Recenly, Leo Melamed told Reuters that they're going to tame Bitcoin & make it less 'wild' & prevent it from becoming even more wilder. https://www.coindesk.com/cme-groups-leo-melamed-well-tame-bitcoin/

I don't Bitcoin can be tamed at this point.

They are trying to "tame it" because they want to make it so they control it in some way.

In all reality, if they bought mining machines and hired their own coding team they could take control of bitcoin(anyone can). I am looking forward to another coin split because we will potentially have a chance at some miners going from segwit1x to 2x and staying there. Good. Gives more people a chance to get into segwit1x because there will be some hashing power missing that will need to be replaced.
