This bitcoin thing looks very interesting... been following it for a while and just started mining.

I was able to get one BTC so far (using a carpy GFX)... just to test the waters...

It was theoretically transferred to my Bitcoin Address, but it hasn't shown up yet... (over 30hrs)...

Trouble seems to be that I have not downloaded all of the current blocks... my client had stopped at around 118420.. odd...

I deleted everything out of my .bitcoin (ubuntu) directory except my wallet.dat and addr.dat files and restarted the client...

It's downloading blocks again... I hope it is able to finish this time.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Nope, I've got all 133313 blocks downloaded and I'm getting new once on a semi-regular basis.

Depending on how many connections and such you have it will effect the time it takes to download the blocks. Let it run awhile, the first start up or so takes the longest. Use Blockexplorer to check any transactions if you're worried. Also, if it doesn't work, try reinstalling the client, you may have deleted more than you thought. Just be sure to keep your wallet.dat. It will work though, just takes a good while sometimes.

Ok... after doing what I said... I now have 133334 blocks and my transaction is complete.

So that's a lesson (maybe)... if you are not getting your transactions.... delete everything except the important bits... and try again....

<disclaimer> I am not an expert (by any stretch of the imagination)... do NOT do what I said </disclaimer>
