that are more active in this field.

Hi, I'm a freelancer (PHP developer) who accepts crypto but since the majority of people don't know about it, they pay in USD. However, I have found a couple of people here and another forum who happily paid in Bitcoin. Heck, I'll even be willing to give discounts if paid in BTC, ETH or Bitshares!

You could head to the 'Service' section where you could offer your skills. If we are talking about web and phone applications for example then people will usually ask for crypto related work only so make sure you are familiar with the Blockchain technology and bitcoin. An alternative would be to use XBTFreelancer (not that many projects compared to oDesk or Freelancer.com): https://www.xbtfreelancer.com/projects . From What I've seen so far, offering designing in the service section is the way to go here (If you're good at it), a lot of people are looking for banners for their ads or avatars for their signature campaigns etc.

Freelancing is the best way to earn Bitcoin rather than buying it. There are only a few Bitcoin freelancing websites, XBTFreelancer, the most popular, but about 90% of the projects require technical skills, web designing, programming, only a few related to writing, transcription/translation. Having technical skills makes earning cryptos much easy. Crypto related blogs are always looking for skilled writers or you can start your own blog and earn Bitcoin through paid posts.

Apart from finding projects in the services section, you can also use these sites.

From what I've seen, the offers from those sites seem more than just a bit lower than the fiat rates. If that's the case, it might be best to just work for fiat then trade for crypto after.

Yes myself and some of my friends are giving services in Bitcointalk service section and getting payment in the form of bitcoin 95% of the payment will be genuine . very less people are paying less and may be 1% will disappear . Blocklancer is another place where you can give  freelancing works in exchange of crypto currency.

Well that is because it's a freelancing job. You could do the same work at different companies but just altering a bit or more to be different from others. Its like doing the same work all over again but with different companies. But jobs in the internet and IRL are not the same. And it depends also if companies knows or prefers bitcoin payment rather than any other currencies or in fiat.
