Was thinking about that, using a revenue sharing model, where each author would get a % of the advertising revenues for his posts, the site keeping a small % just to pay operating costs.

We would allow him/her to place 2 ad widgets like anon ads and coinurl. Even pay for visits.

Yeah I had this idea awhile back, but didn't have the time to actually create it back then. I think it's a good idea and you should consider doing it.

You'd need an editor to keep content at a certain level. If done right, this could eventually become an online newspaper/magazine without requiring paid subscriptions.

Still around.

Yes, and I have some original ideas on how to monetise it with advertising without being too much of a pain or distracting to the users, but quality articles would really be a must.
Let's say: would you mind spending 60 seconds or less of your time as "payment" to read a quality article, knowing in advance that most of that "payment" would go to the authors pocket?

60 seconds per article? Probably not.

60 seconds on a landing page/ad, knowing the content is going to be high quality? Probably.

Problem is, for many readers either one constitutes "too much of a pain or distracting".

Still around.

Hey so funny story,
I'm doing this already and I have about 20 writers onboard - We have a full editorial process and authors will be paid directly by readers.

The name probably isn't going to be The Daily Bitcoin when we launch in two weeks, you can read the full pitch to interested writers here

Happy to answer any questions, I'm always looking for collaborators.

Adam and psy,

You've both got some interesting ideas and I'd love to continue discussing them with you, but I feel we're derailing this thread. To me, a blog might have some content that like "Dude! My jalapeno finally arrived!" with pictures and maybe some whining about the delivery, followed by a description of the author's dinner. That's perfectly acceptable for a bitcoin oriented blog.

The models we have been brainstorming are more like online magazines. Adam, I think you should create a thread specifically for your project. I'll be composing an email to you immediately after posting this.

Still around.
